Was the world
created in six literal days?
Was the world created
in 6 days or 6 eras? In the original Jewish Bible it uses the word
"yaster" which means either day OR era. So isn't it possible that the world was
actually created in 6 eras? It would make much more sense considering many
scientists classify the Earth to be much older. So isn't the world created in 6 eras
rather than 6 days?
The
world was spoken into existence immediately. Psalm 33:6, 9 says, "By the
word of the LORD were the heavens made; and all the host of them by the breath of his
mouth. For HE SPAKE, AND IT WAS DONE; he commanded, and it stood
fast."
The Lord knew that such questions
would be raised, and so made it clear as to the time period involved. Genesis 1:1-5
says, "In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. And the earth was
without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit
of God moved upon the face of the waters. And God said, Let there be light: and there
was light. And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light
from the darkness. And God called the light DAY, and the darkness he called NIGHT.
And the EVENING and the MORNING were the FIRST DAY." On the very first day, God
began the 24 HOUR TIME FRAME -- DAY and NIGHT -- EVENING and MORNING. If it
was an extended period of time, God would not have used those terms in regard to every day
of creation "evening and morning were the _______ day" as He did.
Remember, the Bible warns us about
people coming along with "false science." 1 Timothy 6:20, 21 says,
"O Timothy, keep that which is committed to thy trust, avoiding profane and vain
babblings, and OPPOSITIONS OF SCIENCE FALSELY SO CALLED: Which some professing have
erred concerning the faith. Grace be with thee. Amen." The earth is not
millions of years old, and there are many proofs of that in nature. I would
encourage you to order the
creation video series by Dr. Kent Hovind at dr.dino.com. Those videos will show you
just how ridiculous evolution is, and how dishonest the teachers are that hold to it.
The majority text is the original Jewish Bible, and it uses the
word "yome" for "day," from a word meaning to be "hot" or
"warm" (as the warm hours) (Strong's #3117).
