Welcome to Book 3 in the Examining Bible Translations series of the Liberty Bible Course. This booklet deals with Part 1 of the examination of the New International Version (NIV). This study is written to be used with the King James Version (KJV) of the Bible, otherwise your answers are going to be incorrect. Chapter 1

I. The Background Of The New International Version.

 

A. The idea to produce the New International Version.

    In 1965, after several years of study by committees from the Christian Reformed Church and the National Associations of Evangelicals, a group of scholars met and agreed that there was a need for a translation of the Bible in contemporary English. The group was transdenominational, being made up of “Anglican, Assemblies of God, Baptist, Brethren, Christian Reformed, Church of Christ, Evangelical Free, Lutheran, Mennonite, Methodist, Nazarene, Presbyterian, Wesleyan, and other churches” (http://www.ibs.org/niv/background.php). This was said to help “safeguard the translation from sectarian bias” (http://www.ibs.org/niv/background.php).
There are some important things to note in that paragraph. First, the idea for the need of a new translation arose out of the Christian Reformed Church. They have had their share of problems with college professors who have challenged the literal interpretation of Scripture (http://www.prca.org/janssen_and_common_grace/chapter7.html). If a denomination is having that kind of trouble with its scholars, one must carefully question why a new translation of the Bible was being desired by them.
Secondly, the actual translating committee was transdenominational (it was made up of people from many denominations). It was noted that this helped “safeguard the translation from sectarian bias” (http://www.ibs.org/niv/background.php).

 

The actual result of that is the opposite. It is not the Bible that they are

trying to safeguard — it is the sects, the denominations, that they are trying to

safeguard from passages which condemn their unscriptural practices.

 

 

    This explains why verses like Acts 8:37 were totally omitted from the NIV. The verse will be discussed in detail later, but the verse was too damaging to the many denominations that baptize babies, so they just removed the entire verse.

B. The copyright on the New International Version.

The NIV is copyrighted by the International Bible Society © 1973, 1978, 1984, so this translation may not be freely printed and distributed.  The King James Bible may be freely copied and distributed to people. (If you have a KJV which stipulates that the text is copyrighted, then you do not have a true KJV, but a text that a publisher has tampered with enough to copyright).

 

II. The Problems With The New International Version.

 

A. Some verses are totally missing from the NIV.

 

#1 — Matthew 17:21

“Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by ____________ and ______________.”

Note:   This whole verse has been totally removed from the NIV. Why? What part of this verse is too hard to understand? Why would this verse be removed in the name of updating from Old English to modern?  There is nothing in this verse that is too hard to understand; but, after looking at the context, we can quickly see why Satan would not want this verse in the Bible.

    1. Matthew 17:14-16 says, “And when they were come to the multitude, there came to him a certain man, kneeling down to him, and saying, Lord, have mercy on my ______: for he is ________________, and sore vexed: for ofttimes he falleth into the ________, and oft into the __________. And I brought him to thy disciples, and they could not ________ him.”

Note:   Now we find out what was causing him to act crazy.

    2. Matthew 17:17-18 says, “Then Jesus answered and said, O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you? how long shall I suffer you? bring him hither to me. And Jesus ______________ the __________; and he ________________ out of him: and the child was __________ from that very hour.?”

Note:   It was the devil in the boy that was causing him to act crazy and to do things harmful to his body. Jesus cast the devil out, and the boy was cured.  Notice carefully, as the disciples question the Lord, as to why they could not cast out the devil and help the boy.

    3. Matthew 17:19-21 says, “Then came the disciples to Jesus apart, and said, Why could not ____ cast him out? And Jesus said unto them, Because of your ________________: for verily I say unto you, If ye have __________ as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you. Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by ____________ and ______________.”

Note: The Lord let the disciples know that such acts of faith would only come about through prayer and fasting. That verse, verse 21, is the key verse in that passage and the answer to their question — and the NIV has totally removed that verse.

 

Do you understand now why the devil would want that verse removed from the Bible?

He does not want a host of Christians who are right with God and have power in prayer,

for they would prevail over him and his demons. Jesus said the key is

prayer and fasting, and the NIV has removed the key.

 

Is it any wonder that the devil seems to be prevailing everywhere in this world today? Christians who are using the NIV do not have the answer to the problem, because the translators have totally removed this verse.

 

#2 — Matthew 18:11

“For the Son of man is come to __________ that which was ________.”

 

Note:   This whole verse has been totally removed from the NIV. Why? What words in that verse are too hard to understand, and need updating? None. What could be behind the removal of this verse? Look at the passage closer.

    1. Matthew 18:10 says, “Take heed that ye despise not one of these little ones; for I say unto you, That in ____________ their ____________ do always behold the face of my ____________ which is in heaven.”
2. Matthew 18:14 says, “Even so it is not the will of your ____________ which is in ____________, that one of these little ones should ____________.”

Note:   With the removal of verse 11, “For the Son of man is come to save that which was lost,” the emphasis for deliverance now switches from the Lord Jesus Christ to the angels.  The angels are seen as the ones personally caring for those little lost sheep. They are seen in heaven beholding the face of the Father (like a scene of compassion, ready to go and save those little ones as soon as they hear the word from the Father).  The Father is seen as having compassion on those little ones in verse 14; but, once again, without verse 11, it seems to be the angels that are the ones ready to go and save them.

 

With the removal of verse 11 in the NIV, (“For the Son of man is come to save that which was lost”),

a person could easily think that the way to God and to heaven is through the angels.

That belief will send a person to hell, for the angels are not to be worshipped, and they cannot save.

 

    3. Revelation 22:8-9 says, “And I John saw these things, and heard them. And when I had heard and seen, I fell down to ______________ before the feet of the __________ which shewed me these things. Then saith he unto me, See thou do it ______: for I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren the prophets, and of them which keep the sayings of this book: worship ______.”
4. Hebrews 2:9 says, “But we see __________, who was made a little lower than the ____________ for the suffering of __________, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste __________ for every ______.”
5. Hebrews 2:14-16 says, “Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of __________ and __________, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through __________ he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the __________; And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage. For verily he took not on him the nature of ____________; but he took on him the seed of ______________.”

 

Why would Satan want verse 11 to be removed, and then to have people

look to angels to deliver them? Because Satan himself is an angel — a fallen angel,

and he has always wanted man to worship him — not the Lord Jesus Christ.

 

    6. Ezekiel 28 deals with the wicked king of Tyrus, and the power behind him — Satan. Ezekiel 28:13 says, “Thou hast been in ________ the ____________ of God; every precious stone was thy covering, the sardius, topaz, and the diamond, the beryl, the onyx, and the jasper, the sapphire, the emerald, and the carbuncle, and gold: the workmanship of thy tabrets and of thy pipes was prepared in thee in the day that thou wast created.”
7. Ezekiel 28:14 says, “Thou art the anointed ____________ that covereth; and I have set thee so: thou wast upon the holy mountain of God; thou hast walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire.”

