Welcome to Book 1 in the Examining Bible Translations series of the Liberty Bible Course. This booklet deals with the examination of the New King James Version (NKJV). This study is written to be used with the King James Version (KJV) of the Bible, otherwise your answers are going to be incorrect. Please get your Bible, and begin another exciting study in God’s Word, that just might change your life!

 

Chapter 1

 

  1. The Background Of The New King James Version.

 

  1. The idea to produce the New King James Version.

The idea to produce the New King James Version of the Bible was born out of a conversation between Joe Moore and his dad, who was the president of the Thomas Nelson Publishing Company. He said, “Daddy, you make so many Bibles, why can’t you make a Bible that I can understand?” (The New King James Version, by Arthur L. Farstad, pg. 1)

 

  1. The investment to produce the New King James Version.

Joe Moore’s daddy took that request seriously, and spent four million dollars and seven years to complete a new translation of the Bible. It was finished in 1982, and was named the New King James Version. (The New King James Version, by Arthur L. Farstad, pg. 1) That is a sizable amount of money, and there is great competition out there with so many Bible translations being published. It should not be surprising, then, that the Thomas Nelson Publishing Company is trying to actively promote the New King James Version. They have a DVD available with information on it presented by Michael Cocoris, who tries to persuasively sell people on the idea of making the New King James Version their primary Bible.

 

  1. The insistence of the publisher and promoters of the New King James Version that it is only an update of Old English words in the King James Version.

Cocoris testifies, “In 1982, when the New King James Version came out, I was the pastor of the Church of the Open Door in downtown Los Angeles, which had been pastored by J. Vernon McGee for 21 years, so they were used to the King James Version. I introduced the change to the New King James: I had no problem — they had no problem. It is an easy transition, and I think one that is necessary, for the simple reason that the English language has changed.” (The Case for the New King James Version, by Michael Cocoris, DVD, Thomas Nelson Publishing)

 

Please notice their stated purpose of making a new translation:

“To update… archaic verbs and pronouns”; and “…words whose English meaning

has changed over a period of 3 1/2 centuries.” (http://av1611.com/kjbp/articles/reynolds-nkjv.html)

 

Was that really a sincere and true statement? Or was that a false statement used to mislead people into buying the New King James Version? You need to check that out and see. Look at the following example:

Daniel 3:3, King James Version (KJV) — “Then the PRINCES, the governors…”

Daniel 3:3, New King James Version (NKJV) — “And King Nebuchadnezzar sent word to gather together the SATRAPS, the administrators…”

The NKJV changes the word princes to satraps. Do you think that change made the Bible easier to understand for little Joe Moore — or harder? Most little children know what a prince is. Do most little children know what a satrap is? Do YOU know what a satrap is?

 

Merriam-Webster’s 11th Collegiate Dictionary defines “satrap” as a 14th century word

meaning governor   or ruler. The KJV was published in 1611 (the 17th century).

The NKJV translators have taken a word which is commonly understood (princes),

and have changed it to a word which is rarely understood (satraps), which is a

word from the 1300’s (the 14th century). Remember the stated purpose of the translators?

To “UPDATE… words whose English meaning has changed over a period of 3 1/2 centuries.”

Is that what they did here? No, they did exactly the opposite. They took a

word that was three centuries OLDER and inserted it into the text.

 

This is just one example of how people have not taken the time to really check out what the NKJV translators have done.

 

Chapter 2

 

  1. The Symbol Used On The New King James Version.

Note:   The publisher of the NKJV used a three-cornered symbol on this translation. On some editions, the symbol is printed right on the cover. In others, the symbol appears inside on the title page. Here is what Thomas Nelson says about it. “Title Page Logo: The triquetra (from a Latin word meaning “three-cornered”) is an ancient symbol for the Trinity. It comprises three interwoven arcs, distinct yet equal and inseparable, symbolizing that the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are three distinct yet equal Persons and indivisibly One God.” (Thomas Nelson Publishers) Is the triquetra an ancient symbol? Yes, but the question is, “What does it really represent?”

 

A triquetra is found on the front and back covers of a book called,

The Craft, A Witches Book of Shadows, by Dorothy Morrison.

It says on the cover that it: “Includes Rituals, Spells, and Wiccan Ethics.”

 

Morrison writes, “Like Christians, we believe in the Triad of Divinity, but there’s a bit of a twist here. Since Wicca is a matriarchal religion, we worship the Triple Goddess; more specifically, the Goddess in her phases of Maiden, Mother, and Crone.” (The Craft, A Witches Book Of Shadows, page 4) She continues, “Wicca is an Earth religion… We live in harmony with Nature, and believe that all things — even inanimate objects such as stones — have a life and spirit and purpose equal to our own. We don’t believe in… sin, or hell, or fire and brimstone.” (The Craft, A Witches Book Of Shadows, page 5)

 

A triquetra was also a symbol featured on an occult television drama called Charmed.

 

“Triquetra — Three-pointed symbol seen hanging from the cat’s collar and on the Book of Shadows on the occult drama CHARMED/WB/1998+. The Triquetra or “Trinity Knot”. was used in pre-Christian times by the Celts to represent the triple goddess (Maiden, Mother and Crone).” (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Triquetra)

 

The triquetra has also been used by the rock band Led Zeppelin.

 

“The same symbol (with a circle) is displayed by the rock group Led Zeppelin. Members of Led Zeppelin are deeply involved in satanism and the occult.” (http://www.av1611.org/nkjv.html) In regard to the circle used with some triquetras, that fits right in with witchcraft. “In Wicca and other pagan traditions, there exists a practice known as casting a circle. Circle casting is generally done with salt, crystals, candles or other purifying materials, and requires special rituals to be considered effective. By tracing a circle the practitioner consecrates an area within it for either temporary or permanent protection. This circle affords those within it to carry out magical rituals or spells without interference. This circle is also believed to be an area which straddles two dimensions or realities. It becomes a sacred space between the mundane world and the otherside. Also known as the ‘veil between worlds.’” (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magic_circle_%28Wicca%29)

 

Does it not seem strange that a Bible publisher would take a symbol which is used

so openly and frequently by satanic groups, and display it on the

cover or title page of their translation of the Bible?

 

  1. Deuteronomy 12:2-4 says, “Ye shall utterly ______________ all the places, wherein the nations which ye shall possess served their gods, upon the high mountains, and upon the hills, and under every green tree: And ye shall overthrow their altars, and break their pillars, and burn their groves with fire; and ye shall hew down the graven ____________ of their gods, and destroy the names of them out of that place. Ye shall not do so unto the LORD your God.” 2. 1 Thessalonians 5:22 says, “Abstain from all ____________________ of ________.”

Note:   The triquetra certainly has the appearance of evil. If it had an appearance associated strongly with good, then witches, satanic rock bands, and occult television programs would not be commonly using the symbol.

 

Chapter 3

 

III. Examples Of Changes In The New King James Version.

 

Note: To show the seriousness of the changes in the New King James Version (NKJV), the translation of the Jehovah’s Witnesses, the New World Translation (NWT), is also going to be shown sometimes.

