Islam - Part 1

Chapter 2

— Muhammad noticed that there was something special about Christians.

#1 — Muhammad noticed that Christians do not hate their enemies, but love them and want to see them converted.

#2 — Muhammad noticed that Christians are people devoted to learning.

“...nearest among them in love to the Believers wilt thou find those who say, ‘We are Christians’: BECAUSE AMONGST THESE ARE MEN DEVOTED TO LEARNING…” (Surah 5:82)

    1. Acts 17:11 says, “These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all __________________ of mind, and ________________ the scriptures __________, whether those things were so.”

    2.   2 Timothy 2:15 says, “__________ to shew thyself approved unto God, a ______________ that needeth not to be ashamed, ______________ dividing the word of truth.”

    3. 1 Thessalonians 5:21 says, “__________ all things; hold fast that which is good.”

Note: Is that really true of Christians today? Are Christians really devoted to learning? Or are Christians today devoted to entertainment?

Do Christians today go to church to worship the Lord and learn

more about what the Bible teaches, or do they go to sit back

in a casual atmosphere and be rocked by the music,

and entertained by the media presentation?

What we are seeing today is actually an antagonism toward teaching and learning in the church. What we are hearing today is, “Break down denominational barriers!” Denominations are not made up of people who just want to go to a church with a different name on the sign. Denominations are present today because of the different doctrines which people believe. The word doctrine means teaching — in this context, Bible teaching. Does the Bible teach us to downplay doctrine? No.

4.   2 Timothy 4:2-4 says, “Preach the ________; be instant ____ season, ______ of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and ________________. For the time will come when they will ______ endure sound ________________; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the __________, and shall be turned unto ____________.”

The Bible warned us that this time would come, when

professing Christians would start downplaying doctrine.

Note: A fable is “a feigned story or tale, intended to instruct or amuse” (Noah Webster’s 1828 Dictionary). That is exactly what we are seeing today in churches with the multimedia presentations, plays, and skits. They are teaching fables — fictitious stories, rather than teaching the truth of the Bible.  You will notice that these people choose such teachers "after their own lusts." They like these teachers, because they like the lust which is fulfilled in these multimedia presentations.   It is the same reason that churches have switched from a man leading the congregational singing, to a group of men and women dancing around on the platform leading the singing. They call them Praise Teams, but they are simply dance troupes. They have met with such success in churches for the same reason that they (dancers) have met with such success in the world — lust. Watching people dance has always stirred up the lust in people.

    5. Amos 3:3 says, “Can two walk ________________, except they be ____________?”

Note: Here is another indication that many Christians are no longer meeting for instruction, but for entertainment. They come to church with different translations of the Bible, which make it hard to follow along with the one reading. School teachers and professors have more sense than that, in that they require the students to all obtain the same textbook, and a specific edition of it, if more than one is available. Why? Because it is utter confusion to try and teach others who do not have the same textbook.  Many professing Christians today seem to take real pride in the fact that they do not all have the same text of the Bible, and they scoff at the idea that there even is one authoritative text that is correct and without error. How can they be serious about learning in such an environment? They are only fooling themselves. Try having a congregational song service where everyone has a different hymnbook! It would only take one service to decide that if the church is serious about singing, everyone needs the same hymnbook.  The people at the Corinthian Church were also fooling themselves, because they took pride in the fact that so many people were speaking in different tongues. The Bible does not commend them, but rebukes them for what was taking place.

    6. 1 Corinthians 14:6-8 says, “Now, brethren, if I come unto you speaking with tongues, what shall I profit you, except I shall speak to you either by revelation, or by knowledge, or by prophesying, or by ________________? And even things without life giving sound, whether pipe or harp, except they give a ______________________ in the sounds, how shall it be __________ what is piped or harped? For if the trumpet give an uncertain sound, who shall prepare himself to the battle?”

    7. 1 Corinthians 14:11 says, “Therefore if I know not the meaning of the voice, I shall be unto him that speaketh a __________________, and he that speaketh shall be a __________________ unto me.”

Note: The word barbarian means, “foreign, wild” (Noah Webster’s 1828 Dictionary). If someone speaks in a language that you do not know, then there can be no real communication of any depth. That is why, at the Tower of Babel, the multitude had to disperse from each other.

    8. Genesis 11:6-8 says, “And the LORD said, Behold, the people is one, and they have all one ________________; and this they begin to do: and now nothing will be restrained from them, which they have imagined to do. Go to, let us go down, and there ________________ their language, that they may not understand one another's speech. So the LORD __________________ them abroad from thence upon the face of all the earth: and they left off to build the city.”

You will notice in the contemporary church movement that on Sunday evenings,

those churches are now beginning to split up into small group studies that often meet in homes,

instead of at the church building. They do not have a clue as to why that is getting popular,

but the Bible makes it clear — they have been given to confusion (because of the multitude of

different Bible translations), and the result of confusion is scattering or dispersing.