Note:   A cherub is one of the types of angels which God created.

    8. Ezekiel 28:15 says, “Thou wast ______________ in thy ways from the day that thou wast created, till ________________ was found in thee.”
9. Ezekiel 28:17 says, “Thine heart was lifted up because of thy ____________, thou hast __________________ thy wisdom by reason of thy brightness: I will cast thee to the ground, I will lay thee before kings, that they may behold thee.”
10. Isaiah 14:12-15 gives further information. “How art thou fallen from heaven, O ______________, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations! For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt ____   ____________ above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north: I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High. Yet thou shalt be brought down to ________, to the sides of the pit.”

Note:   Now do you understand why Satan would want verse 11 removed (“For the Son of man is come to save that which was lost.”)? Satan does not want people to look to Jesus for deliverance

 

— Satan wants people to look to him.

    11. Galatians 1:3-5 says, “Grace be to you and peace from God the Father, and from our ________ __________ ____________, Who gave himself for our ________, that he might ______________ us from this present evil world, according to the will of God and our Father: To whom be __________ for ever and ever. Amen.”
12. Galatians 1:6-8 says, “I marvel that ye are so ________ removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto ______________ gospel: Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would ______________ the gospel of Christ. But though we, or an __________ from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be ________________.”

 

Chapter 2

#3 — Matthew 23:14

“Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, ____________________! for ye devour widows’ houses, and for a pretence make long prayer: therefore ye shall receive the ______________    __________________.”

 

Note:   This entire verse has been removed from the NIV. Why? The language is easily understandable.   This verse teaches something that many people do not understand; and because they do not, they turn against God and become bitter toward Him.  Many people look around and see all of the evil taking place, and they accuse God of not caring. They see the hypocrisy, even in religious circles, and they decide that life is not fair, and that God is not fair. So they set out to do as wickedly as they please. That is exactly what Satan wants.

 

Verse 14 shows that God does care about what is happening, and that

He will one day give to all people exactly what they deserve

— but the verse is completely missing in the NIV.

 

    1. Matthew 10:14-15 says, “And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear your words, when ye depart out of that house or city, shake off the dust of your feet. Verily I say unto you, It shall be ________   __________________ for the land of Sodom and Gomorrha in the day of ________________, than for that city.”

Note:   Why would God make it more tolerable for the people of Sodom and Gomorrah in the day of judgment, than for the people who heard the disciples preach, but rejected it?  The people of Sodom and Gomorrah were involved in wicked, immoral perversion.

    2. Genesis 19:4-7 says, “But before they lay down, the men of the city, even the men of Sodom, compassed the house round, both old and young, all the people from every quarter: And they called unto Lot, and said unto him, Where are the ______ which came in to thee this night? bring them out unto us, that we may ________ them. And Lot went out at the door unto them, and shut the door after him, And said, I pray you, brethren, do not so ________________.”

Note:   Lot was ready to offer his own daughters for immorality to these wicked men, before he was willing to give up the men who were visiting him (whom he did not yet know that they were really angels) to their wicked perversion.

    3. Genesis 19:8-9 says, “Behold now, I have two daughters which have not known man; let me, I pray you, bring them out unto you, and do ye to them as is good in your eyes: only unto these men do nothing; for therefore came they under the shadow of my roof. And they said, Stand back. And they said again, This one fellow came in to ______________, and he will needs be a __________: now will we deal __________ with ________, than with them. And they pressed sore upon the man, even Lot, and came near to break the door.”

Note:   The men of Sodom were now furious at Lot, because he was just a sojourner (a temporary visitor) there in their city, and he dared to judge them and call their actions wicked.

 

It is the same with Sodomites today. They go into a rage when it is

brought out that their sin is wicked and vile and perverted. No one is

born a Sodomite.   That is a wicked and perverted sin that is learned

from associating with other wicked and vile and perverted people.

 

    4. Romans 1:24 says, “Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to __________________ their own bodies between themselves:”
5. Romans 1:26-28 says, “For this cause God gave them up unto ________ affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is ______________ ____________: And likewise also the men, leaving the ______________    ______ of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; ______ with ______ working that which is ________________, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet. And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a __________________ mind, to do those things which are not convenient;”

Note:   The word reprobate means, “Abandoned in sin; lost to virtue or grace.” (Noah Webster’s 1828 Dictionary)

Note:   So why would God make the judgment more tolerable for the people of Sodom, than for the people who heard the disciples, but rejected the gospel? Because the people of Sodom never heard the gospel from Lot. At the last minute, he called their actions wicked, and tried to warn his sons-in-law, but they would not listen.

    6. Genesis 19:12-14 says, “And the men said unto Lot, Hast thou here any besides? son in law, and thy sons, and thy daughters, and whatsoever thou hast in the city, bring them out of this place: For we will destroy this place, because the cry of them is waxen great before the face of the LORD; and the LORD hath sent us to destroy it. And ______ went out, and __________ unto his ________   ____   ______, which married his daughters, and said, Up, get you out of this place; for the LORD will destroy this city. But he seemed as one that ____________ unto his sons in law.”  

Note:   There are more passages which teach the same thing, that it will be more tolerable in the day of judgment for those who do not hear the Word of God, than for those who do hear it, but reject it.

    7. Matthew 11:20-22 says, “Then began he to upbraid the cities wherein most of his ____________ works were done, because they ________________ ______: Woe unto thee, Chorazin! woe unto thee, Bethsaida! for if the mighty works, which were done in you, had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes. But I say unto you, It shall be ________ __________________ for Tyre and Sidon at the day of ________________, than for you.”
8. Matthew 11:23-24 says, “And thou, Capernaum, which art exalted unto heaven, shalt be brought down to hell: for if the ____________ works, which have been done in thee, had been done in Sodom, it would have remained until this day. But I say unto you, That it shall be ________   __________________ for the land of Sodom in the day of judgment, than for thee.”

 

This is teaching the truth that God is fair, and that He will, in the day of judgment, give to all

people exactly what they deserve. This is in regard to the saved, and in regard to the lost.

 

    9. 1 Corinthians 3:11-15 shows the Judgment Seat of Christ, and the saved people getting exactly what they deserve. “For other ____________________ can no man lay than that is laid, which is __________    ____________. Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble; Every man’s work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the ________ shall try every man’s ________ of what ________ it is. If any man’s work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a ____________. If any man’s work shall be burned, he shall suffer ________: but he ______________ shall be __________; yet so as by fire.”
10. Revelation 20:11-15 shows the Great White Throne Judgment, and lost people getting exactly what they deserve. “And I saw a __________    __________   ____________, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them. And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were ____________ out of those things which were written in the books, according to their __________. And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the ________ of ________.”

Note:   The lost are judged there according to their works — not to determine their salvation, but to determine the exact degree of punishment that they deserve for all of eternity.