 

#1 — Proverbs 25:23

KJV (King James Version)  –   “The north wind ______________   ________ rain: so doth an angry countenance a backbiting tongue.”

NKJV (New King James Version)   –  “The north wind BRINGS FORTH rain, And a backbiting tongue an angry countenance.”

NWT (New World Translation — Jehovah’s Witnesses)  –  “The wind from the north BRINGS FORTH as with labor pains a downpour; and a tongue [giving away] a secret, a denounced face.”

Note:    Notice here that the NKJV translators made the same exact change as did the Jehovah’s Witnesses in their NWT. The Bible says that the north wind DRIVES AWAY rain, but they changed it to say that the north wind BRINGS FORTH rain. What was the stated purpose of this new translation? “To update… words whose English meaning has changed…” (http://av1611.com/kjbp/articles/reynolds-nkjv.html). Is that what they did here? No.

 

The translators were not honest. They were not updating

Old English words here — they changed the text to read exactly the opposite.

 

  1. Have we forgotten the seriousness of tampering with God’s Word? Deuteronomy 4:2 says, “Ye shall not ______ unto the word which I command you, neither shall ye _______________ ought from it, that ye may keep the commandments of the LORD your God which I command you.”
  2. Proverbs 30:5, 6 says, “Every ________ of God is ________: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him. ______ thou not unto his words, lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a ________.”

Note:   The NKJV translators have been deceitful in what they stated was their purpose of translating. In their process of changing the Bible (not just updating words), they have now made a clear contradiction in the Bible in regard to the facts of weather. The north wind does not bring forth rain — it drives it away, just like the Bible says.

  1. 1 Thessalonians 5:21 says, “__________ all things; hold fast that which is good.”

 

The downright hatred for the KJV on the part of many Christians and pastors

is quite shocking. But even more astounding is their blindness to the gross errors

of these new translations, and their unwillingness to “prove all things.”

 

Illustration:    One pastor wrote and stated that some people in his congregation used the NKJV, and he would not want them to think that it was not the Word of God. He was written back and given Proverbs 25:23 as an example of gross error in the NKJV. It was explained to him how that through personal observation over the years (watching storms come in and observing wind direction), it had confirmed that the Bible was correct, and the NKJV was wrong (when the north wind starts to blow, it will drive the rain away). His response? “Why do you assume that the weather where you live is the same as in the Holy Land?”

 

Is the Bible only true in the Holy Land? Should you question its accuracy if you live elsewhere?

Was God not aware of the weather in every country and state when He had His Word written?

 

  1. Nahum 1:3 says, “The LORD is slow to anger, and great in power, and will not at all acquit the wicked: the LORD hath his way in the whirlwind and in the __________, and the clouds are the dust of his feet.”

 

Does the Lord control the weather, or not? If the Lord says that when the north wind

begins to blow, it is going to drive away the rain, can you trust that statement?

If God does not even understand the weather, then how can you trust Him with your soul?

 

Illustration:    Several missionaries around the world were consulted as to whether Proverbs 25:23 was true where they were located. Every missionary who had been there long enough to observe the weather where he lived, confirmed that the north wind indeed drives away the rain. Some of the liberal commentators and supporters of the critical text, have written that in the Holy Land the north wind brings forth rain, but that is not true. There are two witnesses who testify against them.

Witness #1 — When contacted, a missionary in Israel confirmed that the north wind there does NOT bring forth rain, as the NKJV and NWT claim. He stated that rain usually comes from the south west there.

Witness #2 — Secular weather sources state that storms which produce rain in the Holy Land are usually the result of a low pressure system out on the Mediterranean Sea. Low pressure systems contain winds which blow counterclockwise. When such a system approaches the Holy Land from the sea, it would produce rain from the southwest. That is exactly what the missionary there confirmed — the rain usually comes in from a southwest wind — not from the north wind.

 

It is utterly amazing that Christians would accept such a gross error found in the NKJV.

Every time a pastor preaches Proverbs 25:23 out of the NKJV, any observing person

would have to say that his message and his translation of the Bible is in error.

And how could they then trust the other things that he said?

 

  1. 1 Timothy 6:20, 21 says, “O Timothy, keep that which is committed to thy trust, avoiding profane and vain babblings, and oppositions of ______________ falsely so called: Which some ____________________ have __________ concerning the faith. Grace be with thee. Amen.”

Note:   Not only does the change of the NKJV make a false statement about the weather, it also changes the second half of the verse, thus making it false, as well. Look at it first in the KJV.

KJV (King James Version)  –    “The north wind driveth away rain: so doth an angry countenance a backbiting tongue.”

The word backbiting means, “The act of slandering the absent” (Noah Webster’s 1828 Dictionary). The Bible says that the north wind drives away the rain, and that an angry countenance will drive away a backbiting tongue. So if someone comes up to you and starts backbiting someone else, by showing them your angry countenance, it will stop them from talking about that person any more in your presence. But the NKJV says the exact opposite.

NKJV (New King James Version)   –  “The north wind brings forth rain, And a backbiting tongue an angry countenance.”

The NKJV states that the north wind will bring forth rain, and a backbiting tongue will bring forth an angry countenance. That is a false statement on both counts. If you start backbiting someone, that is no guarantee that you are going to then receive an angry countenance from someone. In fact, many people love to hear bad things about others. It makes them feel that they are not so bad, personally. It also proves to be exciting news to share with someone else. It is probably a rare thing to ever get rebuked by anyone for backbiting someone else, but the NKJV falsely says it is a guaranteed thing.

  1. Many people with nothing to do, love to hear and spread gossip about people. 1 Timothy 5:11-13 says, “But the younger widows refuse: for when they have begun to wax wanton against Christ, they will marry; Having damnation, because they have cast off their first faith. And withal they learn to be idle, wandering about from house to house; and not only idle, but ________________ also and busybodies, ________________ things which they ought not.”

 

If this was the only verse in the Bible that the NKJV translators had corrupted,

it would be enough to reject the whole translation. It has God not knowing facts

about the weather (that the north wind drives away the rain); and it has God not knowing

facts about the human personality (that man loves to hear gossip about other people).

 

#2 — Acts 3:26

KJV (King James Version)  –   “Unto you first God, having raised up his ______ Jesus, sent him to bless you, in turning away every one of you from his iniquities.”

NKJV (New King James Version)   –  “To you first, God, having raised up His Servant Jesus, sent Him to bless you, in turning away every one of you from your iniquities.”

NWT (New World Translation—Jehovah’s Witnesses)  –  “To YOU first God, after raising up his Servant, sent him forth to bless YOU by turning each one away from YOUR wicked deeds.”

Note:    Remember the stated purpose of the NKJV translators? “To UPDATE… words whose English meaning has changed…” Were they faithful to their purpose here? Has the meaning of the word son changed to servant? Do this little test to see. The next time you introduce your children to someone new, say of your son, “And this is my SERVANT, Joshua (or whatever his name is).” You will either get some strange looks (possibly an angry look from your son!), or you will get some laughs (as if you were trying to tease your son).

