Chapter 1

Genesis 1:6-8

  1. Genesis 1:6 says, “And God said, Let there be a __________________ in the midst of the waters, and let it ____________ the waters from the waters.”

Note:  Because the word firmament contains the word firm in it, we may read this word and get the mistaken idea that it refers to something firm, like, solid ground.  That misconception causes us to have the wrong picture in our minds as to what is being described.

This firmament is NOT dividing the waters

horizontally by the use of “firm” ground; that is,

this is NOT referring to when God created the

continents of land to separate the oceans and the seas.

What is being referred to here is a VERTICAL separation,

so that there is water above and below the firmament.

  1. Genesis 1:7 says, “And God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were __________ the firmament from the waters which were __________ the firmament: and it was so.”

Note:  What is this firmament?

  1. Genesis 1:8 says, “And God called the firmament ____________. And the evening and the morning were the second day.”

Note:  The context will answer a lot of questions that you have about the Bible, and it should always be studied first.  After that, there are other Bible study helps that you can consider.

A good concordance, like Strong’s Concordance, will help you in your Bible study.  It lists every word in the Bible, and tells you the chapter and verse in which it is located.  It then numbers those words according to the Hebrew language in the Old Testament (the Old Testament was originally written in Hebrew); and the Greek language for the New Testament (the New Testament was originally written in Greek); and then it gives the definitions for those words in the back of the concordance.

Many Bible computer programs now include Strong’s Concordance, and each word in the Bible is linked to the Greek or Hebrew word, and includes the Strong’s numbering system.

In this case, we are looking at a verse in the Old Testament, so in Strong’s Concordance, it is numbered as 7549, and can be found in the Hebrew section in the back of the book.  Here is how the word is defined there: “an expanse, i.e. the firmament or (apparently) visible ARCH of the SKY.”

For your Bible study it is also helpful to use a good English dictionary, such as Noah Webster’s 1828 Dictionary, or a Merriam-Webster’s Collegiate Dictionary.  A word of caution is needed when using a dictionary, because several possible meanings will be listed for most words, so NOTHING can take the place of READING the CONTEXT of the verse.

In this case, Merriam-Webster’s 11th Collegiate Dictionary lists the meaning as, “the vault or ARCH of the SKY.”

Both of these books define the firmament as the “ARCH of the SKY.”

So the firmament  is what we would refer to today as the atmosphere.

This means that there was a body of water ABOVE the atmosphere,

and a body of water BELOW it.

The question then arises, “Where is all of that water today?”

In regard to the water below the atmosphere, the United States Geological Survey says that 70% of the earth’s surface is covered by water (http://ga.water.usgs.gov/edu/earthhowmuch.html).

Under the ground are aquifers, “water-bearing stratum of permeable rock, sand, or gravel” (Merriam-Webster’s 11th Collegiate Dictionary), into which our wells are tapped for water.

That explains where all the water is that was below the atmosphere, but where is all the water that was above it?

  1. Genesis 7:11-12 says, “In the six hundredth year of Noah’s life, in the second month, the seventeenth day of the month, the same day were all the __________________ of the great ________ broken up, and the ______________ of ____________ were opened. And the rain was upon the earth forty days and forty nights.”

Note:  When people think of the flood, they often only think of the rain that was coming down from the sky—but water was also coming up from underground in huge fountains of gushing water from the great deep.  God caused the earth to break open, and the water, under pressure, came rushing upward in fountains.

The description of how the rain started is very important.

The Bible does not say, “And the sky filled with clouds,

and they became darker and darker; and the lightning

cracked, and the thunder rumbled louder and louder!”  That

is not the way that the rain started.  The scene is described

as this: “The WINDOWS of heaven were OPENED.”

Before the flood, the sun would have shone through that clear body of water above the atmosphere, just like it does through a window.  So when God opened the windows of heaven, it was a beautiful day with the sun shining.  Do you know what this means?

This means that there was NO VISIBLE WARNING

that the flood was about to start.  The sun was shining,

(as it always did before the flood), through the “windows”

(that water layer above the atmosphere).

Remember, it had never rained upon the earth before the flood.  The earth was watered with a mist that came up from the ground, (which would have happened when the sun went down and the air temperature cooled).  So before the flood, every day was a beautiful sunny day.

  1. Genesis 2:5-6 says, “And every plant of the field before it was in the earth, and every herb of the field before it grew: for the LORD God had ______ caused it to ________ upon the earth, and there was not a man to till the ground. But there went up a ________ from the earth, and ______________ the whole face of the ground.”

Suddenly, the ground broke apart, and huge fountains

of water were gushing upward into the air, flooding the ground!

At the same moment, with the sun still shining, torrents of rain came falling down from the sky.

There was NO VISIBLE WARNING that day when the flood was going to start.

The Bible uses this as an illustration of the coming of the Lord Jesus Christ.

  1. Matthew 24:38-39 says, “For as in the days that were ____________ the __________ they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark,And knew ______ until the flood came, and ________ them all ________; SO SHALL ALSO THE COMING OF THE SON OF MAN BE.”

Why does it say that the people “KNEW NOT until the flood came,

and took them all away…?”  How could they not “know,” when Noah

had been preaching about it for so many years, and had been building the ark?

  1. 2 Peter 2:5 says, “And spared not the old world, but saved ________ the eighth person, a ________________ of righteousness, bringing in the __________ upon the world of the ______________.”

Note:  Noah was a preacher of righteousness, but the people were ungodly, and so they did not take his preaching seriously, nor pay attention to his warnings.

  1. Genesis 6:5 says, “And GOD saw that the ____________________ of man was great in the earth, and that every ______________________ of the thoughts of his heart was only ________ continually.”

Note:  The people were intent on living wicked lives because of their wicked hearts and imaginations.  Noah was preaching that people needed to repent and turn to God and live righteous and holy lives.  People did not listen to his message, because they loved their sin.

  1. Hebrews 4:2 says, “For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word ________________ did not ____________ them, not being mixed with __________ in them that __________ it.”

Note:  In sharp contrast to those people, Noah did fear the Word of the Lord, and exercised faith and rose up and built the ark.

  1. Hebrews 11:7 says, “By __________ Noah, being warned of God of things ______________ as yet, moved with fear, ________________ an ______ to the saving of his house; by the which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is by __________.”

Question:  How about you?  Have you really listened to the preaching of God’s Word?  The coming of the Lord Jesus Christ is going to happen suddenly and unexpectedly.  Are you ready?

  1. 1 Thessalonians 5:2 says, “For yourselves know perfectly that the ______ of the Lord so cometh as a __________ in the night.”
  2. Matthew 24:44 says, “Therefore be ye also __________: for in such an ________ as ye think ______ the Son of man ____________.”

Note:  The Lord’s sudden return has been preached for many years—but few are listening today, just like with Noah’s preaching about the coming flood.

The day that the flood came, there was NO VISIBLE WARNING before it started.

One day, suddenly, with no visible warning, God opened the windows of heaven, and it began to do something that it had never done before—it rained!  It rained hard, and it kept on raining for 40 days and 40 nights.

  1. Genesis 7:12 says, “And the ________ was upon the earth __________ days and __________ nights.”

Before the flood, that body of water above the atmosphere would have created

a “greenhouse effect” everywhere upon earth, causing the entire earth to have a tropical climate.

