Question:
Hello, I just wanted to know whether the third category of people that is neither male nor female are mentioned in the Bible.
Answer:
Galatians 3:21-28 says, “Is the law then against the promises of God? God forbid: for if there had been a law given which could have given life, verily righteousness should have been by the law. But the scripture hath concluded all under sin, that the promise by faith of Jesus Christ might be given to them that believe. But before faith came, we were kept under the law, shut up unto the faith which should afterwards be revealed. Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith. But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster. For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus. For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.”
The Bible does mention this “third category.” Being male will not get you into it. Being female will not get you into it. Being a Jew will not get you into it. Being a Gentile will not get you into it. Being a slave will not get you into it. Being a free man will not get you into it. Being a good man and keeping the law will not get you into it.
How do you become a part of this third category? Change your gender? No. Change your nationality? No. Change your occupation or position in life? No. What must change is your heart. You must repent of your sin; of your false religion; of your false hope of getting to heaven by your good works, and you must come to place your trust in Jesus Christ alone as your personal Savior.
That decision in your life will place you in the third category — that of being a Christian. You will still be a male or a female; you will still be of the same nationality that you were before; you will still have the same occupation and place in life (unless God changes it); but most importantly, you will be saved. You will not have changed physically, but spiritually. There are really only two categories in life — saved, and lost. Those who are going to heaven because they have trusted the Lord Jesus Christ, and those who are going to hell because they have not trusted the Lord Jesus Christ. In which category are you? John 3:16-18 says, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.”