 

The answer is “No, the word SON  has not changed to SERVANT.” Once again, we find that

the translators were not honest. They made a change here, but it was not “To UPDATE… words

whose English meaning has changed.” It is strange that the translators chose to use the same word

as did the Jehovah’s Witnesses. We know why the Jehovah’s Witnesses would want to change the word

to servant, because they do not believe that Jesus is God. They believe that Jesus is “a god.”

 

John 1:1 — NWT (New World Translation, Jehovah’s Witnesses)  –  “In [the] beginning the Word was, and the Word was with God, and the Word was a god.”

Note:   When translating the Bible, there is more involved than just looking up a word in the dictionary, and then randomly choosing one of the words of the definition. First, the context of the verse needs to be considered. That is the rest of the verse, and the whole passage surrounding that verse. Secondly, other passages of Scripture that deal with that subject should be considered. These are critical things to consider when translating God’s holy Word.

  1. 1 Corinthians 2:12-14 says, “Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God. Which things also we speak, not in the words which man’s wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; __________________ spiritual things with __________________. But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually __________________.”

 

Translating the Bible is more than just learning another language.

It is not just a scholarly  task — it is a spiritual  task.

It is something which requires spiritual discernment.

 

  1. 1 Corinthians 1:19-21 says, “For it is written, I will ______________ the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to ______________ the understanding of the prudent. Where is the ________? where is the ____________? where is the disputer of this world? hath not God made ______________ the wisdom of this world? For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe.”

Note:   When comparing Scripture with Scripture, what does the Bible emphasize when dealing with the resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ — that He is a servant — or that He is the Son of God?

  1. John 10:17,18 says, “Therefore doth my ____________ love me, because I lay down my life, that I might take it again. No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This commandment have I received of my ____________.”

 

Notice the words used here, and their proper complementing words.

Did Jesus receive this commandment from His Master?   No, He received it from His Father.

The complementing word to Father  is Son. If the word Servant  was the proper one to use,

then the word Master  would have needed to precede it.

 

  1. Romans 1:3, 4 says, “Concerning his ______ Jesus Christ our Lord, which was made of the seed of David according to the flesh; And declared to be the ______ of God with __________, according to the spirit of holiness, by the ________________________ from the dead.”

Note:   When talking about the resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ, the emphasis is not upon Jesus being a servant, but upon Him being the Son of God raised with power.

 

We know why the Jehovah’s Witnesses would want to change the word

Son  to Servant, because they do not believe that Jesus is God;

but why did the NKJV translators make the same change?

 

#3 — Hebrews 3:15-17

KJV (King James Version)  –   “15 While it is said, To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts, as in the provocation. “16 For ________, when they had heard, did provoke: howbeit ______   ______ that came out of Egypt by Moses. “17 But with whom was he grieved forty years? was it not with them that had sinned, whose carcases fell in the wilderness?”

NKJV (New King James Version)   –  “16 For who, having heard, rebelled? Indeed, WAS IT NOT ALL who came out of Egypt, led by Moses?”

NWT (New World Translation — Jehovah’s Witnesses)  –  “16 For WHO were they that heard and yet provoked to bitter anger? DID NOT, IN FACT, ALL do so who went out of Egypt under Moses?”

Note:   The translators of the NKJV, like the translators of the Jehovah’s Witness NWT, said that ALL who came out of Egypt rebelled against God. That is a flat-out error. The KJV is right — “SOME… NOT ALL that came out of Egypt” rebelled.

  1. Numbers 13:25-31 proves that not all that came out of Egypt rebelled, “And they returned from searching of the land after forty days. And they went and came to Moses, and to Aaron, and to all the congregation of the children of Israel, unto the wilderness of Paran, to Kadesh; and brought back word unto them, and unto all the congregation, and shewed them the fruit of the land. And they told him, and said, We came unto the land whither thou sentest us, and surely it floweth with milk and honey; and this is the fruit of it. Nevertheless the people be strong that dwell in the land, and the cities are walled, and very great: and moreover we saw the children of Anak there. The Amalekites dwell in the land of the south: and the Hittites, and the Jebusites, and the Amorites, dwell in the mountains: and the Canaanites dwell by the sea, and by the coast of Jordan. And __________ stilled the people before Moses, and said, Let us go up at once, and ______________ it; for we are well able to overcome it. But the ______ that went up with him said, We be ______ able to go up against the people; for they are stronger than we.”
  2. Numbers 14:1-10 affirms the same thing, that not all rebelled, “And all the congregation lifted up their voice, and cried; and the people wept that night. And all the children of Israel murmured against Moses and against Aaron: and the whole congregation said unto them, Would God that we had died in the land of Egypt! or would God we had died in this wilderness! And wherefore hath the LORD brought us unto this land, to fall by the sword, that our wives and our children should be a prey? were it not better for us to return into Egypt? And they said one to another, Let us make a captain, and let us return into Egypt. Then Moses and Aaron fell on their faces before all the assembly of the congregation of the children of Israel. And ____________ the son of Nun, and __________ the son of Jephunneh, which were of them that searched the land, rent their clothes: And they spake unto all the company of the children of Israel, saying, The land, which we passed through to search it, is an exceeding good land. If the LORD delight in us, then he will bring us into this land, and give it us; a land which floweth with milk and honey. Only rebel ______ ye against the LORD, neither fear ye the people of the land; for they are bread for us: their defence is departed from them, and the ________ is with us: fear them not. But all the congregation bade stone them with stones. And the glory of the LORD appeared in the tabernacle of the congregation before all the children of Israel.”
  3. Once again, Joshua 14:6-13 proves that not all rebelled, “Then the children of Judah came unto Joshua in Gilgal: and Caleb the son of Jephunneh the Kenezite said unto him, Thou knowest the thing that the LORD said unto Moses the man of God concerning me and thee in Kadeshbarnea. Forty years old was I when Moses the servant of the LORD sent me from Kadeshbarnea to espy out the land; and I brought him word again as it was in mine heart. Nevertheless my brethren that went up with me made the heart of the people melt: but I wholly ________________ the LORD my God. And Moses sware on that day, saying, Surely the land whereon thy feet have trodden shall be thine inheritance, and thy children’s for ever, because thou hast wholly ________________ the LORD my God. And now, behold, the LORD hath kept me alive, as he said, these forty and five years, even since the LORD spake this word unto Moses, while the children of Israel wandered in the wilderness: and now, lo, I am this day fourscore and five years old. As yet I am as strong this day as I was in the day that Moses sent me: as my strength was then, even so is my strength now, for war, both to go out, and to come in. Now therefore give me this mountain, whereof the LORD spake in that day; for thou heardest in that day how the Anakims were there, and that the cities were great and fenced: if so be the LORD will be with me, then I shall be able to drive them out, as the LORD said. And Joshua ______________ him, and gave unto Caleb the son of Jephunneh Hebron for an inheritance.”

 

The NKJV translators made a clear contradiction of Scripture when they said,

“WAS IT NOT ALL (who rebelled)?” The KJV is correct when it says, “SOME… NOT ALL” rebelled.

 

  1. Proverbs 30:5, 6 warns, “Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him. Add thou not unto his words, lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a ________.”