That is why fossils of tropical plants and animals have been found around the entire earth,

including even in the Arctic, and the Antarctic.

Review:

  1. Genesis 1:6 says, “And God said, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it ____________ the waters from the waters.”
  2. Because the word firmament contains the word firm in it, we may read this word and get the mistaken idea that it refers to something firm, like, “solid ground.” This firmament is NOT referring to when God created the ____________________ of land to separate the oceans and seas.
  3. The firmament is what we would refer to today as the ____________________ or sky around the earth.
  4. Merriam-Webster’s 11th Collegiate Dictionary lists the meaning of firmament as, “the vault or ________ of the sky.”
  5. Genesis 7:11-12 says, “In the six hundredth year of Noah’s life, in the second month, the seventeenth day of the month, the same day were all the __________________ of the great deep broken up, and the ______________ of heaven were opened. And the rain was upon the earth forty days and forty nights.”
  6. It is very interesting how God described the water coming down from the sky.He did NOT say, “And the clouds became larger and larger, and darker and darker; and then suddenly the clouds burst, and the rain came pouring down!”God described it this way, “The ______________ of heaven were opened.”  You can see through a window, but you cannot see through a big, dark, rain cloud.  Before the flood, the sun would have shone through that clear body of water above the atmosphere, just like it does through a window.
  7. This means that there was no ______________ warningthat the flood was about to start.
  8. This sudden, unexpected start to the flood, is used as an illustration of the coming of the Lord Jesus Christ.Matthew 24:38-39 says, “For as in the days that were before the __________ they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark,And knew ______ until the flood came, and took them all ________; SO SHALL ALSO THE COMING OF THE SON OF MAN BE.”
  9. Matthew 24:44 says, “Therefore be ye also __________: for in such an ________ as ye think not the Son of man ____________.”

Chapter 2

Genesis 1:9-10

  1. Genesis 1:9 says, “And God said, Let the waters __________ the heaven be gathered together unto one place, and let the dry ________ appear: and it was so.”

Now God begins to separate the water below the atmosphere horizontally.

Remember, when God first created the earth, it was all covered with water.

  1. Genesis 1:2 says, “And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the ________ of the ____________.”
  2. Genesis 1:10 says, “And ______ called the dry land __________; and the gathering together of the waters called he ________: and God saw that it was good.”

Note:  We find here that God names some of the things as He creates them.  He calls the dry land, Earth, and He calls the waters, Seas.  A little later in the creation process, God will let Adam, the first man, name many things.

  1. Genesis 2:20 says, “And ________ gave __________ to all ____________, and to the ________ of the air, and to every __________ of the field; but for Adam there was not found an help meet for him.”

Genesis 1:11

  1. Genesis 1:11 says, “And God ________, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in itself, upon the earth: and it was ____.”

Here are more verses that refute the theory of evolution

(evolution falsely teaches that all things were formed slowly

by mutations over billions and billions of years).  The Bible

says, “And God SAID… and it was SO.”  God spoke

the word, and these things were created.

  1. Psalms 33:6 says, “By the ________ of the ________ were the heavens made; and all the host of them by the ____________ of his __________.”
  2. Psalms 33:9 says, “For he ___________, and it was ________; he commanded, and it stood fast.”

Note:  God spoke—and it was done Theistic Evolution (the belief that God formed matter, and then let evolution form that matter into everything that we see today) is also not true—it is false.

  1. 1 Timothy 6:20-21 says, “O Timothy, keep that which is committed to thy trust, avoiding profane and vain babblings, and ______________________ of ____________________________ so called:  Which some professing have erred concerning the faith. Grace be with thee. Amen.”

Note:  Evolution and Theistic Evolution are both false science.

Question:  Have you realized that God’s Word is also powerful enough to transform your life—instantly?

  1. Hebrews 4:12 says, “For the ________ of God is quick, and ________________, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of ________ and ____________, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the __________.”

The same powerful Word that created the heaven and the earth, is still available and doing miracles in hearts today.

  1. 1 Peter 1:23 says, “Being __________________, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the ________ of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.”
  2. 1 Peter 1:25 says, “But the ________ of the Lord endureth for ________. And this is the word which by the ____________ is preached unto ______.”

Question:  Have you allowed God’s powerful Word to lead you to repentance and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ?  See the inside of the back cover of this booklet for help.

  2. Genesis 1:11 says, “And God ________, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in itself, upon the earth: and it was ____.”
  3. Psalms 33:6 says, “By the ________ of the Lord were the heavens ________; and all the host of them by the breath of his mouth.”
  4. Psalms 33:9 says, “For he __________, and it was ________; he commanded, and it stood fast.”

Chapter 3

Genesis 1:11 (continued)

When God was creating everything, what did He create first—the seed, or the plant?

  1. Genesis 1:11 says, “And God said, Let the earth bring forth __________, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit ________ yielding fruit after his kind, whose ________ is in itself, upon the earth: and it was so.”

Note:  God created the grass first, which would then yield seed.  God created the fruit tree first, which would then yield fruit, and the seed would be in it.

A similar question is asked about the animals, “Which came first, the chicken, or the egg?”  As we will see, God created the animals first, with the ability to reproduce (so the chicken came first, and then, later, the egg).

  1. Genesis 2:4-5 says, “These are the generations of the heavens and of the earth when they were created, in the day that the LORD God made the earth and the heavens,And every __________ of the field ____________ it was in the earth, and every ________ of the field ____________ it grew: for the LORD God had not caused it to rain upon the earth, and there was not a man to till the ground.”
  2. Genesis 2:8 says, “And the LORD God ______________ a ____________ eastward in Eden; and there he put the man whom he had formed.”

God created plants and trees, and then planted them in the ground.

Each was created with the ability to reproduce itself through

the seeds that it would bear.

Note:  God uses different means to cause those seeds to spread.  Sometimes God uses the wind to carry those seeds out a little distance, and bring forth a new plant or tree.  Such is the case with the seeds from a maple tree.  When the wind blows, the seeds look like little helicopters floating and twirling down to the ground.

Dandelion seeds float through the air attached to white, fluffy tops, which the wind carries far and wide.

God has designed all kinds of means for seeds to be scattered.  Those seeds then grow and bring forth another plant or tree, and the process then repeats itself.  By this means, the ground is continually replenished with vegetation.

Question:  As Christians, are we taking our seed-bearing responsibility seriously?

Just as God has entrusted the plants and the trees with seeds to be scattered, even so,

God has entrusted each of us to sow the seed of His Word throughout our daily lives.

  1. John 15:16 says, “Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen ______, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth __________, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.”
  2. John 15:8 says, “Herein is my Father __________________, that ye bear much __________; so shall ye be my disciples.”

Note:  Some Christians have tried sowing the seed of God’s Word, but they have gotten discouraged and have given up, because they  did not seem to see any results.  Do not give up, because God promises to bless His Word.

  1. Ecclesiastes 11:4 says, “He that observeth the ________ shall not ______; and he that regardeth the ____________ shall not ________.”
  2. Ecclesiastes 11:6 says, “In the ______________ sow thy ________, and in the ______________ withhold not thine hand: for thou knowest not whether shall prosper, either this or that, or whether they ________ shall be alike ________.”
  3. Isaiah 55:10-11 says, “For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give ________ to the __________, and bread to the eater:So shall my ________ be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall ____________________ that which I please, and it shall ______________ in the thing whereto I sent it.”