    11. Ephesians 2:8-9 says, “For by grace are ye __________ through __________; and that ______ of ____________________: it is the ________ of God: ______ of __________, lest any man should boast.”
12. Titus 3:5 says, “______ by __________ of righteousness which ____ have done, but according to his mercy he __________ us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;”

Note:   The lost are judged according to their works at the Great White Throne Judgment — not to determine their salvation — they are already lost, that is why they are there, but to determine the exact degree of torment that they deserve for all of eternity. Do not ever say that God is unfair. God is fair. He will give exactly what people deserve at the Judgment Day.

 

How can the torment in hell be of different degrees for different people? The same way that

there are different degrees of flames today. Light a match, and you will have a flame that hurts you.

Now, light a propane torch, and you will have a flame that hurts more, because it is hotter.

Now, light a gas welder, and add some oxygen to the acetylene, and you have a flame that

will hurt more severely, because it is hotter. That is the same way that the lake of fire will

hold more torment for some. All who are there are in pain in the flames of hell fire, but each

person will receive the exact degree of punishment that each one deserves.

 

    Why would the devil not want that truth in the Bible? Because it would cause people to stop and think before they did wicked deeds. They would realize that every single wicked deed will bring about a greater degree of punishment. That thought alone may bring many people to repentance and salvation, so they could escape hell fire someday.  But with people’s present idea of hell (darkness, smoke, some fire, being chased, etc.), that is not much different than the bars where they spend their time right now (dimly-lighted, smoke-filled, flames of cigarette lighters, wicked men and women chasing each other, etc.).   Because of this mindset, people figure that they might as well live as wickedly as they want to now, seeming they are going to hell anyway. Satan wants them to think that way, because he can then use them to accomplish more wicked deeds.

#4 — Mark 7:16

“If any man have ________ to hear, let him ________.”

 

Note:   What is hard to understand about this verse? Why would the translators remove the entire verse?

    1. Mark 7:15 says, “There is nothing from ______________ a man, that entering into him can defile him: but the things which ________   ______ of him, those are they that ____________ the man.”

Note:   In life, man is so prone to blame his problems on someone else. The study of Psychology has only made this problem worse. Now, every problem that a person has is caused by something or someone other than himself.  Jesus was trying to get people to see that their biggest problem comes from within — their sin nature. They do bad things because they have a bad heart.

    2. Jeremiah 17:9-10 says, “The __________ is __________________ above all things, and desperately ____________: who can know it? I the LORD search the heart, I try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings.”
3. Matthew 12:34-35 says, “O generation of vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak good things? for out of the abundance of the __________ the __________ speaketh. A good man out of the good treasure of the heart bringeth forth good things: and an evil man out of the evil treasure bringeth forth evil things.”

 

The problem today is that many people think that they are basically good — not basically sinful and selfish.

God wants all people to listen to what He has said, and apply it personally. The NIV has removed this verse completely.

That is exactly what Satan wants — for people to not apply the Bible to themselves personally.

 

    4. James 1:22-24 says, “But be ye __________ of the ________, and ______   ______________    ________,   __________________ your own selves. For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass: For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway ____________________ what manner of man he was.”

 

#5 — Mark 9:44

“Where their ________ dieth not, and the ________ is not quenched.”

 

Note:   Once again, there is nothing here that needs to be updated, in regard to the language. Then why did the NIV translators remove this verse? Many different denominations were involved in the translation work of the NIV, and many churches are forsaking the idea that there is a literal, eternal, lake of fire for the lost. For those who believe in some kind of punishment, they generally think that it is temporary, and then man will be released.

 

This verse teaches two very important things. Number one, that people are physically whole,

but experiencing an eternal dying for ever in hell. And number two, that there is eternal torment in hell.

 

    1. The first part of Mark 9:44 says, “Where their worm __________   ______.”
2. Job 24:19-20 says, “Drought and heat consume the snow waters: so doth the __________ those which have sinned. The womb shall forget him; the ________ shall ________ sweetly on him; he shall be no more remembered; and wickedness shall be broken as a tree.”

Note:   When the body dies, the worms come and feed upon it. But when the body is consumed, the worms perish.  The Bible says in verse 44 that when people are resurrected and cast into the lake of fire, their worms will not die. That is clear language showing that those people’s bodies continue to be physically whole — but forever dying and their bodies never consumed.  That is a very important verse that would prove many churches wrong in their doctrines dealing with what awaits mankind after death. But the NIV has totally removed this important verse.

    3. The second part of Mark 9:44 says, “…and the fire is ______   ________________.”

Note:   The first part of the verse shows that the people in hell are never consumed, but eternally experiencing death. The second part of the verse shows that the fire in hell is never going to be extinguished.  Without the first part of the verse, someone may say that the fire in hell continues on forever, but the people are either let out after a while, or are just totally consumed and cease to exist after a while. But neither is true. Lost people in hell experience an eternal death in an eternal fire.

 

The NIV has totally removed this very important verse
from the Bible. That is exactly what Satan wants — people
to not fear what awaits them in an eternal lake of fire.

#6 — Mark 9:46

“Where their ________ dieth not, and the ________ is not quenched.”

 

Note:   This is repeating the same previous verse. When God repeats something, it is because He wants man to especially note that thing.

 

#7 — Mark 11:26

“But if ____ do not ______________, neither will your ____________ which is in heaven forgive ________ trespasses.”

 

Note:   This entire verse is missing in the NIV. What Old English words are there that were so out-of-date that it required removing the entire verse? None.

    1. Mark 11:25 says, “And when ye stand ______________,   ______________, if ye have ought against any: that your ____________ also which is in heaven may forgive you ________ trespasses.”

Note:   To remove verse 26 is to remove the seriousness of not forgiving those who have wronged you. This is not just a suggestion from the Lord, but a requirement if you want the Father to forgive you.

Satan would love for people to not take this “forgiving others thing” seriously.

For he knows that if they do not, then their prayer lives will be hindered,

and he will then be able to accomplish more of his wicked plan.

 

    2. Psalms 66:18 says, “If I regard ________________ in my __________, the ________ will ______ ________ me.”

 

#8 — Mark 15:28

“And the __________________ was __________________, which saith, And he was numbered with the transgressors.”

 

Note:   The NIV totally removes this verse of Scripture which shows the importance of Scripture being fulfilled. Notice, once again, how updating language has nothing at all to do with this change.

 

The fulfillment of prophecy in Scripture is counted as a very important thing in the Bible.

For one thing, it proves the supernatural character of the Bible.