Chapter 4

 

III. Examples Of Changes In The New King James Version (continued).

 

#4 — Heb. 2:14-17

KJV (King James Version)  –   “14 Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil;  15 And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.  16 For verily he took ______ on him the NATURE OF ____________; but he took on him the seed of Abraham. “17 Wherefore in all things it behoved him to be made like unto his brethren, that he might be a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make reconciliation for the sins of the people.”

NKJV (New King James Version)   –  “16 For indeed He does not give AID TO ANGELS, but He does give aid to the seed of Abraham.”

NWT (New World Translation — Jehovah’s Witnesses)  –  “16 For he is really not ASSISTING ANGELS at all, but he is assisting Abraham’s seed.”

 

We can understand the Jehovah’s Witnesses wanting to change this passage, because they

do not accept that the Lord Jesus Christ, God Almighty, came in the flesh to redeem mankind.

The Jehovah’s Witnesses say, “The foremost angel, both in power and authority is the archangel,

Jesus Christ, also called Michael” (The Watchtower, Nov. 1, 1995, http://www.afcministry.com/What_do_Jehovahs_Witnesses_believe.htm).

What the translators of the NKJV have done here is give aid to the cults in their false teaching.

 

Note:   This was not an update of archaic words, but a total change in meaning, proving, once again, that the NKJV translators were dishonest in what they stated as their purpose for making a new translation: “To update… words whose English meaning has changed.” By making this change, the NKJV translators have made another error and have made a false statement. They have stated that God does not give aid to angels. That is not true. God does give aid to angels, or angels would be unable to do anything. Angels are not omnipotent (all powerful) beings. They depend upon God for their strength, just like we do.

  1. Jude 1:9 says, “Yet Michael the __________________, when ____________________ with the devil he disputed about the body of Moses, durst not bring against him a railing accusation, but said, The ________ rebuke thee.”

Note:   We find here that Michael the archangel was disputing with the devil about the body of Moses. Michael did NOT try to REBUKE the devil in his own power, but called upon the Lord to do it, “The Lord rebuke thee.” God does give aid to His angels, or they would have no power. The NKJV translators have made an absolutely false statement here.

  1. Revelation 15:7 says, “And one of the four beasts gave unto the seven ____________ seven golden vials full of the wrath of ______, who liveth for ever and ever.”

Note:   It is not the wrath of these angels that is being poured out upon earth. The angels are simply the means by which God is delivering His wrath upon earth.

  1. Hebrews 2:5 says, “For unto the ____________ hath he not put in subjection the __________ to come, whereof we speak.”

Note:   The angels are not in charge of the world to come. They are subject to God’s will and His power.

  1. Psalms 103:20, 21 says, “Bless the LORD, ye his ____________, that excel in strength, that do his ________________________, hearkening unto the voice of his ________. Bless ye the LORD, all ye his hosts; ye ministers of his, that do his ________________.”

Note:    Angels are not all-powerful. They cannot fulfill God’s pleasure by their own power, but only by being aided or given power by God to fulfill such tasks. The NKJV translators have made a serious error here, and also aided the Jehovah’s Witness false doctrine.

 

#5 — 2 Kings 23:29

KJV (King James Version)  –   “In his days Pharaohnechoh king of Egypt went up ______________ the king of Assyria to the river Euphrates: and king Josiah went against him; and he slew him at Megiddo, when he had seen him.”

NKJV (New King James Version)   –  “In his days Pharaoh Necho king of Egypt went to the AID of the king of Assyria, to the River Euphrates; and King Josiah went against him. And Pharaoh Necho killed him at Megiddo when he confronted him.”

Note:    Remember the translators stated purpose? “UPDATE… with regard to words whose English meaning has changed.” That statement is deceitful, because going “AGAINST” someone, and going to their “AID”, is the exact opposite in meaning. There is no reason for the change in words, as far as the language goes. Remember, translating the Bible is not just looking up in a dictionary the meaning of a word, and then randomly choosing one of the many options. Translation is a spiritual work that must consider the context and compare it with the rest of the Bible.

  1. 1 Corinthians 2:13 says, “Which things also we speak, not in the words which _________ wisdom teacheth, but which the ________ __________ teacheth; comparing spiritual things with __________________.”

Note:   It appears that the translators changed this word to match up with the supposed dates of when the Assyrians fell to the Babylonians. They claim that Assyria had already fallen to Babylon, so that Pharaoh then must have been coming up to the aid of the king of Assyria — not to go up against him.

 

The NKJV translators were thus not updating words, but correcting

what they felt was an error in the Bible. This, once again, shows their deceit.

 

  1. 1 Timothy 6:20-21 says, “O Timothy, keep that which is committed to thy trust, avoiding profane and vain babblings, and _______________________ of science ______________ so called: Which some professing have erred concerning the faith. Grace be with thee. Amen.”

Note:   To show that there is no basis, as far as language goes, to change aid to against, notice how this same Hebrew word (al – Strong’s #5921) is used in the previous chapters and verses.

2 Kings 21:23    –   “And the servants of Amon conspired ______________ him, and slew the king in his own house.”

Does that sound like those servants came to the aid of Amon? No, they clearly came against him. It is the same Hebrew word, al.

2 Kings 22:13   –   “Go ye, inquire of the LORD for me, and for the people, and for all Judah, concerning the words of this book that is found: for great is the wrath of the LORD that is kindled ______________ us, because our fathers have not hearkened unto the words of this book, to do according unto all that which is written concerning us.”

Does that sound like the Lord was coming to the aid of them? No, He was coming against them. It is the same Hebrew word, al.

2 Kings 22:17   –    “Because they have forsaken me, and have burned incense unto other gods, that they might provoke me to anger with all the works of their hands; therefore my wrath shall be kindled ______________ this place, and shall not be quenched.”

Was the Lord going to come to the aid of that place? No, He was coming against that place. It is the same Hebrew word, al.

2 Ki. 22:19   –  “Because thine heart was tender, and thou hast humbled thyself before the LORD, when thou heardest what I spake ______________ this place, and ______________ the inhabitants thereof, that they should become a desolation and a curse, and hast rent thy clothes, and wept before me; I also have heard thee, saith the LORD.”

Was the Lord going to come to the aid of that place and people? No, He was coming against them. It is the same Hebrew word, al.

2 Kings 23:26   –   “Notwithstanding the LORD turned not from the fierceness of his great wrath, wherewith his anger was kindled ______________ Judah, because of all the provocations that Manasseh had provoked him withal.”

Was the Lord pronouncing His aid for Judah? No, He was pronouncing His anger toward them. It is the same Hebrew word, al.

 

In all of that context, the NKJV translators suddenly changed the Hebrew word, al,

from against  to aid.  What they were showing was their unbelief in the preservation of

the Scriptures. If the translators of the NKJV thought that there were errors

that had crept into the text, why were they not honest enough to admit it?

 

God has promised to preserve His Word pure from errors.

  1. Psalms 12:6-7 says, “Psalms 12:6-7 says, “The words of the LORD are ________ words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. Thou shalt keep them, O LORD, thou shalt ________________ them from this generation for ever.”

 

#6 — 1 Tim. 6:5

KJV (King James Version)    –  “Perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing that GAIN IS __________________: from such withdraw thyself.”

