Is the New King James Version okay to read?

Question:

WHAT ABOUT THE NEW KING JAMES VERSION OF THE BIBLE? HAS ANYTHING BEEN OMMITTED FROM IT OR IS IT OK FOR US TO READ?

Answer:

The New King James Version just claims to “update the Old English,” but it is deceitful in that claim, because it has changed the whole meaning of verses. I do not have a New King James Bible, because I am not going to financially support these publishers who are corrupting God’s Word. The following verse quotations from the New King James Version, are from an article by Chuck Bero, which may be viewed at “http://www.llano.net/baptist/isthenewkjv.htm”.

II Corinthians 2:17 says, “For we are not as many, which CORRUPT the word of God: but as of sincerity, but as of God, in the sight of God speak we in Christ.” The New King James reads, “For we are not, as so many, PEDDLING the word of God.” The words “corrupt” and “peddle” do not mean even close to the same thing. To “corrupt” means “to change from good to bad; to rot, spoil; to alter from the original; tainted” (Webster’s Seventh New Collegiate Dictionary),” whereas “peddle” means “to travel about with wares for sale; to sell or offer for sale” (Webster’s Seventh New Collegiate Dictionary). Based upon this one verse alone, I would reject the New King James Version, and call it a corrupt translation of the Word of God.

II Corinthians 10:5 says, “Casting down IMAGINATIONS, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity EVERY THOUGHT to the obedience of Christ.” The New King James reads, “Casting down ARGUMENTS…” Once again, these words do not nearly mean the same thing. A man may be wicked in his “imaginations,” but not show it forth for many years in his “arguments.” Many people secretly commit sins in their imaginations, and only after years of unrestrained imaginations, will outwardly commit those sins. Isaiah 55:7-9 shows that “thoughts” (which imaginations are) are very important to God: “Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his THOUGHTS: and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon. For my THOUGHTS are not your THOUGHTS, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my THOUGHTS than your THOUGHTS.” God warns man in Ezekiel 11:5, “I know the things that come into your mind, every one of them.”  God says that one of the reasons He sent a flood upon the earth to destroy it was because of man’s wicked IMAGINATIONS.  Genesis 6:5 says, “And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every IMAGINATION of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.”

We could go on with examples, but to any sincere Christian who wants to know the truth, it is very clear — the New King James Version is not God’s Holy Word, but just another corrupt translation. Stick with the King James Bible. It has withstood the test!