 

    1. John 17:11-12 says, “And now I am no more in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to thee. Holy Father, keep through thine own name those whom thou hast given me, that they may be one, as we are. While I was with them in the world, I kept them in thy name: those that thou gavest me I have kept, and none of them is lost, but the ______ of __________________; that the __________________ might be __________________.”
2. John 19:23-24 “Then the soldiers, when they had crucified Jesus, took his garments, and made four parts, to every soldier a part; and also his coat: now the coat was without seam, woven from the top throughout. They said therefore among themselves, Let us not rend it, but cast lots for it, whose it shall be: that the __________________ might be __________________, which saith, They _____________ my raiment among them, and for my vesture they did ________ ________. These things therefore the soldiers did.”
3. John 19:28-30 says, “After this, Jesus knowing that all things were now accomplished, that the __________________ might be __________________, saith, I ____________. Now there was set a vessel full of vinegar: and they filled a spunge with vinegar, and put it upon hyssop, and put it to his mouth. When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost.”

 

The Bible is very careful to mention that every last prophecy in Scripture about the cross

and Jesus’ life was fulfilled before He died — right up to saying, “I thirst.”

The NIV translators did not revere the Scripture in that same way, for they took out

an entire verse that referenced the fulfillment of prophecy in Jesus’ life.

Chapter 3

#9 — Luke 17:36

“Two men shall be in the field; the one shall be __________, and the other ________.”

 

Note:   What was so hard to understand about this verse that the NIV translators took it entirely out of the Bible?  This whole passage deals with the Lord’s return.

    1. Luke 17:24 says, “For as the __________________, that lighteneth out of the ______ part under heaven, shineth unto the __________ part under heaven; so shall also the ______ of man be in his day.”
2. Luke 17:26 says, “And as it was in the days of ______, so shall it be also in the days of the ______ of man.”
3. Luke 17:28-30 says, “Likewise also as it was in the days of ______; they did ______, they __________, they ____________, they ________, they ______________, they ______________; But the same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all. Even thus shall it be in the day when the ______ of man is revealed.”
4. Luke 17:34-36 says, “I tell you, in that night there shall be two men in one ______; the one shall be taken, and the other shall be left. Two women shall be ________________ together; the one shall be taken, and the other left. Two men shall be in the __________; the one shall be taken, and the other left.”

Note:   The NIV totally removed verse 36 there, but all three of those verses are important, because they show the different time zones that will all be affected when the Lord returns — some will be sleeping; some will be grinding early in the morning; and some will be working during the day in the field.  All three verses are also important when considering the responsibilities that all believers have.
Two men are going to be in bed when the Lord returns — but only one is going to be prepared for His coming. That one should have warned the other one, instead of taking it for granted that another day would come for that.
Two women are going to be grinding together, but only one is going to be prepared for the Lord’s coming. You can imagine how they talk while they work, but the one woman should have brought around the conversation to eternal matters. Women have a responsibility to reach the women that God brings into their realm.
And then the NIV removes the entire verse that shows the two men working together in the field. Men often neglect the important responsibility to reach those with whom they work. Only one man is ready for the Lord’s return, and it happens right while they are at work.

 

It is interesting that the NIV shows men sleeping and women working, but totally removes

the verse that shows the men working. That is one of our greatest problems right now

— a lack of men being the spiritual leaders that they ought to be. The NIV removes

any conviction from the men for not witnessing to those with whom they work.

Satan does not want the men to realize their responsibility and serve the Lord.

#10 — Luke 23:17

“(For of __________________ he must ______________ one unto them at the __________.)”

 

Note:   There is nothing in this verse that is Old English and would require updating. The NIV translators simply removed the entire verse.
Pilate could not find any fault with Jesus, so he wanted to use the traditional releasing of a prisoner at the feast, in His case.

    1. Luke 23:13-17 says, “And Pilate, when he had called together the chief priests and the rulers and the people, Said unto them, Ye have brought this man unto me, as one that perverteth the people: and, behold, I, having examined him before you, have found ____    __________ in this man touching those things whereof ye accuse him: No, nor yet Herod: for I sent you to him; and, lo, nothing worthy of death is done unto him. I will therefore chastise him, and ______________ him. (For of necessity he must release one unto them at the feast.)”
2. With the NIV’s removal of verse 17, verses 18 and 19 would make no sense. “And they cried out all at once, saying, Away with this man, and ______________ unto us ________________: (Who for a certain sedition made in the city, and for ____________, was cast into prison.).”

Note:   Why would the people suddenly cry out for a wicked murderer to be released from prison? What did that have to do with Jesus and His case? Absolutely nothing — except for the matter that Pilate was required to release one prisoner at the feast.

 

#11 — John 5:4

“For an __________ went down at a certain season into the pool, and ________________ the water: whosoever then __________ after the troubling of the water stepped in was made __________ of whatsoever disease he had.”

 

Note:   The NIV removes this entire verse from the Bible. What is hard to understand about this verse? Nothing. Then why did they remove it?

    1. Verse 4 gives the explanation of what was moving the water. John 5:2-4 says, “Now there is at Jerusalem by the sheep market a pool, which is called in the Hebrew tongue Bethesda, having five porches. In these lay a great multitude of impotent folk, of blind, halt, withered, waiting for the ________________________ of the water. For an __________ went down at a certain season into the pool, and ________________ the water: whosoever then first after the troubling of the water stepped in was made whole of whatsoever disease he had.”
2. John 5:5-7 say, “And a certain man was there, which had an infirmity ____________ and __________ years. When Jesus saw him lie, and knew that he had been now a long time in that case, he saith unto him, Wilt thou be made whole? The impotent man answered him, Sir, I have no man, when the __________ is ________________, to put me into the pool: but while I am coming, another steppeth down before me.”

Note:   Apart from the explanation that God was sending an angel to move or trouble the water, what might a person think? That the healing was coming through the water itself? Was it a hot mineral spring? Was it a geyser of some type with special healing abilities?

 

By the NIV totally removing verse 4, people could easily think that

people were healed there because of the special water, instead of through God

sending his angel. Satan wants people to look to natural things, instead of to God, for healing.

#12 — Acts 8:37

“And Philip said, ____ thou __________________ with all thine __________, thou ____________. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.”

 

Note:   Once again, this change has nothing to do with updating Old English words. The NIV translators simply removed this entire verse from the Bible.

 

There is nothing hard to understand about this verse.

A question was asked, and this verse is giving the answer.

The problem is that the NIV translators were from a variety of denominations

— and many of them would not like the answer given in verse 37.

 

    1. Acts 8:36 says, “And as they went on their way, they came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, here is __________; what doth ____________ me to be ________________?”
2. The NIV skips right to verse 38, “And he commanded the chariot to stand still: and they went down both into the __________, both Philip and the eunuch; and he ________________ him.”

Note:    According to the NIV, nothing hinders a person from getting baptized (because they entirely took away verse 37), so Philip baptized him. But according to the Bible (verse 37), a person cannot get baptized unless he first believes upon the Lord Jesus Christ with all his heart.

What is so important about this verse is that it clearly rules out baptizing babies

— a practice that many of the NIV translators (who were representative of Anglican’s,

Lutheran’s, Reformed, Methodist’s, etc.) practice in their churches.  Satan wants

people to think that if a baby is baptized, he/she will go to heaven.  Satan does not want

people to know that they must first, personally trust Jesus Christ with all their hearts.

