Did God make a
mistake when He created man?
If God is omniscient, did He know from the
beginning when He created Adam that he will disobey Him? The statement of Gen 6:6,
was God regreting creating man? Did He make mistake in creating man in his own image?
Genesis 6:5-8 says, "And God saw that the
wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the
thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. And it repented the LORD that he
had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart. And the LORD said, I will
destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth; both man, and beast, and the
creeping thing, and the fowls of the air; for it repenteth me that I have made them. But
Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD."
There is no mistake on
God's part, but on man's part. It is man that has spurned the great grace of God so many
times. God created man and gave him a wonderful chance to obey and enjoy the goodness of
God. Ezekiel 33:11 says, "Say unto them, As I live, saith the Lord GOD, I have
no pleasure in the death of the wicked; but that the wicked turn from his way and live:
turn ye, turn ye from your evil ways; for why will ye die, O house of Israel?"
Matthew 23:37, 38 says, "O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, thou that killest the
prophets, and stonest them which are sent unto thee, how often would I have gathered thy
children together, even as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings, and ye
would not! Behold, your house is left unto you desolate." II Peter 3:9 says,
"The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is
longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to
repentance." Romans 5:6-9 says, "For when we were yet without strength, in due
time Christ died for the ungodly. For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet
peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die. But God commendeth his love
toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, being
now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him."