NKJV (New King James Version)    –  “Useless wranglings[a] of men of corrupt minds and destitute of the truth, who suppose that GODLINESS IS A MEANS OF GAIN. From such withdraw yourself.[b]”

NWT (New World Translation — Jehovah’s Witnesses)   –  “Violent disputes about trifles on the part of men corrupted in mind and despoiled of the truth, thinking that GODLY DEVOTION IS A MEANS OF GAIN.”

Note:   This change is focusing upon two different groups of people. In the KJV, the group in mind has gain, and they think that it is proof of their godliness. They are the self-righteous people who look to their prosperity as the proof that God is pleased with them.

In the NKJV and the NWT, the group in mind is looking for ways to get gain, and so they carnally consider that acting godly may bring them their desires. They are the evil people who are trying to find ways to get rich. Once again, the NKJV translators have shown that their stated purpose was not their real purpose. They did not update any Old English words in that verse ? they literally changed the verse around to deal with the opposite crowd.

 

#7 — 2 Corinthians 2:17

KJV (King James Version)    –  “For we are not as many, which ______________ the word of God: but as of sincerity, but as of God, in the sight of God speak we in Christ.”

NKJV (New King James Version)    –  “For we are not, as so many,[a] PEDDLING the word of God; but as of sincerity, but as from God, we speak in the sight of God in Christ.”

NWT (New World Translation — Jehovah’s Witnesses)   –  “[We are;] for we are not PEDDLERS of the word of God as many men are, but as out of sincerity, yes, as sent from God, under God’s view, in company with Christ, we are speaking.”

 

Is it not strange that the NKJV translators once again chose

to make the same exact change as did the Jehovah’s Witnesses?

 

Note:   Once again, the NKJV translators have shown that their stated purpose was not their real agenda. Did they just UPDATE Old English words here in this verse? No. Has the word “CORRUPT” now been changed to “PEDDLE” in our language? No. Corrupt means “to break, separate or dissolve. Hence:    1. “To change from a sound to a putrid… state; to separate the component parts of a body, as by a natural process, which accompanied by a fetid smell.”    2. “To waste, spoil or consume.”   3. “To defile or pollute.” Exodus 32.   4. “To entice from good and allure to evil.”  2 Corinthians 11.     5. “To pervert; to break, disobey or make void.”  Malachi 2.    6. “To pervert or vitiate integrity; to bribe; as, to corrupt a judge.”    7. “To debase or render impure, by alterations or innovations; as, to corrupt language.”    8. “To pervert; to falsify; to infect with errors; as, to corrupt the sacred text” (Noah Webster’s 1828 Dictionary).

Note:    Consider the first part of that definition: “to change from a sound to a putrid… state; to separate the component parts of a body, as by a natural process, which accompanied by a fetid smell.” That fits the context of that verse perfectly.

  1. 2 Corinthians 2:14-16 says, “Now thanks be unto God, which always causeth us to triumph in Christ, and maketh manifest the ____________ of his knowledge by us in every place. For we are unto God a __________ savour of Christ, in them that are saved, and in them that perish: To the one we are the ____________ of __________ unto death; and to the other the ____________ of ________ unto life. And who is sufficient for these things?”

Note:   The word savour means, “the taste or SMELL of something; a particular flavor or SMELL” (Merriam-Webster’s 11th Collegiate Dictionary).   Thus, the use of the word corrupt in the KJV, perfectly fits the context. Does the word peddle, used by the NKJV and the Jehovah’s Witnesses fit the context? No. The word peddle means, “to travel about with wares for sale” (Merriam-Webster’s 11th Collegiate Dictionary).

 

What is interesting is that both the NKJV translators and the Jehovah’s Witnesses have violated

their own faulty translation of this verse, because both groups are peddling (traveling about trying to sell)

their translations. Right inside the cover of the NKJV it gives the details of their copyright stipulations.

You can only copy a certain amount of the NKJV, or else you have to pay royalties to the Thomas Nelson company;

but you can freely copy the King James Version (in Great Britan, you may first need permission from the

Royal Printer – people in that country should check before printing).

 

If your KJV has a copyright on it, then one of two things is true:    #1 — You have a corrupt KJV that has been subtly changed by the publisher (enough to be able to place their own copyright on it – they have to make a certain number of changes to be eligible to do that).    #2 — The other case is that it is the notes or the maps or some other Bible helps in the Bible that the publisher is copyrighting — NOT the TEXT of the Scripture.

 

If you have a KJV that stipulates a copyright on the text of Scripture itself,

then you have a corrupted text, and need to replace it with a real KJV.

III. Examples Of Changes In The New King James Version (continued).

 

#8 — 2 Timothy 2:15

KJV (King James Version)    –   “__________ to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.”

NKJV (New King James Version)    –   “BE DILIGENT to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.”

Note:   Is the word study out-of-date? Who does not understand that word? The problem is not a lack of understanding, but a lack of ambition.

  1. Ecclesiastes 12:12 says, “And further, by these, my son, be admonished: of making many books there is no end; and much __________ is a ____________________ of the flesh.”

Note:   The word study means, “application of the mental faculties to the acquisition of knowledge” (Merriam-Webster’s 11th Collegiate Dictionary).   Another dictionary defines it as, “a setting of the mind or thoughts upon a subject; to fix the mind closely upon a subject; to muse; to dwell upon in thought” (Noah Webster’s 1828 Dictionary).

Illustration:    What would happen if your son had a lot of homework to do, and, just before you had to leave for a while you told him, “NOW BE DILIGENT while I am gone!” What would that mean? In your absence, he might be diligent in playing video games. He might be diligent in eating snacks. He might be diligent in talking on the telephone. You can be diligent in many different activities, but there is NO QUESTION about the word STUDY. There is no need to change the word study in that verse. The word has not changed, but people have gotten lazy. If Christians had truly studied their Bibles, they would have never switched from the KJV to the NKJV.

  1. Acts 17:11 says, “These were more __________ than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and ________________ the scriptures daily, whether those things were ____.”

 

#9 — Proverbs 29:7

KJV (King James Version)    –  “The righteous considereth the cause of the poor: but the wicked __________________ ______ TO KNOW IT.”

NKJV (New King James Version)    –  “The righteous considers the cause of the poor, But the wicked DOES NOT UNDERSTAND SUCH KNOWLEDGE.”

Note: The word regard means, “attention, consideration” (Merriam-Webster’s 11th Collegiate Dictionary).   The NKJV gives a very foolish translation of this verse. It is not that the wicked does not understand that the poor needs help. How much intelligence do you need to look at a poor man and know that he is poor? Not much. The problem is that the wicked person does not care — he does not regard or pay any attention or give any consideration to what he might do to help the poor man.

 

#10 — Rom. 1:18-21

KJV (King James Version)    –  “18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who ________ the truth in unrighteousness; 19 Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath showed it unto them. 20 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse: 21 Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.”

NKJV (New King James Version)    –  “18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who SUPPRESS the truth in unrighteousness.”