 

Note:   By taking away verse 37, it also lends to the false teaching that baptism can also save adults.  Also, by taking away verse 37, it totally takes away the confession of a person’s faith in Christ.

    3. Romans 10:9-10 “That if thou shalt ______________ with thy mouth the ________   __________, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the __________    ____________________ is made unto salvation.”

 

The NIV takes away this most important verse.  If the NIV had made

only this one change, all Christians everywhere should have rejected it.

#13 — Acts 15:34

“Notwithstanding it pleased __________ to abide there __________.”

Note:   This verse has been totally removed by the NIV translators. Was there any Old English in it that made it impossible to understand? No. Then why was this verse removed?

    1. Romans 14:7 says, “For ________ of us liveth to ______________, and no man dieth to ______________.”

Note:   What this means is that our lives affect others. If we live we affect others, and if we die, that also affects others. That is why it is so important that we faithfully serve the Lord while we have the chance, that others may also be encouraged to do so.  That is exactly what we see here in this passage. False doctrine had been brought up by false teachers that had come from Judea, and Paul and Barnabas had faithfully stood against that false doctrine.

    2. Acts 15:1-2 says, “And certain men which came down from Judaea taught the brethren, and said, ____________ ye be ______________________ after the manner of Moses, ye ____________ be __________. When therefore Paul and Barnabas had no small dissension and disputation with them, they determined that Paul and Barnabas, and certain other of them, should go up to Jerusalem unto the apostles and elders about this question.”

Note:   They discussed the matter at Jerusalem, and sent word back to refute that false doctrine. When people are willing to stand upon God’s Word as the authority, it stirs up others to also stand, and that is exactly what we see happen here.

    3. Acts 15:22-27 says, “Then pleased it the apostles and elders, with the whole church, to send ____________ men of their own company to Antioch with Paul and Barnabas; namely, Judas surnamed Barsabas, and __________, chief men among the brethren: And they wrote letters by them after this manner; The apostles and elders and brethren send greeting unto the brethren which are of the Gentiles in Antioch and Syria and Cilicia: Forasmuch as we have heard, that certain which went out from us have ________________ you with __________, ____________________ your souls, saying, Ye must be circumcised, and keep the law: to whom we gave no such commandment: It seemed good unto us, being assembled with one accord, to send chosen men unto you with our beloved Barnabas and Paul, Men that have hazarded their lives for the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. We have sent therefore Judas and __________, who shall also tell you the same things by __________.”
4. Acts 15:33-35 says, “And after they had tarried there a space, they were ______   ____ in peace from the brethren unto the apostles. Notwithstanding it ______________ Silas to __________ there __________. Paul also and Barnabas continued in Antioch, teaching and preaching the word of the Lord, with many others also.”

Note:   By taking verse 34 right out of the Bible, it is removing a powerful reminder to us that each of our lives do have an influence upon others.  By Paul and Barnabas being willing to stand upon God?s Word, it not only stopped the false doctrine that some were spreading, but it also ended up being used of God to call out yet another missionary ? Silas. Would that not be exciting, to think that God used you to encourage a person to give his life full-time to missions? You do not get that example in the NIV, because the translators took this entire verse out of the Bible.

Chapter 4

#14 — Acts 24:7

“But the chief ______________ Lysias came upon us, and with great ________________   ________ him away out of our hands.”

 

Note:   The NIV translators took this entire verse out of the Bible. Why? What was hard to understand about this verse? What Old English words were in this verse that made it impossible to update? None. Then why was it removed?

    1. Acts 24:1 says, “And after five days Ananias the high priest descended with the elders, and with a certain ____________ named __________________, who informed the governor ______________ Paul.”

Note:   The Jews hired an orator to speak for them before Felix. An orator is “one distinguished for skill and power as a public speaker” (Merriam-Webster’s 11th Collegiate Dictionary).  The verse that the NIV has totally removed shows that the Jews were lying about what really happened. It was not Lysias that came upon them with great violence, but they themselves that came upon Paul with great violence.

    2. Acts 21:30-36 says, “And all the city was moved, and the people ran together: and they took Paul, and drew him out of the temple: and forthwith the doors were shut. And as they went about to ________ him, tidings came unto the chief ______________ of the band, that all Jerusalem was in an ____________. Who immediately took soldiers and centurions, and ran down unto them: and when they ______ the chief captain and the soldiers, they ________ ______________ of Paul. Then the chief captain came near, and took him, and commanded him to be bound with two chains; and demanded who he was, and what he had done. And some cried one thing, some another, among the multitude: and when he could not know the certainty for the tumult, he commanded him to be carried into the castle. And when he came upon the stairs, so it was, that he was borne of the soldiers for the ________________ of the ____________. For the multitude of the people followed after, crying, Away with him.”

Note:   So we find that the Jews had hired a persuasive speaker to lie to Felix about what had really happened. They were falsely accusing Paul, and now they were falsely accusing the chief captain of the Roman army, to try and make themselves look good.  By the NIV taking out this entire verse, it fails to show the depths and the extent of the lies which they were willing to tell to condemn an innocent man. Satan does not want people to know just how evil some people are, and the depths of lies that they will tell.

 

#15 — Acts 28:29

“And when he had said these words, the ________ departed, and had great __________________ among themselves.”

 

Note:   What Old English words are in that verse that make it so hard to understand, that the NIV translators felt the need to remove the entire verse from the Bible?
Paul is now being held in Rome, and he wanted to speak with the Jews there.

    1. Acts 28:16-17 says, “And when we came to ________, the centurion delivered the prisoners to the captain of the guard: but Paul was suffered to dwell by ______________ with a ______________ that kept him. And it came to pass, that after three days Paul called the chief of the ________ together: and when they were come together, he said unto them, Men and brethren, though I have committed nothing against the people, or customs of our fathers, yet was I delivered prisoner from Jerusalem into the hands of the Romans.”

     2. Acts 28:23-24 says, “And when they had appointed him a day, there came ________ to him into his lodging; to whom he expounded and __________________ the kingdom of God, persuading them concerning __________, both out of the law of Moses, and out of the prophets, from morning till evening. And some ________________ the things which were spoken, and some believed ______.”

    3. Acts 28:25-28 says, “And when they ____________   ______ among themselves, they ________________, after that Paul had spoken one word, Well spake the Holy Ghost by Esaias the prophet unto our fathers, Saying, Go unto this people, and say, Hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall see, and not perceive: For the __________ of this people is waxed gross, and their ________ are dull of hearing, and their ________ have they closed; lest they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and should be __________________, and I should heal them. Be it known therefore unto you, that the salvation of God is sent unto the ________________, and that they will hear it.”

Note:   By removing verse 29, as the NIV does, we would think that many of the Jews just simply scoffed at and forgot all that Paul had said to them. But that was not the case at all.