Sowing the seed of God’s Word requires faith.

God promised that He would bless His Word as it is sown,

and that it would not return unto Him void (empty).

  1. Hebrews 11:6 says, “But without __________ it is impossible to ____________ him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a ________________ of them that diligently seek him.”

Note:  Do not get discouraged when other people seem to reap the harvest from that which you have sown.  You will be rewarded for your labor in the harvest.

Would you like to see the great harvest of souls that Jesus’ disciples saw?  Sure!  Who would not?  Well, listen to what Jesus told His disciples.

  1. Jesus said in John 4:36-38, “And he that reapeth receiveth wages, and gathereth fruit unto life eternal: that ________ he that ____________ and he that ______________ may rejoice together. And herein is that saying true, One soweth, and another reapeth.I sent you to reap that whereon ye bestowed ____ labour: __________ men laboured, and ye are entered into __________ labours.”

The disciples would have never seen such a great harvest, were it not for the faithful laboring of many other people.

Note:  There is often so much pride in the matter of soul-winning.  Pastors and evangelists sometimes preach to the congregation and try to shame them by making statements like, “How many souls have you won this week?”

Pastors, and especially evangelists, are often preaching to crowds that other people have invited.  In other words, “other people labored” to get those people there.  Are they then going to take all the credit for any of those people that get saved?  That is arrogance.

Jesus said that both the sowers and the reapers should rejoice together when there is a harvest.  Those people in the congregation should be encouraged and blessed by the preacher for all their hard work laboring to get people there—not shamed.

  1. Hebrews 10:35-36 says, “Cast not away therefore your confidence, which hath __________ recompence of ____________.For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the ________ of God, ye might receive the promise.”
  2. Jesus said in Luke 8:11, “Now the parable is this: The ________ is the ________ of God.”
  3. Jesus continued in Luke 8:15, “But that on the good ground are they, which in an honest and good heart, having heard the word, keep it, and bring forth __________ with ________________.”
  4. James 5:7 says, “Be ______________ therefore, brethren, unto the coming of the Lord. Behold, the husbandman ______________ for the precious __________ of the earth, and hath long patience for it, until he receive the early and latter rain.”

Review:

  1. What did God create first, the seeds, or the plants/trees? ________________________
  2. Who planted the Garden of Eden? a. God b. Adam
  3. God has designed that plants, herbs, and trees multiply by means of the seeds spreading. When the wind blows, the seeds from maple trees look like little helicopters floating and twirling down to the ground. When the wind blows, dandelion seeds float through the air attached to white, fluffy tops, which the wind carries far and wide.  Just as God has entrusted the plants and the trees with seeds to be scattered, even so, God has entrusted each of us to sow the seed of His ________ throughout our daily lives.
  4. Isaiah 55:10-11 says, “For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater:So shall my ________ be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall ______________ in the thing whereto I sent it.”
  5. Sowing the seed of God’s Word requires faith.God promised that He would bless His Word as it is sown, and that it would not return unto Him ________ (empty).

Chapter 4

Genesis 1:12

  1. Genesis 1:12 says, “And the earth brought forth grass, and herb yielding seed after his ________, and the tree yielding fruit, whose seed was in itself, after his ________: and God saw that it was good.”

Whether it is with plants, trees, or animals, God has created everything within its “KINDS.”

These “kinds” are BOUNDARIES which God has created within these sets, which may not be crossed.

Note:  You may cross-pollinate roses, and come up with new varieties of colors, but you cannot cross-pollinate a rose with sweet corn.  You will not end up with a rosebush that bears cobs of corn, or with a cornstalk that bears rose flowers.  This is but another proof of a divine Creator—not the accident-mutation theory of evolution.

What if evolution were true, and a pumpkin seed got planted close to the road where there was also an oak tree growing?  If cross-pollination were possible between the two kinds, then that oak tree could bear pumpkins that season.  Can you imagine driving along a road with oak trees overhanging it, whose branches had huge pumpkins hanging on them?  If one of them dropped (like the acorns do), it would smash your windshield, or put a huge dent in your hood, trunk, or roof.

Those who scoff at the idea of a Creator, are going to wish, throughout eternity,

that they had opened their eyes to the obvious truth set before them.

Everything has marvelous design, because it has a Marvelous Designer—GOD.

  1. Psalms 14:1 says, “The ________ hath said in his heart, There is no ______. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good.”
  2. 2 Peter 3:5 says, “For this they willingly are ________________ of, that by the ________ of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water.”
  3. Psalms 19:1-3 says, “The ______________ declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork.Day unto day uttereth speech, and night unto night sheweth knowledge. There is no speech nor ________________, where their voice is not __________.”

Genesis 1:13

  1. Genesis 1:13 says, “And the evening and the morning were the __________ day.”

This reminds us, once again, that each day of creation was a literal 24 hour period of time.

Note:  The evening is the gradual darkening of the day into night, and the morning is the gradual lighting of the night into day.  Both are gradual processes—not instant, because of the rotation of the earth.  The earth makes one complete rotation every 24 hours.

God knew that there would come along scoffers, claiming that the earth was much older than it is, and that it would cause some professing believers to compromise.  That is why God put this precise wording into the text to let us know that the days of the creation week were literal 24 hour days.

  1. 1 Timothy 6:20-21 says, “O Timothy, keep that which is committed to thy trust, avoiding profane and vain babblings, and ______________________ of science ______________ so called:Which some professing have erred concerning the __________. Grace be with thee. Amen.”

Genesis 1:14

  1. Genesis 1:14 says, “And God said, Let there be ____________ in the firmament of the ____________ to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years.”

Note:  The Bible makes reference to three heavens (see the Bible Course on Heaven, BC-E-105, for more Scriptures).  Here is a quick review:

The FIRST HEAVEN would be what we call the “ATMOSPHERE”—the place where the birds fly.

  1. Jeremiah 4:25 says, “I beheld, and, lo, there was no man, and all the __________ of the ______________ were fled.”

The SECOND HEAVEN would be what we call “SPACE” or “OUTER SPACE”

—the place where the sun, moon, and stars are.

Note:  This is what we looked at in #1 above, Genesis 1:14.

The THIRD HEAVEN would be what we call “HEAVEN”

—the place where God dwells in paradise, and His people with Him.

  1. 2 Corinthians 12:2-4 says, “I knew a man in Christ above fourteen years ago, (whether in the body, I cannot tell; or whether out of  the body, I cannot tell: God knoweth;) such an one caught up to the ______________________.   And I knew such a man, (whether in the body, or out of the body, I cannot tell: God knoweth;)   How that he was caught up into ________________, and heard unspeakable words, which it is not lawful for a man to utter.”

Note:  The third heaven or paradise is the place where saved people immediately go when they die.

  1. Luke 23:42-43 says, “And he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom. And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, __________ shalt thou be with me in ________________.”

At death, saved people are immediately in heaven or paradise

—but when unsaved people die, they are immediately in hell.

  1. Luke 16:22-23 says, “And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham’s bosom: the ________ man also ________, and was buried; And in ________ he lift up his eyes, being in ________________, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.”

Note:  If you died right now, where would you go?