NWT (New World Translation — Jehovah’s Witnesses)   –  “18 For God’s wrath is being revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men who are SUPPRESSING the truth in an unrighteous way.”

Note:   Once again, it is strange that the translators of the NKJV chose the same exact word as the Jehovah’s Witnesses. It makes one wonder if they thought that the Jehovah’s Witnesses produced a better translation than the KJV, seeming they followed them exactly in so many instances. We know why the Jehovah’s Witnesses wanted their own translation, because their doctrine is corrupt, and it was hard to keep going against the clear teachings of the KJV. Seeming the NKJV exactly follows the changes of the Jehovah’s Witnesses, what does that show us about them?

Note:   They changed the word hold to suppress. The word hold is defined as “to have possession or ownership of” (Merriam-Webster’s 11th Collegiate Dictionary). The word suppress means, “to stop or prohibit the publication or revelation of; to exclude from consciousness” (Merriam-Webster’s 11th Collegiate Dictionary).

  1. The SAME GREEK WORD is used in 1 Thessalonians 5:21, which says, “Prove all things; ________ fast that which is good.”

Note:   What if that word was translated suppress there? Would that have changed the meaning of the verse? It would have given the verse the exact opposite meaning than what was intended. God does NOT want us to suppress the truth (to stop or prohibit the publication, to exclude from consciousness), but to hold it fast.

Note:   Once again, the context proves their translation to be faulty. The focus is not upon people trying to actively suppress the Word of God by burning Bibles, or trying to get Creation banned from being taught in the schools, or trying to get the Ten Commandments removed, etc. The focus is about those who are holding the truth that God has shown to them, and then not practicing what they know to be true. “19 Because that which may be known of God IS MANIFEST IN THEM; for God hath showed it unto them. 20 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world ARE CLEARLY SEEN, BEING UNDERSTOOD by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse: 21 Because that, WHEN THEY KNEW GOD, THEY GLORIFIED HIM NOT AS GOD, NEITHER WERE THANKFUL; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.”

 

#11 — 1 Corinthians 1:18

KJV (King James Version)    –  “For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are __________ it is the power of God.”

NKJV (New King James Version)    –  “For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are BEING SAVED it is the power of God.”

NWT (New World Translation — Jehovah’s Witnesses)   –  “For the speech about the torture stake is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are BEING SAVED it is God’s power.”

 

Is salvation a process? When you repent of your sin and ask

the Lord Jesus Christ to save you, does that only begin  a process that leads up to salvation? No.

 

Note:   We can understand why the Jehovah’s Witnesses changed the verse, because that is what they believe, that they are being saved by doing things for God — like going out witnessing. But that is a false works salvation.

  1. Ephesians 2:8-9 says, “For by grace are ye saved through __________; and that not of yourselves: it is the ________ of God: ______ of __________, lest any man should boast.”
  2. Titus 3:5 says, “______ by __________ of righteousness which ____ have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost.”

Note:   What do the translators of the NKJV believe, to have made the same change as the Jehovah’s Witnesses? Is asking Jesus for salvation like applying for a credit card? Is it something that you have to wait and see if He accepts you? No.

  1. Revelation 22:17 says, “And the Spirit and the bride say, ________. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And __________________ will, let him take the water of life ____________.”
  2. Romans 10:13 says, “For whosoever __________   ________ upon the name of the Lord __________   ____    __________.”

Note:   If anyone “shall call” upon the name of the Lord (in true repentance and faith), then that person “shall be saved.” It does NOT say, “If anyone starts calling upon the Lord to save him, then he will start being saved.” It is a request, and then an immediate deliverance. The Greek word used for “shall be saved” is sozo (pronounced “sode’-zo”). Notice its usage in the following verses.

  1. Matthew 8:24-26 says, “And, behold, there arose a great tempest in the sea, insomuch that the ship was covered with the waves: but he was asleep. And his disciples came to him, and awoke him, saying, Lord, ________    ____: we perish. And he saith unto them, Why are ye fearful, O ye of little faith? Then he arose, and rebuked the winds and the sea; and there was a great ________.”

Note:   The word save is the same Greek word. They were afraid of being drowned (which is not a long process!). When they cried out to the Lord, they needed immediate and full deliverance, and that is exactly what the Lord gave them. There was an immediate and great calm. Even so it is in the life of a repentant person when that cry for salvation is made to the Lord. God immediately saves that person, and gives great peace in the soul.

  1. A blind man greatly desired to be healed in Luke 18:40-43: “And Jesus stood, and commanded him to be brought unto him: and when he was come near, he asked him, Saying, What wilt thou that I shall do unto thee? And he said, Lord, that I may receive my sight. And Jesus said unto him, Receive thy sight: thy __________ hath __________ thee. And ______________________ he received his sight, and followed him, glorifying God: and all the people, when they saw it, gave praise unto God.”

Note:   The word save is the same Greek word. It was not a process (being saved), but an immediate and finished deliverance. Multitudes of people in this world have stumbled over works, thinking that they can begin a process of good works that will one day culminate in their salvation. Sadly, they will one day find themselves cast into hell, unless they repent and get saved.

  1. Romans 9:31-10:1 says, “But Israel, which followed after the law of righteousness, hath not attained to the law of righteousness. Wherefore? Because they sought it ______ by faith, but as it were by the __________ of the law. For they ________________ at that stumblingstone; As it is written, Behold, I lay in Sion a stumblingstone and rock of offence: and whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed. Brethren, my heart’s desire and prayer to God for Israel is, that they might be __________.”

 

This change in the NKJV will serve to spread the false doctrine that salvation starts  by accepting Jesus as Savior,

but then is completed   by a person’s own good works. How can you show the cults that they are wrong in their

doctrine, when many of the passages in the NKJV have been changed to match the readings of the cultists?

 

#12 — 2 Corinthians 2:15

KJV (King James Version)    –  “For we are unto God a sweet savour of Christ, in them that are __________, and in them that perish.”

NKJV (New King James Version)    –  “For we are to God the fragrance of Christ among those who are BEING SAVED and among those who are perishing.”

NWT (New World Translation — Jehovah’s Witnesses)   –  “For to God we are a sweet odor of Christ among those who are BEING SAVED and among those who are perishing.”

Note:   Once again, the NKJV version follows the same exact change as the Jehovah’s Witnesses. This change serves the cults well. The Catholic church teaches that salvation is a process: getting baptized starts it; asking Jesus to save you continues it; as does confirmation; mass, and the other seven sacraments. Those seven things are not really sacraments (means of grace), but are shackles (binding people to false doctrine) that send those that trust in them to an eternal fire in hell.

 

#13 — Matthew 21:32

KJV (King James Version)    –  “For John came unto you in the way of righteousness, and ye believed him not: but the publicans and the harlots believed him: and ye, when ye had seen it, ________________ not afterward, that ye might believe him.”

NKJV (New King James Version)    –  “For John came to you in the way of righteousness, and you did not believe him; but tax collectors and harlots believed him; and when you saw it, you did not afterward RELENT and believe him.”

Note:   The word relent means, “to become less severe, harsh, or strict; to cease resistance; give in; let up, slacken, mollify” (Merriam-Webster’s 11th Collegiate Dictionary).