Note: Would Muhammad be so convinced today that Christians are devoted to learning? Or would he be convinced that modern Christians are devoted to entertainment?

— Muhammad noticed that there was something special about Christians.

#1 — Muhammad noticed that Christians do not hate their enemies, but love them and want to see them converted.

#2 — Muhammad noticed that Christians are people devoted to learning.

#3 — Muhammad noticed that Christians are people who are willing to love God more than the world.

“...nearest among them in love to the Believers wilt thou find those who say, ‘We are Christians’: because amongst these are men devoted to learning AND MEN WHO HAVE RENOUNCED THE WORLD…” (Surah 5:82)

    1.   1 John 2:15 says, “Love ______ the __________, neither the ____________ that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.”

    2. Matthew 6:24 says, “No man can __________ ______ masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve ______ and ____________.”

Note: Would Muhammad find it true today that Christians love God more than the world? In many cases, he would be unable to tell the difference between Christians and the unsaved world.

    3. Today, Muhammad would see that many Christians dress just like the world, despite what the Bible clearly teaches in Deuteronomy 22:5, “The __________ shall ______ wear that which pertaineth unto a ______, neither shall a ______ put on a ______________ garment: for all that do so are abomination unto the LORD thy God.”

Even the world knows which bathroom door needs pants on it, and which

bathroom door needs a dress on it. But how many Christians do not obey this

clear instruction from God to have a clear distinction in the way that the genders dress?

(Please see Bible Course BC-E-106 for further study on this subject)

    4. Today, Muhammad would see that many Christians listen to the same music as does the world, despite what the Bible clearly teaches in Ephesians 5:19, “Speaking to yourselves in ____________ and __________ and __________________ songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord.”

Note: The contemporary Christian music crowd says that all music is neutral and thus okay to use. If that were truly the case, then why would God give clear instruction to His people to only listen to three types of music? Individual musical notes are neutral until they are placed together with other notes — just like individual letters of the alphabet are only neutral when they stand alone. When musical notes are placed together, and when letters of the alphabet are placed together, they are no longer neutral, but give forth a certain message. That is why movie producers still pay people thousands of dollars to put specific musical sound tracks to movies. It sets the needed mood for the scene that is being shown. (See Bible Course BC-E-108 for further study on the subject of music). Many times today when you turn on a Christian Radio Station, you cannot even tell whether it is a Christian station, or a secular station, because they sound the same. Many churches now have full rock bands playing the music for their services. The lights are dimmed down. Strobe or swirling lights are used, along with fog juice machines to produce a haze. If Muhammad walked into these churches today, would he be able to tell if he was in a church, or in a worldly nightclub?

Muslims have been around for many years. Why are they suddenly so antagonistic

toward Christians today? One reason is because Christians are so worldly today,

that they can no longer respect them like Muhammad once did.

They never did respect religion that was mere play and entertainment.

The Quran says in Surah 6:70, “Leave alone THOSE WHO TAKE THEIR RELIGION TO BE MERE PLAY AND AMUSEMENT... IT WILL FIND ITSELF NO PROTECTOR or intercessor except Allah.” (The Quran refers to God as Allah. But as we shall see, Allah is not the same as the God of the Bible.) The Quran says in Surah 7:51, “SUCH AS TOOK THEIR RELIGION TO BE MERE AMUSEMENT AND PLAY, AND WERE DECEIVED BY THE LIFE OF THE WORLD.”

If you are in a contemporary church, YOU are part of the reason

why Muslims so hate Christians today. Repent of your

great wickedness and come out of that compromise.

#4 — Muhammad noticed that Christians are people who are humble and attribute all glory and praise to God.

“...nearest among them in love to the Believers wilt thou find those who say, ‘We are Christians’: because amongst these are men devoted to learning and men who have renounced the world, AND THEY ARE NOT ARROGANT.” (Surah 5:82)

    1.   1 Peter 5:5-6 tells us, “Likewise, ye younger, ____________ yourselves unto the elder. Yea, ______ of you be ______________ one to another, and be ______________ with ________________: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble. ____________ yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time.”

    2. We find the same instruction given in James 4:10, “____________ yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.”

Note: Would Muhammad find it true today that Christians are humble? Or would he find many Christians today to be very proud?

    3.   2 Chronicles 7:14 says, “If my people, which are called by my name, shall ____________ themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and ________ from their wicked ways; then will I ________ from heaven, and will ______________ their sin, and will ________ their land.”

Note: Although Muhammad claimed to believe the Law of Moses (referring to the Old Testament) and the Gospel (referring to the New Testament) — he added to the Sacred Scripture by claiming to have received more — which is now known as the Quran. Aside from the fact that the Bible teaches that it was complete with the closing of the Book of Revelation, if Muhammad had truly received Scripture from God, then it would not contradict the Bible — but there are MANY CONTRADICTIONS between the Bible and the Quran.