Chapter 5

Genesis 1:15

  1. Genesis 1:15 says, “And let them be for ____________ in the firmament of the heaven to give __________ upon the earth: and it was so.”

One of the major reasons for the sun, moon, and stars was for light.

That is also a major reason why God leaves us here after we get saved

—for the purpose of being a “light.”

  1. Matthew 5:16 says, “Let your __________ so __________ before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your ____________ which is in heaven.”
  2. Philippians 2:15 says, “That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye __________ as ____________ in the world.”

Genesis 1:16

  1. Genesis 1:16 says, “And God made ______ great lights; the greater light to rule the ______, and the lesser light to rule the __________: he made the __________ also.”

Note:  The sun, and the moon, and the stars do not all have the same brightness or glory.

  1. 1 Corinthians 15:40 says, “There are also celestial bodies, and bodies terrestrial: but the __________ of the celestial is ______, and the __________ of the terrestrial is ______________.”

Note:  The word celestial means, “relating to heaven; belonging to the upper regions, or visible heaven” (Noah Webster’s 1828 Dictionary).

The word terrestrial means, “pertaining to the earth; existing upon the earth” (Noah Webster’s 1828 Dictionary).

When we consider the glory of the celestial (that which is in the sky),

compared to the glory of the terrestrial (that which is upon the earth),

everything here seems pretty dim, in comparison.

Question:  Are we, as Christians, living for the dim things of this earth, or for the eternal glory of heaven?  The things here are nothing, compared with the things that God has prepared for us.

  1. 1 Corinthians 2:9 says, “But as it is written, Eye hath not ________, nor ear __________, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath ________________ for them that ________ him.”
  2. Jesus said in John 14:1-3, “Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.In my Father’s house are many ________________: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to ______________ a place for ______.And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will ________ again, and receive ______ unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.”
  3. Matthew 6:19-21 says, “Lay ______ up for yourselves ________________ upon __________, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:But ______ up for yourselves ________________ in ____________, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:For where your ______________ is, there will your __________ be also.”
  4. Colossians 3:1-2 says, “If ye then be risen with Christ, ________ those things which are __________, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God.Set your __________________ on things __________, not on things on the earth.”

When considering the glory and majesty of God, and His vast creation,

it reminds us just how little we really are.

  1. Psalms 8:3-5 says, “When I consider thy ______________, the work of thy fingers, the moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained; What is ______, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him?For thou hast made him a little __________ than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honour.”
  2. Isaiah 40:15 says, “Behold, the ______________ are as a ________ of a ____________, and are counted as the small dust of the balance: behold, he taketh up the isles as a very little thing.”

Note:  Have you ever been up in an airplane, and looked down at how tiny the houses are?  Have you watched the cars that are traveling down the roads, how tiny they look, and how slow they appear to be going?  If so, you can appreciate, in a small way, what the earth and its inhabitants look like from God’s perspective in heaven.  It is described in the next verse.

  1. Isaiah 40:22 says, “It is he that sitteth upon the ____________ of the earth, and the ______________________ thereof are as ________________________; that stretcheth out the heavens as a curtain, and spreadeth them out as a tent to dwell in.”

Note:  We are that tiny and seemingly insignificant, but in God’s eyes we are special, and greatly loved by Him.

  1. Psalms 147:3-5 says, “He ______________ the ____________ in __________, and bindeth up their wounds. He telleth the ____________ of the stars; he calleth them all by their __________.Great is our Lord, and of great power: his understanding is infinite.”

Note:  God tells us here that He heals the broken in heart.  Then it tells us that He knows the number of how many stars there are.  Not only that, but it tells us that God has each star named.  What does that have to do with broken hearts?

The whole point is that if God has all the stars NUMBERED (man does not even have a clue how many there really are);

and beyond that, if God has all of those stars NAMED (imagine being able to think of billions and billions of names,

and then to remember what name you gave to each star)—then surely He knows the much smaller number

of how many people there are upon the earth, and what their cares and concerns are.

Note:  It is hard for us to fathom the glory of the celestial bodies .

  1. 1 Corinthians 15:41 says, “There is one glory of the ______, and another glory of the ________, and another glory of the __________: for one star __________________ from another star in glory.”

Note:  As the stars differ from each other in glory, even so do we, as Christians, differ from one another.

The key to true “glory” in the Christian life is not seeking the highest positions, but to humbly serve.

  1. Mark 10:35-37 says, “And James and John, the sons of Zebedee, come unto him, saying, Master, we would that thou shouldest do for us whatsoever we shall desire. And he said unto them, What would ye that I should do for you? They said unto him, Grant unto us that we may sit, one on thy __________ hand, and the other on thy ________ hand, in thy __________.”
  2. Mark 10:42-44 says, “But Jesus called them to him, and saith unto them, Ye know that they which are accounted to rule over the Gentiles exercise lordship over them; and their great ones exercise authority upon them. But so shall it not be among you: but whosoever will be __________ among you, shall be your minister:And whosoever of you will be the ________________, shall be ______________ of all.”
  3. 1 Peter 5:5-6 says, “Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with ________________: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.____________ yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may __________ you in due time.”
  4. Proverbs 25:27 says, “It is not good to eat much honey: so for men to ____________ their ______ glory is ______ glory.”

Each star differs from another in glory, but they ALL have an important course that they are following.

Note:  For many years, ships and planes charted their courses at night, based upon the accuracy of the stars in their courses.

You may think that your “course” in life is not very important,

and that you are not having any impact upon anyone’s life—but you are.

  1. Romans 14:7 says, “For ________ of us liveth to ______________, and no man dieth to ______________.”
  2. 1 Corinthians 12:22-23 says, “Nay, much more those members of the body, which seem to be more ____________, are __________________:And those members of the body, which we think to be ________ honourable, upon these we bestow more ________________ honour; and our uncomely parts have more abundant comeliness.”

There are people (and you do not even realize how many people) that are “charting” the course for

their lives based partly upon what they see in your life, and how you respond to things that happen.

  1. Proverbs 28:4 says, “They that ______________ the ______ praise the ____________: but such as ________ the ______ contend with them.”

Note:  When we disobey the law, we are teaching people, by our example, that it is okay to chart their course to live a wicked life.

When we keep the law, we, by our example, are teaching others to live a righteous life.

  1. 1 Thessalonians 5:21-22 says, “Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.______________ from all ____________________ of ________.”

Review:

  1. One of the major reasons for the sun, moon, and stars was for light. That is also a major reason why God leaves us here after we get saved—for the purpose of being a “__________.”
  2. Matthew 5:16 says, “Let your __________ so __________ before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your ____________ which is in heaven.”
  3. The sun, and the moon, and the stars do not all have the same brightness or __________.
  4. When we consider the glory of the celestial (that which is in the sky), compared to the glory of the terrestrial (that which is upon the earth), everything here seems pretty ______, in comparison.
  5. 1 Corinthians 2:9 says, “But as it is written, Eye hath not ________, nor ear __________, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath ________________ for them that love him.”
  6. Psalms 147:3-5 says, “He healeth the ____________ in __________, and bindeth up their wounds. He telleth the ____________ of the stars; he calleth them all by their __________.Great is our Lord, and of great power: his understanding is infinite.”