    4. Acts 28:29 says, “And when he had said these words, the ________ departed, and had __________    __________________ among themselves.”

    5. Isaiah 1:18 says, “Come now, and let us ____________ together, saith the LORD: though your ________ be as ______________, they shall be as __________ as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.”

 

Many times when we witness to the lost, we may think that they discount what we say

and think that it all sounds ridiculous. But if we only knew what they were really thinking

after they have heard the Word of God, we would sometimes be greatly encouraged to see

how the Holy Spirit is indeed working in their hearts. But you would not get that encouragement

from the NIV in this passage, because they removed this entire verse. That is Satan’s goal,

to discourage people from witnessing, and to make them think that no one

is really taking anything that they say very seriously.

 

#16 — Romans 16:24

“The __________ of our Lord Jesus Christ be ________   ______   ______. Amen.”  

 

Note:   Why did the NIV translators remove that verse? Are there any Old English words in it? Is that verse really that hard to understand, that the entire verse had to be removed?  Is the grace of God not that important? Can it be lightly removed, and should Christians just accept that? No.

    1. Ephesians 2:4-9 says, “But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by __________ ye are __________;) And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus: That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his __________ in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus. For by __________ are ye __________ through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the ________ of God: ______ of __________, lest any man should boast.”

Note:   We are saved by grace, and we can only live for God by His grace, in this troubled and sinful world.

    2.     2 Timothy 2:1-4 says, “Thou therefore, my son, be ____________ in the __________ that is in Christ Jesus. And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also. Thou therefore endure ________________, as a good ______________ of Jesus Christ. No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier.”

 

Satan does not want the grace of God made known to lost sinners so that they can get saved.

Satan does not want Christians to be reminded to rely upon the grace of God in their lives.

He wants them to think that they can handle things on their own, because he knows that will

make them prideful, and will bring the chastening of God upon them. The NIV translators have

removed an entire verse reminding Christians that they need the grace of God in their lives.

Why would Christians ever buy such a translation of the Bible?

 

Note:   We have just covered 16 verses of the Bible that the NIV translators entirely removed. Now we will look at some of the verses which they have changed by deleting a portion of the verses.

 

 

B. Some verses are partially missing from the NIV.

 

#1 — Colossians 1:14

KJV (King James Version)    –   “In whom we have redemption ______________    ______   __________, even the forgiveness of sins:”

NIV (New International Version)    –   “In whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.”

NWT (New World Translation — Jehovah’s Witnesses)   –   “By means of whom we have our release by ransom, the forgiveness of our sins.”

 

Notice that both the NIV and the Jehovah’s Witnesses NWT leave out

the phrase “through his blood.” How important is that? We often hear,

“These new Bible translations are okay. They do not change anything

that affects any doctrine.” That is certainly not true, as we shall see

here in this example. First, it is VERY IMPORTANT when ANYTHING

is added or subtracted from God’s Word.

 

    1. Deuteronomy 4:2 says, “Ye shall not ______ unto the word which I command you, neither shall ye ________________ ought from it, that ye may keep the commandments of the LORD your God which I command you.”

Note:   It does not matter whether man thinks that God has such a multitude of words in the Bible, that some of them can be omitted or changed with no harm. That is not what God says about His Word.

    2. Proverbs 30:5-6 says, “__________  ________ of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him. ______ thou ______ unto his words, lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a liar.”

Note:   God gives a very serious warning not to change His Word.

    3. Revelation 22:18-19 says, “For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall ______ unto these things, God shall add unto him the ______________ that are written in this book: And if any man shall ________   ________ from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the ________ of ________, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.”

Note:   That means that a truly saved person would never take away from the Word of God. There is a holy reverence of the Bible on the part of true Christians, and a fear of God to ever do such a thing.

 

Secondly, it is VERY IMPORTANT when someone LEAVES
OUT the BLOOD of Jesus Christ in the matter of redemption.

 

    4. Jesus said in Matthew 26:28, “For this is my __________ of the new testament, which is shed for many for the _____________________ of sins.”
5. Acts 20:28 leaves a serious warning to preachers in regard to their flocks, “Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the __________, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own __________.”

Note:    Preachers are to take great care of the flock which was purchased with the blood of Christ on the cross. Preachers, of all people, should be the first to rise up and condemn any translation of the Scripture that would dare remove the blood from such a verse, because there is no forgiveness apart from the blood of Jesus Christ.

    6. Romans 5:8-9 says, “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, being now __________________ by his __________, we shall be __________ from wrath through him.”
7. Ephesians 1:7 says, “In whom we have ____________________ through his __________, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace.”
8. Colossians 1:20 says, “And, having made peace through the __________ of his __________, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven.”
9. Hebrews 9:12-14 says, “Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his ______ __________ he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal ____________________ for us. For if the blood of bulls and of goats, and the ashes of an heifer sprinkling the unclean, sanctifieth to the purifying of the flesh: How much more shall the __________ of ____________, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?”

    10. 1 Peter 1:18-19 says, “Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; But with the precious __________ of ____________, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot.?
11. 1 John 1:7 says, “But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the __________ of Jesus Christ his Son __________________ us from all ______.”
12. Revelation 1:5 says, “And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and ____________ us from our ________ in his own __________.”
13. Revelation 5:9 says, “And they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast _________________ us to God by thy __________ out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation.”
14. Revelation 7:13-14 says, “And one of the elders answered, saying unto me, What are these which are arrayed in white robes? and whence came they? And I said unto him, Sir, thou knowest. And he said to me, These are they which came out of great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them __________ in the __________ of the ________.”
15. Revelation 12:11 says, “And they overcame him by the __________ of the ________, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.”

 

Do you see what an important change this was? This was not a change to update Old English.

Who does not understand the word blood? This is clearly the work of Satan

— as he begins the gradual process of removing key things from the Scriptures.

This is only the first round. The same translators have already put out a

new translation called the TNIV, which has made many more changes.

 

    16. Remember Proverbs 30:5? “__________   ________ of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him.”
17. Matthew 5:17-18 says, “Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one ______ or one ____________ shall in no wise ________ from the law, till all be fulfilled.”

Note:   The word jot is, “the tenth letter of the Hebrew alphabet, and the eighth letter (iota) of the Greek alphabet; figuratively used for a very small part of anything” (Strong’s Concordance).  The word tittle means, “the apex of a Hebrew letter; figuratively used of the least particle” (Strong’s Concordance).  This shows us how serious God is about preserving His Word in the smallest detail. Not only in preserving the words, but the correct form of the words, (singular, plural, correct tense, gender etc.).

