Question:
Who is God?
Answer:
When God called Moses to go and lead the children of Israel out of Egypt, Moses had a question in Exodus 3:13,14, “And Moses said unto God, Behold, when I come unto the children of Israel, and shall say unto them, The God of your fathers hath sent me unto you; and they shall say to me, What is his name? what shall I say unto them? And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you.”
The children of Israel had spend about 400 years in a nation that had many “gods.” Moses was concerned that when he told them that “God” sent him to rescue them, they would wonder “which god,” after all of those years living in a heathen place.
God’s reply is very interesting. He simply told Moses to tell them, “I AM hath sent me unto you.” What does that mean? “I AM” is a “being” verb. A verb of “existence.” God was telling Moses, “If they ask who sent you, JUST TELL THEM THAT THE GOD WHO REALLY EXISTS SENT YOU.”
God is NOT “one of many gods.” GOD IS THE ONLY TRUE AND LIVING GOD THAT THERE IS. Jeremiah 10:10 says, “BUT THE LORD IS THE TRUE GOD, HE IS THE LIVING GOD, and an everlasting king: at his wrath the earth shall tremble, and the nations shall not be able to abide his indignation.” Isaiah 44:6 says, “Thus saith the LORD the King of Israel, and his redeemer the LORD of hosts; I AM THE FIRST, AND I AM THE LAST, AND BESIDE ME THERE IS NO GOD.”
Are you ready to meet Him? Revelation 20:11-15 says, “And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them. And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.”
Now is the time to repent of your sin, and to place your faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. I Corinthians 15:3,4 says, “For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures.” Romans 10:9,10 says, “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.”