Chapter 6

Genesis 1:17-18

  1. Genesis 1:17-18 says, “And God set them in the firmament of the heaven to give __________ upon the earth,And to ________ over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness: and God saw that it was good.”

Do you see the emphasis here?  God does not want “DARKNESS” to rule.

God wants “LIGHT” to rule.

Note:  God ordained the sun to rule over the day, and the moon to rule over the night.

Even so, God desires that light would rule in our lives, and that we would be godly influences in this evil and dark world.

  1. Matthew 5:16 says, “Let your __________ so __________ before men, that they may see your good works, and ______________ your ____________ which is in heaven.”
  2. John 3:18-19 says, “He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved ________________ rather than __________, because their deeds were ________.”

The moon does not have any capability, of itself, to “PRODUCE” light—what it does is “REFLECT” the light of the sun.

Even so, we also have no light-producing capability in this old sinful flesh, but we can, by God’s grace, reflect His glory.

  1. Romans 7:18 says, “For I know that in me (that is, in my __________,) dwelleth ____ good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not.”
  2. Psalms 39:4-5 says, “LORD, make me to know mine end, and the measure of my days, what it is; that I may know how __________ I am.Behold, thou hast made my days as an handbreadth; and mine age is as nothing before thee: verily every man at his ________ state is altogether ____________. Selah.”

How can the moon reflect light to us, when it is so dark at night?

It is able to do that because it is “separated” high above the darkness upon earth.

From that position, it is in direct line with the light of the sun, and can reflect that light to us.

What a picture that is for us.  We need to live a life “separate” from the sin and darkness all around us;

so that, instead of being engulfed by darkness, we might reflect God’s glory into this earth.

  1. Philippians 2:14-15 says, “Do all things without murmurings and disputings:That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye __________ as ____________ in the world.”
  2. 2 Corinthians 6:14 says, “Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what ____________________ hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath __________ with ________________?”
  3. 2 Corinthians 6:15 says, “And what ______________ hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an ______________?”

Note:  The word concord means, “a state of agreement, harmony” (Merriam-Webster’s 11th Collegiate Dictionary).

The word infidel means, “one who is not a Christian, or who opposes Christianity” (Merriam-Webster’s 11th Collegiate Dictionary).

If a Christian is walking with God, then he/she is not going to have true fellowship with an unsaved person.

  1. 2 Corinthians 6:16-18 says, “And what agreement hath the ____________ of God with idols? for ____ are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.Wherefore come ______ from among them, and be ye ________________, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you,   And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.”

Do you see how we need to be like the moon—up above the darkness, so that we can reflect

God’s light and glory down into it?  If you are dabbling in the same darkness

and sin as the world, then you are not going to be reflecting

the light and glory of God to those around you.

  1. 1 Peter 1:14-16 says, “As obedient children, not ____________________ yourselves according to the ____________ lusts in your ignorance:But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye ________ in all manner of conversation;Because it is written, Be ye ________; for I am holy.”

Question:  When people look at us, does the word holy come to their minds?  Can anyone see a difference in the way that we fashion ourselves since we have gotten saved?  See Bible Course BC-E-106, for some teaching on how a true inward change for Christ, will also show itself in an outward change.

  1. 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 says, “What? know ye not that your ________ is the ____________ of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your ________, and in your ____________, which are God’s.”

Note:  Many people say that God does not care about the outside—only the inside.  As you can see from the above verses, God cares about both.

When we get saved, we are supposed to be “good soldiers” of the Lord Jesus Christ.

  1. 2 Timothy 2:3-4 says, “Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good ______________ of Jesus Christ. No man that warreth ____________________ himself with the ______________ of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier.”

How do you know a soldier when you see one?  Usually, there are two things that give it away:

the “clothes” and the “hair.”  Can anyone tell that you are a good Christian soldier by your “uniform?”

  1. 1 Corinthians 11:14-15 says, “Doth not even nature itself teach you, that, if a ______ have ________ hair, it is a __________ unto him?But if a __________ have ________ hair, it is a __________ to her: for her hair is given her for a covering.”
  2. 1 Timothy 2:9 says, “In like manner also, that __________ adorn themselves in ____________ apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array.”

Review:

  1. Genesis 1:16-18 says, “And God made two great lights; the greater light to ________ the day, and the lesser light to ________ the night: he made the stars also. And God set them in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth,And to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness: and God saw that it was good.”
  2. Do you see the emphasis here?God does not want “________________” to RULE.God wants “__________” to RULE.
  3. The moon does not have any capability, of itself, to “PRODUCE” light—what it does is “______________” the light of the sun.Even so, we also have no light-producing capability in this old sinful flesh, but we can, by God’s grace, ______________ His glory.
  4. How can the moon reflect light to us, when it is so dark at night? It is able to do that because it is “__________________” high above the ________________ upon earth. From that position, it is in direct line with the light of the sun, and can ______________ that light to us.  What a picture that is for us.  We need to live lives “separate” from the sin and darkness all around us; so that, instead of being engulfed by darkness, we might reflect God’s glory into this earth.
  5. 1 Peter 1:14-16 says, “As ________________ children, not ____________________ yourselves according to the former __________ in your ignorance:But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye ________ in all manner of conversation;Because it is written, Be ye ________; for I am holy.”

Chapter 7

Genesis 1:17-18 (continued)

#1—God made the sun, moon, and stars to give light upon the earth.

#2—God made the SUN, and coupled with the rotation speed of the earth, this provides us the length of time for our DAYS.

  1. Genesis 1:14 says, “And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for ________, and __________.”

God had already given the earth a rotation speed of 24 hours to make a complete cycle

(we talked about this matter in the section on Genesis 1:4-5).

  1. Luke 4:40 says, “Now when the ______ was ______________, all they that had any sick with divers diseases brought them unto him; and he laid his hands on every one of them, and healed them.”

The sun sets gradually—not suddenly, because the earth is rotating in front of the light of the sun.

Note:  Take a globe of the world and a flashlight, and go to a darkened room.  Hold the flashlight about 24 inches from the globe, and point it at it.  Stand over the top of the globe, and rotate it slowly, watching the light gradually lighten some countries, and on the opposite side, watching the countries gradually darken.

The earth is said to measure 24,000+ miles around at the equator.  To factor the speed at which the earth is rotating, we would divide 24,000 (the miles around the earth) by 24 (the amount of hours in a day), and that equals 1,000.  This means that the earth, at the equator, is spinning about 1,000 miles per hour.  As you go toward the North and South Poles, the speed decreases, because the circumference of the earth grows smaller and smaller as you get closer to the Poles.

The earth rotating in front of the sun and its light, gives us a measurement for our days—24 hours.

#1—God made the sun, moon, and stars to give light upon the earth.

#2—God made the SUN, and coupled with the rotation speed of the earth, this provides us the length of time for our DAYS.

#3—God made the MOON to provide us with a measurement for our MONTHS and our SEASONS.

  1. 1 Samuel 20:5 says, “And David said unto Jonathan, Behold, to morrow is the ______ moon, and I should not fail to sit with the king at meat: but let me go, that I may hide myself in the field unto the third day at even.”
  2. Psalms 104:19 says, “He appointed the ________ for ______________: the sun knoweth his going down.”

Note:  The new moon is not visible to our eyes; but as the nights progress in the month, there will come a sliver of light on the right side of the moon.  Each night, that portion of light on the right side of the moon will grow larger—until the entire moon is lit at night, which is called a full moon.