    1. The actual translating committee was transdenominational (it was made up of people from ________ denominations). It was noted that this helped “safeguard the translation from sectarian ________.”
2. The actual result of that is the opposite. It is not the Bible that they are trying to safeguard — it is the sects, the denominations, that they are trying to safeguard from passages which condemn their ________________________ practices. (like baptizing babies, etc.)
3. The NIV is copyrighted by the International Bible Society © 1973, 1978, 1984, so this translation may ______ be freely printed and distributed. The King James Bible may be freely copied and distributed to people. (If you have a KJV which stipulates that the text is copyrighted, then you do ______ have a true KJV, but a text that a publisher has tampered with enough to copyright).
4. Matthew 17:21 has been totally ______________ in the NIV. “Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting.”
5. Do you understand now why the devil would want that verse removed from the Bible? He does not want a host of Christians who are right with God and have power in prayer, for they would prevail over him and his demons. Jesus said the key is _____________ and ______________, and the NIV has removed the key.
6. Matthew 18:11 has been totally ______________ in the NIV. “For the Son of man is come to save that which was lost.”
7. With the removal of verse 11 in the NIV, (“For the Son of man is come to save that which was lost”), a person could easily think that the way to God and to heaven is through the ____________. That belief will send a person to hell, for the angels are not to be worshipped, and they cannot save.
8. Why would Satan want verse 11 to be removed, and then to have people look to angels to deliver them? Because __________ himself is an angel — a fallen angel, and he has always wanted man to worship him — not the Lord Jesus Christ.
9. Matthew 23:14 has been totally ______________ in the NIV. “Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye devour widows’ houses, and for a pretence make long prayer: therefore ye shall receive the greater damnation.”
10. Many people look around and see all of the evil taking place, and they accuse God of not caring. They see the hypocrisy, even in religious circles, and they decide that life is not fair, and that God is not fair. So they set out to do as wickedly as they please. That is exactly what Satan wants. Verse 14 shows that God does care about what is happening, and that He will one day give to all people ______________ what they deserve — but the verse is completely missing in the NIV.
11. How can the torment in hell be of different degrees for different people? The same way that there are different degrees of ____________ today. Light a match, and you will have a flame that hurts you. Now, light a propane torch, and you will have a flame that hurts more, because it is hotter. Now, light a gas welder, and add some oxygen to the acetylene, and you have a flame that will hurt more severely, because it is hotter. That is the same way that the lake of fire will hold more torment for some. All who are there are in ________ in the flames of hell fire, but each person will receive the exact ____________ of punishment that each one deserves.
12. Mark 7:16 has been totally ______________ in the NIV. “If any man have ears to hear, let him hear.”
13. The problem today is that many people think that they are basically ________ — not basically sinful and selfish. God wants all people to listen to what He has said, and apply it ____________________. The NIV has removed this verse completely. That is exactly what Satan wants — for people to not apply the Bible to themselves personally.
14. Mark 9:44 has been totally ______________ in the NIV. “Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched.”
15. Many different denominations were involved in the translation work of the NIV, and many churches are forsaking the idea that there is a literal, eternal, lake of fire for the lost. For those who believe in some kind of punishment, they generally think that it is __________________, and then man will be released. This verse teaches two very important things: number one, that people are physically whole, but experiencing an eternal dying for ever in hell; and, number two, that there is eternal torment in hell.
16. When the body dies, the worms come and feed upon it. But when the body is consumed, the worms perish. The Bible says in verse 44 that when people are resurrected and cast into the lake of fire, their worms will not die. That is clear language showing that those people’s bodies continue to be physically whole — but forever dying and their bodies never ________________.
17. Mark 9:46 has been totally ______________ in the NIV. “Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched.”
18. This is repeating the same previous verse. When God repeats something, it is because He wants man to ____________________ note that thing.
19. Mark 11:26 has been totally ______________ in the NIV. “But if ye do not forgive, neither will your Father which is in heaven forgive your trespasses.”
20. Satan would love for people to not take this “forgiving others thing” seriously. For he knows that if they do not, then their ____________ lives will be hindered, and he will then be able to accomplish more of his wicked plan.
21. Mark 15:28 has been totally ______________ in the NIV. “And the scripture was fulfilled, which saith, And he was numbered with the transgressors.”
22. The fulfillment of prophecy in Scripture is counted as a very important thing in the Bible. For one thing, it proves the ________________________ character of the Bible.

The Bible is very careful to mention that every last prophecy in Scripture about the cross and Jesus’ life was __________________ before He died — right up to saying, “I thirst.” The NIV translators did not revere the Scripture in that same way, for they took out an entire verse that referenced the fulfillment of prophecy in Jesus’ life.
24. Luke 17:36 has been totally ______________ in the NIV. “Two men shall be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left.”
25. The NIV totally removed verse 36 there, but all three of those verses are important, because they show the different ________ zones that will all be affected when the Lord returns — some will be sleeping; some will be grinding early in the morning; and some will be working during the day in the field.
26. All three verses are also important when considering the responsibilities that all believers have. Two men are going to be in bed when the Lord returns — but only one is going to be prepared for His coming. That one should have warned the other one, instead of taking it for granted that another ______ would come for that. Two women are going to be grinding together, but only one is going to be prepared for the Lord’s coming. You can imagine how they talk while they work, but the one woman should have brought around the conversation to ______________ matters. Women have a responsibility to reach the women that God brings into their realm. And then the NIV removes the entire verse that shows the two men working together in the field. Men often neglect the important responsibility to reach those with whom they ________. Only one man is ready for the Lord’s return, and it happens right while they are at work.
27. Luke 23:17 has been totally ______________ in the NIV “(For of necessity he must release one unto them at the feast.)”
28. With the NIV’s removal of verse 17, verses 18 and 19 would make no sense. “And they cried out all at once, saying, Away with this man, and release unto us Barabbas: (Who for a certain sedition made in the city, and for murder, was cast into prison.).” Why would the people suddenly cry out for a wicked murderer to be released from prison? What did that have to do with Jesus and His case? Absolutely nothing — except for the matter that Pilate was ________________ to release one prisoner at the feast.
29. John 5:4 has been totally ______________ in the NIV. “For an angel went down at a certain season into the pool, and troubled the water: whosoever then first after the troubling of the water stepped in was made whole of whatsoever disease he had.”
30. Apart from the explanation that God was sending an angel to move or trouble the water, what might a person think? That the healing was coming through the water itself? Was it a hot mineral spring? Was it a geyser of some type with special healing abilities? By the NIV totally removing verse 4, people could easily think that people were healed there because of the special __________, instead of through God sending his angel. Satan wants people to look to natural things, instead of to God, for healing.
31. Acts 8:37 has been totally ______________ in the NIV. “And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.”
32. According to the NIV, ______________ hinders a person from getting baptized (because they entirely took away verse 37), so Philip baptized him. But according to the Bible (verse 37), a person cannot get baptized unless he first believes upon the Lord Jesus Christ with all his heart. What is so important about this verse is that it clearly rules out baptizing ____________ — a practice that many of the NIV translators (who were representative of Anglican’s, Lutheran’s, Reformed, Methodist’s, etc.) practice in their churches. Satan wants people to think that if a baby is baptized, he/she will go to heaven. Satan does not want people to know that they must first, personally trust Jesus Christ with all their hearts.
33. Acts 15:34 has been totally ______________ in the NIV. “Notwithstanding it pleased Silas to abide there still.”
34. By Paul and Barnabas being willing to stand upon God’s Word, it not only stopped the false doctrine that some were spreading, but it also ended up being used of God to call out yet another ____________________ — Silas. Would that not be exciting, to think that God used you to __________________ a person to give his life full-time to missions? You do not get that example in the NIV, because the translators took this entire verse out of the Bible.
35. Acts 24:7 has been totally ______________ in the NIV. “But the chief captain Lysias came upon us, and with great violence took him away out of our hands.”
36. The verse that the NIV has totally removed shows that the Jews are __________ about what really happened. It was not Lysias that came upon them with great violence, but they themselves that came upon Paul with great violence.
37. Acts 28:29 has been totally ______________ in the NIV. “And when he had said these words, the Jews departed, and had great reasoning among themselves.”
38. Many times when we witness to the lost, we may think that they discount what we say and think that it all sounds ridiculous. But if we only knew what they were really ________________ after they have heard the Word of God, we would sometimes be greatly encouraged to see how the Holy Spirit is indeed working in their hearts. But you would not get that encouragement from the NIV in this passage, because they removed this entire verse. That is Satan’s goal, to discourage people from witnessing, and to make them think that no one is really taking anything that they say very __________________.
39. Romans 16:24 has been totally ______________ in the NIV. “The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.”
40. In Colossians 1:14, the NIV removed the missing words below: “In whom we have redemption ______________   ______   __________, even the forgiveness of sins:”
41. This was not a change to update Old English. Who does not understand the word blood? This is clearly the work of __________ — as he begins the gradual process of removing key things from the Scriptures.

