Who wrote the Bible?

Question:

Who wrote the Bible, and how did they know the answers?

Answer:

“Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but HOLY MEN OF GOD SPAKE AS THEY WERE MOVED BY THE HOLY GHOST.” (II Peter 1:20,21).

“ALL SCRIPTURE IS GIVEN BY INSPIRATION OF GOD, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness.” (II Timothy 3:16)

“For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.” (Romans 15:4)

From the above scriptures we see that God wrote the Bible using men as His instrument to pen the words. They were “moved by the Holy Ghost” to write exactly what God wanted written.

We also see that the Bible is profitable for all aspects of living. We learn to trust the Bible through reading it and allowing God to apply it in our lives. Zechariah 1:4-6 follows. See how it applies to today’s circumstances: “Be ye not as your fathers, unto whom the former prophets have cried, saying, Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Turn ye now from your evil ways, and from your evil doings: but they did not hear, nor hearken unto me, saith the LORD. Your fathers, where are they? and the prophets, do they live for ever? But my words and my statutes, which I commanded my servants the prophets, did they not take hold of your fathers? and they returned and said, Like as the LORD of hosts thought to do unto us, according to our ways, and according to our doings, so hath he dealt with us.”

See also Proverbs 22:17-21 which follow. Verses 20-21 give the reason for Bible ministries. “Bow down thine ear, and hear the words of the wise, and apply thine heart unto my knowledge. For it is a pleasant thing if thou keep them within thee; they shall withal be fitted in thy lips. That thy trust may be in the LORD, I have made known to thee this day, even to thee. Have not I written to thee excellent things in counsels and knowledge, That I might make thee know the certainty of the words of truth; that thou mightest answer the words of truth to them that send unto thee?”

We encourage you to read every day in the King James Bible.  We hope that these Scriptures will encourage you to get into the Book of Books, which contains all the answers for life.