Then, as the nights progress, the light will keep moving toward the left side of the moon, and the right side will become more and more dark, until only a sliver of light is left on the left side of the moon.  Then, the process starts over again with a new moon.

This cycle of the moon takes about 30 days to complete, so it gives us 12 time periods in a year (12 months).

#1—God made the sun, moon, and stars to give light upon the earth.

#2—God made the SUN, and coupled with the rotation speed of the earth, this provides us the length of time for our DAYS.

#3—God made the MOON to provide us with a measurement for our

         MONTHS and our SEASONS.

#4—God also made the STARS to provide us with a measurement for our SEASONS.

Note:  The stars and their constellations show the different seasons of the year.  The word constellation means, “pattern, arrangement” (Merriam-Webster’s 11th Collegiate Dictionary).

As we look up into the sky at night, certain configurations of stars have been given names.  Different constellations of stars appear in the four seasons of the year (spring, summer, fall, and winter).  So the season of the year can be told by the star constellation that is in view.  Pegasus and Andromeda can be seen in the Fall.  Orion can be seen in the Winter.  Leo and Virgo can be seen in the Spring.  Sagittarius and Hercules can be seen in the Summer (Ask An Astronomer, http://curious.astro.cornell.edu).  The Bible mentions some of the constellations by name.

  1. In Job 9:8-9, Job was speaking of God and mentioned some of the constellations that He had made, “Which alone spreadeth out the heavens, and treadeth upon the waves of the sea.Which maketh ________________, __________, and ________________, and the chambers of the south.”
  2. God mentions some of these constellations, and more, when He answers Job in Job 38:31-33, “Canst thou bind the sweet influences of ________________, or loose the bands of __________?Canst thou bring forth __________________ in his ____________? or canst thou guide ________________ with his sons?Knowest thou the ordinances of heaven? canst thou set the dominion thereof in the earth?”

Notice, there, how it mentions a certain constellation “in his SEASON.”

God created these alignments of stars to mark the seasons.

  1. Amos 5:8 says, “Seek him that ____________ the seven stars and __________, and turneth the shadow of death into the morning, and maketh the day dark with night: that calleth for the waters of the sea, and poureth them out upon the face of the earth: The ________ is his name.”

God wants you prepared for the coming seasons, just like He wants you prepared for eternity.

Do you know what is coming for you?

Note:  Are you seeking the Lord?  He is the One who made all these constellations of stars, so that man might tell what season is coming.

Have you ever noticed how common it is for people to talk about the weather and about the seasons—but not to talk about GOD and ETERNITY?

  1. Matthew 16:1 says, “The Pharisees also with the Sadducees came, and ________________ desired him that he would shew them a sign from heaven.”

Note:  These people claimed to be religious people, but they were not saved.

  1. Matthew 16:2-3 says, “He answered and said unto them, When it is evening, ye say, It will be ________ weather: for the sky is red.And in the morning, It will be ________ weather to day: for the sky is red and lowring. O ye ____________________, ye can discern the ________ of the sky; but can ye not discern the __________ of the times?”

Those people paid attention to the weather (to the sky) to prepare for the next DAY

—but they ignored the multitude of signs that Jesus had already shown to them,

that He was the Messiah, and that they needed to repent and to prepare for ETERNITY.

  1. Matthew 16:4 says, “A __________ and ____________________ generation seeketh after a ________; and there shall no sign be given unto it, but the sign of the prophet __________. And he left them, and departed.”

Note:  The sign of the prophet Jonas (Jonah), was that he was three days and three nights in the whale’s belly, and then was delivered.

  1. Matthew 12:40 says, “For as __________ was three days and three nights in the ____________ belly; so shall the ______ of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the __________.”

Note: This was prophesying of Jesus’ death on the cross; His burial, and then His resurrection three days later.

  1. Matthew 12:41 says, “The men of Nineveh shall rise in judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it: because they ________________ at the __________________ of Jonas; and, behold, a greater than Jonas is here.”

Note:  Jonah did not perform any miracles or wonders before the people—he simply preached, and they repented.

Jesus told these people that they were paying attention to the signs that God gives for daily weather, but they were ignoring the warnings that He was giving about eternity.

Do you often talk to people about the weather?  How often do you talk to people about eternity?

God created the stars so accurate in their courses, that they can also be used by navigators

on ships and in airplanes to chart their courses, and to tell exactly where they are at night.

This is how ships and planes navigated at night, when there were no GPS satellites and services.

Note:  Would that be possible if evolution were true?  Many books on evolution taught that matter was once a highly compressed ball, no bigger than a period on a page—and then it exploded.  To illustrate their theory, notice the following diagram.

Imagine that this circle is the evolutionists’ highly compressed ball (although this circle is much bigger than a period on a page).  The lines and arrows illustrate the direction that the pieces are going to take, when the dot explodes.  With two of your fingers, follow two lines next to each other, out and beyond the page (making sure that each finger is following the angle of direction that each line is pointing).  Go out about two feet from the page, and then hold your fingers there.  See how far apart they are now?  Look back just two feet to the page, where your fingers were touching at the dot.  You are only two feet away from the page, and your fingers are now separated by many inches.

If the theory of evolution were true, then there would be no constellations of stars in the sky for very long,

because the stars would be so rapidly moving away from each other, that they would no longer line up correctly.

Illustration:  Deer hunters know a little about how precise a position must be, to have certain shapes appear.  As the light begins to dawn in the woods, deer hunters sometimes think that they see a deer, because from the angle where they are sitting, branches on a tree line up in such a way that it looks like a deer.  But when the hunter finally stands up, or slowly begins to walk in that direction, the alignment of the branches change, and the hunter quickly sees that it is not a deer at all, but an alignment that make it appear that way—only from that specific position.

If the theory of evolution and its explanation of matter were true, the same thing would happen with the alignment of the stars.  There would be no constellations, because the alignment of the stars would not stay the same long enough to look like anything in particular.  They would be moving too fast away from each other.  It would also be impossible to make accurate charts of the stars to guide airplanes and ships, because the course of the stars would be quickly changing from night-to-night.

There is another big problem for the evolutionists.  If all of the matter

in the entire universe were condensed into a ball the size of a period—would it fit?

Note:  The size of the planet earth is said to be 260 billion cubic miles in volume (http://www.caroun.com/Geography/General/Earth.html).  Common sense should tell a person that all of that could never fit into a space the size of a period—no matter how much you compact it!

The size of the sun is so large, that NASA says it would take one million planet earths to fill up the interior of the sun (http://imagine.gsfc.nasa.gov/docs/ask_astro/answers/970518a.html).  Remember, the evolutionist’s dot is supposed to have held the mass of the sun, too.

What about the stars?  It is said that the star Eta Carinae, is about 800 times bigger than our sun (http://starchild.gsfc.nasa.gov/docs/StarChild/questions/question21.html).  And that is only one star—out of the billions and billions of stars in space.

Faith—Or Foolishness?