Are you certain that if you died today, you would go to heaven?

1. Do you realize that you have sinned?

(Romans 3:23)  “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.”

(1 John 1:8)   “If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.”

(Ecclesiastes 7:20)   “For there is not a just man upon earth, that doeth good, and sinneth not.”

 

2. Do you realize the penalty for your sin?

(Romans 6:23)   “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”

 

3. Do you realize that if you die in your sin, you will go to hell?

(Psalms 9:17)   “The wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the nations that forget God.”

(Proverbs 15:24)   “The way of life is above to the wise, that he may depart from hell beneath.”

(Luke 12:4-5)   “And I say unto you my friends, Be not afraid of them that kill the body, and after that have no more that they can do.   But I will forewarn you whom ye shall fear: Fear him, which after he hath killed hath power to cast into hell; yea, I say unto you, Fear him.”

 

4. Do you realize that the Lord Jesus Christ, God in the flesh, paid that death penalty for you?

(Matthew 1:21-23)    “And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.    Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying,     Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.”

(John 14:6-7)    “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.   If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him.”

(John 3:16)    “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

(Romans 5:8)   “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”

(1 Peter 3:18)   “For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit.”

(1 Peter 2:24)   “Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.”

 

5. Do you realize that it is only through the shed blood of the Lord Jesus Christ that you can be saved, and not through any good works of your own?

(1 John 1:7)   “But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.”

(1 Peter 1:18-19)   “Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers;    But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot.”

(Ephesians 2:8-9)   “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:    Not of works, lest any man should boast.”

(Titus 3:5-7)   “Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;   Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour;   That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.”

 

6. Do you realize that after Jesus died for your sins, He arose victorious from the grave the third day, proving that His sacrifice was sufficient to pay for all of the sins of the whole world?

(1 Corinthians 15:1-4)    “Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;   By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.    For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;   And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures.”

 

7. Do you realize that to be saved you must repent (you must have the desire to turn from your sin and false beliefs, and have the desire for God to transform your life)?

(Luke 13:3)   “I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.”

(Acts 3:19)   “Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord.”

(Acts 26:20)   “But shewed first unto them of Damascus, and at Jerusalem, and throughout all the coasts of Judaea, and then to the Gentiles, that they should repent and turn to God, and do works meet for repentance.”

(Mark 9:43-48)   “And if thy hand offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter into life maimed, than having two hands to go into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched:   Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched.   And if thy foot offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter halt into life, than having two feet to be cast into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched:   Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched.   And if thine eye offend thee, pluck it out: it is better for thee to enter into the kingdom of God with one eye, than having two eyes to be cast into hell fire:   Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched.”

 

8. Do you realize that after you get saved, God’s first command for you is to get baptized and then to live for Him?

(Acts 2:41)   “Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls.”

(Romans 6:1-4)   “What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?   God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?   Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?    Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.”

(2 Corinthians 5:17)    “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.”

(Titus 3:3-8)   “For we ourselves also were sometimes foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving divers lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another.   But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared,   Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;   Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour;   That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.   This is a faithful saying, and these things I will that thou affirm constantly, that they which have believed in God might be careful to maintain good works. These things are good and profitable unto men.”

(Titus 2:11-14)    “For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men,   Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;   Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;   Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.”

(1 Corinthians 6:9-11)   “Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind,   Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.   And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.”

(Galatians 5:19-26)   “Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,   Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,   Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.   But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,    Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.   And they that are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.   If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.   Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another.”

(1 Corinthians 11:14-15)   “Doth not even nature itself teach you, that, if a man have long hair, it is a shame unto him?    But if a woman have long hair, it is a glory to her: for her hair is given her for a covering.”

(Deuteronomy 22:5)   “The woman shall not wear that which pertaineth unto a man, neither shall a man put on a woman’s garment: for all that do so are abomination unto the LORD thy God.”

(Ephesians 4:22-32)   “That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts;   And be renewed in the spirit of your mind;   And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.    Wherefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbour: for we are members one of another.   Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath:   Neither give place to the devil.   Let him that stole steal no more: but rather let him labour, working with his hands the thing which is good, that he may have to give to him that needeth.   Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.   And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.   Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice:    And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.”

 

9. Are you ready to now ask the Lord Jesus Christ to forgive you of all your sins, and to save you?

(John 1:12)   “But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name.”

(Romans 10:9-11)   “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.   For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.    For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.”

(Romans 10:13)   “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”

(1 John 5:13)   “These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.”

 

 

ATTENTION:    If you die before you make this decision, then you will spend eternity in the torment of hell fire.  Turn from your wickedness and sin, and humble yourself before Almighty God right now.

Bow your head right now and confess to God that you are a sinner deserving judgment.  Ask the Lord Jesus Christ to forgive you of all your sins, and to save you.  Tell Him that you now repent, and ask Him to cleanse your life, and to give you the power to live for Him.  Tell Him that you are trusting in His shed blood alone to cleanse you from all your sin.  Ask Him to lead you to a good, Bible-preaching church, where you can follow the first command after salvation — that of getting baptized and publicly confessing your faith in Him.  Ask Him to help you find some good Christian friends to encourage you in the faith and to help you grow.