 

You can relent   and give in to someone who has you out-numbered or out-powered, but that

does not mean that you would continue following that one if there seemed to arise another choice.

 

Notice some examples where people relented (gave in to someone), until the situation was changed.

  1. 1 Kings 1:5, 7 says, “Then Adonijah the son of Haggith ______________ himself, saying, I will be ________: and he prepared him chariots and horsemen, and fifty men to run before him. …And he conferred with _______ the son of Zeruiah, and with ________________ the priest: and they following Adonijah ____________ him.”
  2. But when the power situation changed (Solomon was quickly anointed to be the next king), then notice what happened to those helping Adonijah. 1 Kings 1:43, 49 says, “And Jonathan answered and said to Adonijah, Verily our lord king David hath made ______________ king. …And all the guests that were with Adonijah were ____________, and rose up, and went __________ man his way.”

Note:   There is a big difference between relenting and repenting. The word repent means, “to turn from sin and dedicate oneself to the amendment of one’s life; to feel regret or contrition; to change one’s mind; to cause to feel regret or contrition; to feel sorrow, regret, or contrition for” (Merriam-Webster’s 11th Collegiate Dictionary).  True repentance in your life will bring about a change from which you will never repent. Notice carefully the following verses.

  1. 2 Corinthians 7:9-11 says, “Now I rejoice, not that ye were made sorry, but that ye sorrowed to ____________________: for ye were made sorry after a godly manner, that ye might receive damage by us in nothing. For godly sorrow worketh ____________________ to salvation ______ to be ________________ of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death. For behold this selfsame thing, that ye sorrowed after a godly sort, what carefulness it wrought in you, yea, what clearing of yourselves, yea, what indignation, yea, what fear, yea, what vehement desire, yea, what zeal, yea, what revenge! In all things ye have approved yourselves to be clear in this matter.”

Note:   There is a big difference between relenting and repenting. If you just relent under someone’s power, then you will probably change some day. But true repentance leading to salvation is something from which a person will never turn. In other words, no one who truly gets born again will ever wish that he was lost again. No one who gets saved will ever come to the place where he wishes that he was under Satan’s control again. No one who truly repents and gets saved will ever repent of that decision. A Christian may sometimes yield to the flesh and sin, but a true, born again, blood-washed Christian will never come to the place where he wishes that he had never gotten saved. There is a tremendous difference between relenting and truly repenting.

 

The Millennium is a good example of a large number of people that relent, but do not truly repent.

 

  1. Revelation 19:15-16 says, “And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall ________ them with a ______ of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, ________ OF KINGS, AND ________ OF LORDS.”
  2. Revelation 20:2 says, “And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the __________, and __________, and bound him a ________________ years.”
  3. Revelation 20:7-8 says, “And when the thousand years are expired, __________ shall be loosed out of his ____________, And shall go out to ______________ the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to battle: the ____________ of whom is as the ________ of the sea.”

Note:   We find here that the Lord Jesus Christ is going to rule upon earth, after the Tribulation Period, for a thousand years. During that time, Satan is going to be bound in prison. At the end of those thousand years, Satan is going to be loosed for a short time. He is going to go out and deceive people (the number of whom is as the sand of the sea) to FOLLOW HIM in rebellion against the Lord. That is a good example of people who relented under the power of the Lord (ruling with a rod of iron) for a thousand years, but never truly repented. Because when they get the chance, they are going to follow someone else (Satan) in rebellion against God.

  1. Isaiah 26:9-10 describes those people during the Millennium who only relent, but do not repent. “With my soul have I desired thee in the night; yea, with my spirit within me will I seek thee early: for when thy judgments are in the earth, the inhabitants of the world will learn righteousness. Let ____________ be shewed to the ____________, yet will he ______ learn righteousness: in the land of uprightness will he deal ________________, and will not behold the _____________ of the LORD.”

Note:   The translators of the NKJV have made a grave error here that leads people astray. No one will ever get to heaven that has just relented of their sin — only those who have truly repented.

  1. Jesus said in Luke 13:3, “I tell you, Nay: but, except ye ____________, ye shall all likewise ____________.”

  2. The stated purpose of making the NKJV was thus, “To ____________… archaic verbs and pronouns”; and “…accuracy with regard to words whose English meaning has ______________ over a period of 3 1/2 centuries” (http://av1611.com/kjbp/articles/reynolds-nkjv.html).
  3. The NKJV changed the word princes to ______________, in Daniel 3:3. Do you think that change made the Bible easier to understand for little Joe Moore — or harder?
  4. According to Merriam-Webster’s 11th Collegiate Dictionary, that word is from the 14th century. The KJV was first published in 1611 (the 17th century). So the NKJV translators did not update this verse, but took away a commonly understood word (princes), and inserted a word which was 3 centuries __________ and placed it into the text.
  5. The three-cornered symbol, called a __________________, is used on the New King James Version. The same symbol is also a used on a witches’ book called, The Craft; it was also a featured symbol on an occult television drama called Charmed; it was also the symbol used by the satanic rock group Led Zeppelin.
  6. 1 Thessalonians 5:22 says, “Abstain from all appearance of ________.”
  7. In the KJV, Proverbs 25:23 says, “The north wind ______________   ________ rain: so doth an angry countenance a backbiting tongue,” but the NKJV says, “The north wind brings forth rain.” They have not updated the verse, but have turned it around to say the opposite thing. They have corrupted the Bible, plus they have made a false statement in regard to the weather.
  8. If the Lord says that when the north wind begins to blow, it is going to drive away the rain, can you trust that statement? If God does not even understand the weather, then how could you trust Him with your ________?
  9. In the KJV, Acts 3:26 says, “Unto you first God, having raised up his ______ Jesus, sent him to bless you, in turning away every one of you from his iniquities.” The NKJV changes that to “His Servant Jesus.” (If you have a son, start calling him servant, and see if he likes your update of the English language!).
  10. 1 Corinthians 2:12-14 says, “Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God. Which things also we speak, not in the words which man’s wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; __________________ spiritual things with __________________. But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually __________________.”
  11. Translating the Bible is more than just learning another language. It is not just a scholarly task – it is a __________________ task. It is something which requires spiritual discernment.
  12. The KJV says in Hebrews 3:16, “For ________, when they had heard, did provoke: howbeit ______ ______ that came out of Egypt by Moses.” The NKJV makes a false statement when it says, “For who, having heard, rebelled? Indeed, was it not all who came out of Egypt, led by Moses?” That is not true, because Joshua and Caleb did not rebell.
  13. The KJV says of Jesus in Hebrews 2:16, “For verily he took ______ on him the ____________ of ____________; but he took on him the seed of Abraham.” The NKJV says, “For indeed He does not give aid to angels, but He does give aid to the seed of Abraham.” Thus they destroyed a good verse to show the cults that Jesus did not come as an angelic being, but as the Son of God in real human flesh. Also, God does give aid to angels, or they would have no power.
  14. Jude 1:9 says, “Yet Michael the __________________, when ____________________ with the devil he disputed about the body of Moses, durst not bring against him a railing accusation, but said, The ________ rebuke thee.”
  15. Angels are ______ all-powerful. They cannot fulfill God’s pleasure by their ______ power, but only by being aided or given power by God to fulfill such tasks.
  16. The KJV says in 2 Kings 23:29 that, “Pharaohnechoh king of Egypt went up ______________ the king of Assyria.” The NKJV says, Pharaoh Necho king of Egypt went to the AID of the king of Assyria.” That is not an update of language, but is totally reversing the meaning of the verse.
  17. The KJV says in 2 Corinthians 2:17, “For we are not as many, which ______________ the word of God.” The NKJV says, “For we are not, as so many,[a] PEDDLING the word of God.” The word corrupt means “to break, separate, or dissolve,” but the word peddle means “to travel about with wares for sale.” That is not updating words.
  18. The KJV says in 2 Timothy 2:15, “__________ to show thyself approved unto God.” The NKJV says, “BE DILIGENT to present yourself approved to God.” Is the word study out-of-date?
  19. The word study is clearly understood. The problem is that people do not like that word, because it means work. Ecclesiastes 12:12 says, “…much __________ is a ____________________ of the flesh.”
  20. The KJV says in 1 Corinthians 1:18, “For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are __________ it is the power of God.” The NKJV says, “to us who are BEING SAVED…” Is salvation a process? When you repent of your sin and ask the Lord Jesus Christ to save you, does that only begin a process that leads up to salvation? No, that is false doctrine.
  21. The KJV says in Matthew 21:32, “For John came unto you in the way of righteousness, and ye believed him not: but the publicans and the harlots believed him: and ye, when ye had seen it, ________________ not afterward, that ye might believe him.” The NKJV says, “…you did not afterward RELENT and believe him.” The word relent means, “to become less severe, harsh, or strict; to cease resistance; give in; let up, slacken, mollify” (Merriam-Webster’s 11th Collegiate Dictionary).  You can relent and give in to someone who has you out-numbered or out-powered, but that does not mean that you would continue following that one if there seemed to arise another choice.