Evolutionists reject the account of God creating the heaven and the earth,

because they say that it takes “faith” to believe that.  They say that creation

cannot be explained in “rational” terms.  What is rational about believing

that all of matter came from a highly compressed dot the size of

a period on this page?  That would mean that:

P  The earth, which is 260 billion cubic miles in volume,

P  The sun, which is big enough to hold one million earths,

P  The star Eta Carinae—800 times larger than the sun,

P  And, then, also consider the following:

In 2003-04, the Hubble Telescope orbiting the earth was used to do an Ultra Deep Field scan of the sky.  To understand how small of an area they were scanning, they say it would be like viewing a square less than 1 mm in size, held 1 meter away from your eye.

Do the test for yourself.  The smallest mark on most rulers is 1/16 of an inch—but that is too big, because that is a little over 1 1/2 mm.  Draw a square on a piece of paper that is less that 1/16 of an inch, and tape it to the end of a yardstick.  Go to the window where you can see the sky, and hold the yardstick about 3-4 inches away from your eye, with the little paper taped to the opposite end (this puts the paper about 1 meter away from your eye).  See the tiny little square on the piece of paper?  Imagine it was cut out.  The amount of sky you could view through that tiny little square, is the size of the sky that the Hubble Telescope was scanning.

What do you suppose that they saw in that tiny little area of the sky?

One star?  Three stars?  No, they saw 10,000 objects in that tiny little square.

Surprisingly, most of those objects were not single stars—they were whole galaxies!

The earth is in the Milky Way Galaxy.  Look straight up in the sky.  See that white, milky color?  Those are stars—stars that are so far away, and so abundant, that your eye just sees it as a milky color.  In that area are billions and billions of stars—more than you could ever distinguish and count.

So just think—in that tiny square, less than 1 mm, the Hubble Telescope saw thousands and thousands of whole galaxies—which would number trillions and trillions of stars—more than man could ever count.

Now stop and think.  Evolution teaches that all of the matter in the whole universe came from a highly compressed dot, no bigger than a period on this page.  Those trillions and trillions of stars, many of which are hundreds of times larger than the earth—all of them came from one tiny little dot the size of a period on this page?  And they are saying that is rational, scientific thinking?

Why would any intelligent person ever believe such nonsense?

Because the only other alternative is to accept the fact that there is an intelligent Designer,

GOD, who created the heaven and the earth, with all of the planets, and stars, and galaxies.

To acknowledge God as the Creator, is to also acknowledge then that He has all rights of

ownership over the universe, and that all people must answer to Him one day.

Rather than acknowledge that, many people have chosen to believe

the ridiculous lie of the Big Bang Theory and Evolution.

  1. Psalms 24:1 says, “The __________ is the ____________, and the fulness thereof; the world, and ________ that __________ therein.”

Note:  People will believe anything other than creation, no matter how ridiculous it is (like evolution), to get away from the thought of having to answer to God one day.

This shows the truth, that EVOLUTION is ATHEISM 101.

  1. Psalms 14:1 says, “The ________ hath said in his heart, There is ____ God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good.”
  2. Psalm 19:1 says, “The ______________ declare the __________ of ______; and the firmament sheweth his handywork.”

Note:  The mighty size, beauty, and glory of space, leaves a person without excuse for not believing in God.

  1. Psalm 19:2-3 says, “Day unto day uttereth speech, and night unto night sheweth __________________.There is no ____________ nor ________________, where their voice is not heard.”

Review:

  1. The sun sets __________________—not suddenly, because the earth is rotating in front of the light of the sun.
  2. The earth, rotating in front of the sun and its light, gives us a length of time for our days, which is ____ hours.
  3. The cycle of the moon takes about 30 days to complete, so it gives us 12 time periods in a year (12 ____________).
  4. God also made the stars to provide us with a measurement for our ______________.
  5. God created the stars so ________________ in their courses, that they can also be used by navigators on ships and in airplanes to chart their courses, and to tell exactly where they are at night. This is how ships and planes navigated at night, when there were no GPS satellites and services.
  6. If the theory of evolution were true, then there would be no constellations of stars in the sky for very long, because the stars would be so rapidly moving ________ from each other, that they would no longer ________ up correctly.
  7. There is another big problem for the evolutionists. If all of the matter in the entire universe were condensed into a ball the size of a period—would it ______?
  8. Evolutionists reject the account of God creating the heaven and the earth, because they say that it takes __________ to believe that.
  9. People will believe anything other than creation, no matter how ridiculous it is (like evolution, and the Big Bang Theory), to get away from the thought of having to answer to ______ one day. This shows the truth, that Evolution IS Atheism.

Chapter 8

Genesis 1:17-18 (continued)

#1—God made the sun, moon, and stars to give light upon the earth.

#2—God made the SUN, and coupled with the rotation speed of the earth, this provides us the length of time for our DAYS.

#3—God made the MOON to provide us with a measurement for our

         MONTHS and our SEASONS.

#4—God also made the STARS to provide us with a measurement for our

          SEASONS.

#5—God also made the SUN (along with the earth’s rotation around it), to provide us with a measurement for our YEARS.

Note:  It takes the earth one year to rotate an orbit or revolution around the sun (365¼ days).  It has been calculated that the earth is flying through space at about 67,062 miles-per-hour in its huge, yearly orbit around the sun.

Do you really believe in evolution?  Do you really believe that everything came about by chance,

and that no one is in control?  Then you better fear for your life, because you are going forward through space

at over 67,000 miles-per-hour (or backwards, or sideways, or right or left, as the earth rotates);

and you are also spinning at up to 1,000 miles-per-hour (if you are at the equator).

Just the speeds at which we are traveling, shows the glory and power of Almighty God.

  1. Colossians 1:16-17 says, “For by him were all things ______________, that are in ____________, and that are in __________, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:And he is before all things, and by him all things ______________.”

Note:  The word consist means, “to stand together; to be supported and maintained” (Noah Webster’s 1828 Dictionary)

Have you ever been driving down the road, and saw someone lose part of the load that he was carrying in his truck?  He probably tried to hold his load together by straps and other means, but they were not enough to hold the load at the speeds he was travelling—speeds of just 55-70 miles per hour.

What about this earth, travelling at over 67,000 miles per hour through space, and spinning at 1,000 miles per hour?  It would all break apart at such tremendous speeds, if it were not for God holding it all together.

  1. Psalm 147:5 says, “__________ is our Lord, and of great __________: his understanding is ________________.”

Note:  One day, when God creates a new heaven and a new earth, there will be no sun, moon, and stars.

  1. Revelation 21:1 says, “And I saw a new ____________ and a new __________: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea.”
  2. Revelation 21:23 says, “And the city had ____ need of the ______, neither of the ________, to shine in it: for the __________ of ______ did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof.”

This makes sense that there will be NO SUN or MOON for the new heaven and earth,

because TIME WILL END, as we know it, when the 1,000 year Millennium is finished.

  1. Revelation 10:5-6 says, “And the angel which I saw stand upon the sea and upon the earth lifted up his hand to heaven,And sware by him that liveth for ever and ever, who created heaven, and the things that therein are, and the earth, and the things that therein are, and the sea, and the things which are therein, that there should be ____________   ____________.”

Note:  Remember that God did not need to create the sun, moon, and stars for light, because He is light.

  1. John 8:12 says, “Then spake __________ again unto them, saying, I am the __________ of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.”

Note:  The Bible reveals that one of the major purposes of those lights was for the measurement of time.

  1. Genesis 1:14 says, “And God said, Let there be ____________ in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for ________, and __________.”

