“He will bless them that fear the LORD, both small and great.” (Holy Bible, Psalm 115:13, KJV) Does that verse bring comfort and joy to your heart?
Do you feel small and unimportant? Are you are not
first at school? Are you are not first at work? Do you not
seem to be first at home? Are you just plain tired of competition?
Is there ever going to be a reward for those who are not first?
Will there ever be a reward for those who have a servant’s heart, and
never get in the limelight? Yes, there is going to be a reward.
“But many that are first shall be last; and the last shall be first.”
(Holy Bible, Matthew 19:30, KJV)
Consider what
God said about Israel. “The LORD did not set his love upon you, nor
choose you, because ye were more in number than any people; for ye were
the fewest of all people.” (Holy
Bible, Deuteronomy 7:7, KJV)
When God was searching for a replacement for Elijah, He did not choose one from the sons of the prophets (they thought they were the spiritual ones, as was later seen with their attitudes toward the one that God did choose). No, God did not choose any of those young men. God was looking for a humble man with a servant’s heart. He found that one, still at home, plowing and working for his father.
“So he departed thence, and found Elisha the son of Shaphat, who was plowing with twelve yoke of oxen before him, and he with the twelfth: and Elijah passed by him, and cast his mantle upon him. And he left the oxen, and ran after Elijah, and said, Let me, I pray thee, kiss my father and my mother, and then I will follow thee. And he said unto him, Go back again: for what have I done to thee? And he returned back from him, and took a yoke of oxen, and slew them, and boiled their flesh with the instruments of the oxen, and gave unto the people, and they did eat. Then he arose, and went after Elijah, and ministered unto him.” (Holy Bible, 1 Kings 19:19-21, KJV)
You do not have to be where the “action is” to be found of God. He knows exactly where you are. He also knows your heart. Is your heart right with Him? That is what He is searching for in a person. “For the eyes of the LORD run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to shew himself strong in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward him. (Holy Bible, 2 Chronicles 16:9a, KJV)