 

 

 

Are you certain that if you died today, you would go to heaven?

 

  1. Do you realize that you have sinned?

(Romans 3:23)  “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.”

(1 John 1:8)   “If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.”

(Ecclesiastes 7:20)   “For there is not a just man upon earth, that doeth good, and sinneth not.”

 

  1. Do you realize the penalty for your sin?

(Romans 6:23)   “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”

 

  1. Do you realize that if you die in your sin, you will go to hell?

(Psalms 9:17)   “The wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the nations that forget God.”

(Proverbs 15:24)   “The way of life is above to the wise, that he may depart from hell beneath.”

(Luke 12:4-5)   “And I say unto you my friends, Be not afraid of them that kill the body, and after that have no more that they can do.   But I will forewarn you whom ye shall fear: Fear him, which after he hath killed hath power to cast into hell; yea, I say unto you, Fear him.”

 

  1. Do you realize that the Lord Jesus Christ, God in the flesh, paid that death penalty for you?

(Matthew 1:21-23)    “And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.    Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying,     Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.”

(John 14:6-7)    “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.   If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him.”

(John 3:16)    “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

(Romans 5:8)   “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”

(1 Peter 3:18)   “For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit.”

(1 Peter 2:24)   “Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.”

 

  1. Do you realize that it is only through the shed blood of the Lord Jesus Christ that you can be saved, and not through any good works of your own?

(1 John 1:7)   “But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.”

(1 Peter 1:18-19)   “Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers;    But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot.”

(Ephesians 2:8-9)   “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:    Not of works, lest any man should boast.”

(Titus 3:5-7)   “Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;   Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour;   That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.”

 

  1. Do you realize that after Jesus died for your sins, He arose victorious from the grave the third day, proving that His sacrifice was sufficient to pay for all of the sins of the whole world?

(1 Corinthians 15:1-4)    “Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;   By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.    For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;   And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures.”

 

  1. Do you realize that to be saved you must repent (you must have the desire to turn from your sin and false beliefs, and have the desire for God to transform your life)?

(Luke 13:3)   “I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.”

(Acts 3:19)   “Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord.”

(Acts 26:20)   “But shewed first unto them of Damascus, and at Jerusalem, and throughout all the coasts of Judaea, and then to the Gentiles, that they should repent and turn to God, and do works meet for repentance.”

(Mark 9:43-48)   “And if thy hand offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter into life maimed, than having two hands to go into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched:   Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched.   And if thy foot offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter halt into life, than having two feet to be cast into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched:   Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched.   And if thine eye offend thee, pluck it out: it is better for thee to enter into the kingdom of God with one eye, than having two eyes to be cast into hell fire:   Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched.”

 

  1. Do you realize that after you get saved, God’s first command for you is to get baptized and then to live for Him?

(Acts 2:41)   “Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls.”

(Romans 6:1-4)   “What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?   God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?   Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?    Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.”

(2 Corinthians 5:17)    “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.”

(Titus 3:3-8)   “For we ourselves also were sometimes foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving divers lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another.   But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared,   Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;   Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour;   That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.   This is a faithful saying, and these things I will that thou affirm constantly, that they which have believed in God might be careful to maintain good works. These things are good and profitable unto men.”

(Titus 2:11-14)    “For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men,   Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;   Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;   Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.”

(1 Corinthians 6:9-11)   “Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind,   Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.   And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.”

(Galatians 5:19-26)   “Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,   Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,   Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.   But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,    Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.   And they that are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.   If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.   Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another.”

(1 Corinthians 11:14-15)   “Doth not even nature itself teach you, that, if a man have long hair, it is a shame unto him?    But if a woman have long hair, it is a glory to her: for her hair is given her for a covering.”

(Deuteronomy 22:5)   “The woman shall not wear that which pertaineth unto a man, neither shall a man put on a woman’s garment: for all that do so are abomination unto the LORD thy God.”

(Ephesians 4:22-32)   “That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts;   And be renewed in the spirit of your mind;   And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.    Wherefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbour: for we are members one of another.   Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath:   Neither give place to the devil.   Let him that stole steal no more: but rather let him labour, working with his hands the thing which is good, that he may have to give to him that needeth.   Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.   And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.   Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice:    And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.”

 

  1. Are you ready to now ask the Lord Jesus Christ to forgive you of all your sins, and to save you?

(John 1:12)   “But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name.”

(Romans 10:9-11)   “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.   For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.    For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.”

(Romans 10:13)   “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”

(1 John 5:13)   “These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.”

 

 

ATTENTION:    If you die before you make this decision, then you will spend eternity in the torment of hell fire.  Turn from your wickedness and sin, and humble yourself before Almighty God right now.

Bow your head right now and confess to God that you are a sinner deserving judgment.  Ask the Lord Jesus Christ to forgive you of all your sins, and to save you.  Tell Him that you now repent, and ask Him to cleanse your life, and to give you the power to live for Him.  Tell Him that you are trusting in His shed blood alone to cleanse you from all your sin.  Ask Him to lead you to a good, Bible-preaching church, where you can follow the first command after salvation — that of getting baptized and publicly confessing your faith in Him.  Ask Him to help you find some good Christian friends to encourage you in the faith and to help you grow.