DAYS and YEARS are how we keep track of TIME.  When time is over, there will be no days, or years.

  1. Revelation 22:5 says, “And there shall be ______________ there; and they need no candle, neither light of the sun; for the Lord God giveth them __________: and they shall reign for ever and ever.”

For the saved, there will NEVER be a NIGHT again—it will always be light.

But for the lost, there will NEVER be a DAY again—it will always be dark.

  1. Psalms 49:19 says, “He shall go to the generation of his fathers; they shall __________ see __________.”
  2. Jude 1:12-13 says, “These are spots in your feasts of charity, when they feast with you, feeding themselves without fear: clouds they are without water, carried about of winds; trees whose fruit withereth, without fruit, twice dead, plucked up by the roots;Raging waves of the sea, foaming out their own shame; wandering stars, to whom is reserved the __________________ of ________________ for ________.”
  3. 2 Peter 2:17 says, “These are wells without water, clouds that are carried with a tempest; to whom the mist of ________________ is reserved for ________.”

Genesis 1:19

  1. Genesis 1:19 says, “And the ______________ and the ______________ were the fourth day.”

Note:  Another day in the Creation Week, Day 4, comes to a close.  Once again, we see the proof that each day of the Creation Week was a literal 24 hour day.  The word evening describes the gradual darkening of the day into night.  The word morning describes the gradual lighting of the night into day.  The reason that both are gradual, is because of the rotation of the earth before the source of light.  So we see that from the very first day of creation, God set the earth spinning or rotating.

As Day 4 comes to a close, we ponder all that God accomplished in that day.  He created the sun, moon, and trillions and trillions of stars, and put them all in their precise courses.

This day will also come to a close.  Where do you stand before the true and holy God who created all things?  On what course are you presently going: the course to heaven, through the precious and pure blood of the Lord Jesus Christ—or the course ending in eternal doom and destruction in the lake of fire for ever and ever?  You have no guarantee of another day to make this decision.

  1. I have repented of my sins, and have asked the Lord Jesus Christ to save me.

Final Test

When you are finished with this test, please return the entire booklet back to us for grading.  When it is graded, this booklet will be returned to you, along with the next booklet.  May God richly guide you and give you wisdom from your study of this subject.

  3. The firmament is the “arch of the sky,” so the firmamentis what we would refer to today as the ____________________ around the earth.
  4. Genesis 7:11-12 says, “In the six hundredth year of Noah’s life, in the second month, the seventeenth day of the month, the same day were all the __________________ of the great deep broken up, and the ______________ of heaven were opened. And the rain was upon the earth forty days and forty nights.”
  6. This means that there was no ______________ warningthat the flood was about to start.
  8. Matthew 24:44 says, “Therefore be ye also __________: for in such an ________ as ye think not the Son of man ____________.”
  9. Genesis 1:9 says, “And God said, Let the waters __________ the heaven be gathered together unto one place, and let the dry ________ appear: and it was so.”
  10. Genesis 1:11 says, “And God ________, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in itself, upon the earth: and it was ____.”
  11. Psalms 33:6 says, “By the ________ of the Lord were the heavens ________; and all the host of them by the breath of his mouth.”
  12. Psalms 33:9 says, “For he __________, and it was ________; he commanded, and it stood fast.”
  13. What did God create first, the seeds, or the plants/trees? ________________________
  14. Who planted the Garden of Eden—God or Adam? ___________
  17. Sowing the seed of God’s Word requires faith.God promised that He would bless His Word as it is sown, and that it would not return unto Him ________ (empty).
  18. Genesis 1:12 says, “And the earth brought forth grass, and herb yielding seed after his ____, and the tree yielding fruit, whose seed was in itself, after his ____: and God saw that it was good.”
  19. Whether it is with plants, trees, or animals, God has created everything within its “__________.” These are “boundaries” which God has created within these sets, which may not be ______________.
  20. Everything has marvelous design, because it has a Marvelous Designer—______.
  21. Psalms 19:1-3 says, “The ______________ declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork.Day unto day uttereth speech, and night unto night sheweth knowledge. There is no speech nor ________________, where their voice is not __________.”
  22. The “third heaven” or “________________” is the place where saved people immediately go when they die.
  23. Luke 23:42-43 says, “And he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom. And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, to day shalt thou be with me in ________________.”
  24. One of the major reasons for the sun, moon, and stars was for light. That is also a major reason why God leaves us here after we get saved—for the purpose of being a “__________.”
  25. Matthew 5:16 says, “Let your __________ so __________ before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your ____________ which is in heaven.”
  26. The sun, and the moon, and the stars do not all have the same brightness or __________.
  27. When we consider the glory of the celestial (that which is in the sky), compared to the glory of the terrestrial (that which is upon the earth), everything here seems pretty ______, in comparison.
  28. 1 Corinthians 2:9 says, “But as it is written, Eye hath not ________, nor ear __________, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath ________________ for them that love him.”
  29. Psalms 147:3-5 says, “He healeth the ____________ in __________, and bindeth up their wounds. He telleth the ____________ of the stars; he calleth them all by their __________.Great is our Lord, and of great power: his understanding is infinite.”
  30. The key to true “glory” in the Christian life is not seeking the ______________ positions, but to ____________ serve.
  31. You may think that your “course” in life is not very important, and that you are not having any impact upon anyone’s life—but you are.Romans 14:7 says, “For none of us liveth to ______________, and no man dieth to ______________.”
  32. There are people (and you do not even realize how many people) that are “charting” the course for their lives based partly upon what they see in ________ life, and how you ______________ to things that happen.
  34. Do you see the emphasis here?God does not want “________________” to RULE.God wants “__________” to RULE.
  35. The moon does not have any capability, of itself, to “PRODUCE” light—what it does is “______________” the light of the sun.Even so, we also have no light-producing capability in this old sinful flesh, but we can, by God’s grace, ______________ His glory.
  37. 1 Peter 1:14-16 says, “As ________________ children, not ____________________ yourselves according to the former __________ in your ignorance:But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye ________ in all manner of conversation;Because it is written, Be ye ________; for I am holy.”

38.The sun sets __________________—not suddenly, because the earth is rotating in front of the light of the sun.

  1. The earth, rotating in front of the sun and its light, gives us a length of time for our days, which is ____ hours.
  2. The cycle of the moon takes about 30 days to complete, so it gives us 12 time periods in a year (12 ____________).
  3. God also made the stars to provide us with a measurement for our ______________.
  4. God created the stars so ________________ in their courses, that they can also be used by navigators on ships and in airplanes to chart their courses, and to tell exactly where they are at night. This is how ships and planes navigated at night, when there were no GPS satellites and services.
  5. If the theory of evolution were true, then there would be no constellations of stars in the sky for very long, because the stars would be so rapidly moving ________ from each other, that they would no longer ________ up correctly.
  6. There is another big problem for the evolutionists. If all of the matter in the entire universe were condensed into a ball the size of a period—would it ______?
  7. Evolutionists reject the account of God creating the heaven and the earth, because they say that it takes __________ to believe that.
  8. People will believe anything other than creation, no matter how ridiculous it is (like evolution, and the Big Bang Theory), to get away from the thought of having to answer to ______ one day. This shows the truth, that Evolution IS Atheism.
