Chapter 2

II. Be Strapped Into Your Armor.

Note:   Armor will do you no good, unless you have it on.

A. Be fully prepared.

    1.   2 Timothy 2:3 says, “Thou therefore endure ________________, as a good ______________ of Jesus Christ.”
    2.  Verse 4 of that same chapter says, “No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may ____________ him who hath chosen him to be a ______________.”

Note:   When you get saved, then you are in the Lord’s Army. When you are a soldier, then you need armor to protect you from the enemy.

    3. Ephesians 6:11 says, “Put on the __________ armour of God, that ye may be able to __________ against the wiles of the devil.”

Note:   We are warned here to put on the whole armor of God. That is important, because enemies look for weak points in the armor.

   4.   1 Samuel 17:48, 49 says, "And it came to pass, when the Philistine arose, and came and drew nigh to meet David, that David hasted, and ran toward the army to meet the Philistine. And David put his hand in his bag, and took thence a __________, and slang it, and smote the Philistine in his ________________, that the stone sunk into his forehead; and he fell upon his face to the earth."

Note:   David found a weak point in Goliath’s armor — his face. Of course Goliath was wicked and deserved to die, but this example shows the danger of having a weak spot in the armor.

    5. Hebrews 12: 1, 2 says, “Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the ______ which doth so ____________ beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.”

Different people have different strengths and weaknesses.

We fight a very evil foe, the devil, who tries to strike at those weak spots.

    6. Once again, Ephesians 6:11 says, “Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the __________ of the devil.”

Note:   The word wiles means, “tricks intended to ensnare or deceive; skill in outwitting.” (Merriam-Webster’s 11th Collegiate Dictionary)

    7.   1 Corinthians 10:12 says, “Wherefore let him that thinketh he ________________ take heed lest he ________.”
    8.   1 Peter 5:8 says, “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the __________, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may ____________.”

Note:   In the Christian life there is no room for pride. The fact is that we face a very cunning foe, who has a great deal of skill in outwitting people and deceiving them. You need to be strapped into your armor and fully prepared.

B. Be politically prepared.

    1. Ephesians 6:12 says, “For we wrestle ______ against __________ and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the ____________ of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in ________ places.”

The Bible warns us that Satan is always working, and trying to

control people in high places.  What can we do about that?

    2.   1 Timothy 2:1, 2 says, “I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, ______________, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; For __________, and for all that are in __________________; that we may lead a quiet and __________________ life in all godliness and honesty.”
    3.   2 Thessalonians 3:1, 2 says, “Finally, brethren, pray for us, that the ________ of the Lord may have ________ course, and be glorified, even as it is with you: And that we may be delivered from ________________________ and wicked men: for all men have not __________.”

Note:    Mordecai was one who faced wickedness in high places.

    4. Esther 3:5, 6 says, “And when __________ saw that Mordecai bowed not, nor did him reverence, then was Haman full of wrath. And he thought scorn to lay hands on Mordecai alone; for they had showed him the people of Mordecai: wherefore Haman sought to ______________ all the ________ that were throughout the whole kingdom of Ahasuerus, even the people of Mordecai.”

Note:    Daniel also faced persecution from those in high places; even though he, himself, was also a high official.

    5. Daniel 6:5-7 says, “Then said these men, We shall not find any occasion against this Daniel, except we find it against him concerning the ______ of his God. Then these ____________________ and princes assembled together to the king, and said thus unto him, King Darius, live for ever. All the presidents of the kingdom, the governors, and the princes, the counsellors, and the captains, have consulted together to establish a royal statute, and to make a firm decree, that whosoever shall ask a ________________ of any God or man for thirty days, save of thee, O king, he shall be cast into the den of __________.”

This reminds us that we need to pray much for Christians who hold high positions,

because there is an evil foe who would like to destroy them.

C. Be continually prepared.

    1. Ephesians 6:13 says, “Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to __________________ in the evil day, and having done all, to __________.”

Note:   The question is not if the evil day will come, but when? And when it does, will we be found standing?

    2. Matthew 26:41 says, “Watch and ________, that ye enter ______ into ____________________: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is __________.”
    3. I Corinthians 15:58 says, “Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye ________________, unmoveable, always __________________ in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is ______ in ________ in the Lord.”
