To Tell The Truth
You do not have to teach a child how to lie—it comes natural (ever since the first married couple, Adam and Eve, sinned in the Garden of Eden). “They go astray as soon as they be born, speaking lies.” (Holy Bible, Psalms 58:3b)
Adults have a problem with lying, too; so before an adult testifies in a court of law, he/she will first be asked to raise the right hand and answer the following question: “Do you solemnly swear to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth, so help you God?” “Lie not one to another.” (Holy Bible, Colossians 3:9b)
It is easy to tell a lie, because our sinful hearts justify whatever we want to say or do. “The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?” (Holy Bible, Jeremiah 17:9)
We have to be taught to tell the truth. “Wherefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbor.” (Holy Bible, Ephesians 4:25a)
There was a man by the name of Ananias, and his wife’s name was Sapphira. They sold some land, and pretended to give the whole amount of money to the Church. “But Peter said, Ananias, why hath Satan filled thine heart to lie to the Holy Ghost, and to keep back part of the price of the land? Whiles it remained, was it not thine own? and after it was sold, was it not in thine own power? why hast thou conceived this thing in thine heart? thou hast not LIED unto men, but UNTO GOD. And Ananias hearing these words fell down, and gave up the ghost: and great fear came on all them that heard these things.” (Holy Bible, Acts 5:3-5)
Sapphira, his wife, did not know what had happened, and when she came in, Peter then questioned her. “Tell me whether ye sold the land for so much? And she said, Yea, for so much.” (Holy Bible, Acts 5:8b) Like her husband, Sapphira lied, and then she fell down dead. “Then fell she down straightway at his feet, and yielded up the ghost: and the young men came in, and found her dead, and, carrying her forth, buried her by her husband.” (Holy Bible, Acts 5:10)
Do you know that there is an even worse punishment for lying? Worse than being struck down dead? It is spending eternity with those liars who have not asked the Lord Jesus Christ to forgive them and to save them. “All liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.” (Holy Bible, Revelation 21:8b)
God does not want you to spend eternity in hell, that is why God gave His Son. “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” (Holy Bible, John 3:16)
Jesus came to pay the penalty for your sins, when He died on the cross. “Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures.” (Holy Bible, 1 Corinthians 15:3b-4)
Your sins can be forgiven, and joy can fill your heart, if you will repent and ask the Lord Jesus Christ to save you now.
“Dear Lord Jesus, I do believe that you are the Son of God; that you are God Almighty in the flesh, the Creator of heaven and earth. I do believe that you are the only Savior; that you died on the cross for me, and gave your precious blood to pay my sin debt; and then you arose from the grave the third day. I do now repent of my sins, and receive you as my Savior. Please forgive me, and save my soul. Please raise up my life from sin and shame, and use it now for your glory. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.”
Yes, I just asked the Lord Jesus Christ to save me, and I desire to now live for Him.
