Chapter 2

II. The Symbol Used On The New King James Version.

Note:   The publisher of the NKJV used a three-cornered symbol on this translation. On some editions, the symbol is printed right on the cover. In others, the symbol appears inside on the title page. Here is what Thomas Nelson says about it. “Title Page Logo: The triquetra (from a Latin word meaning “three-cornered”) is an ancient symbol for the Trinity. It comprises three interwoven arcs, distinct yet equal and inseparable, symbolizing that the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are three distinct yet equal Persons and indivisibly One God.” (Thomas Nelson Publishers) Is the triquetra an ancient symbol? Yes, but the question is, “What does it really represent?”

A triquetra is found on the front and back covers of a book called,

The Craft, A Witches Book of Shadows, by Dorothy Morrison.

It says on the cover that it: "Includes Rituals, Spells, and Wiccan Ethics."

Morrison writes, “Like Christians, we believe in the Triad of Divinity, but there’s a bit of a twist here. Since Wicca is a matriarchal religion, we worship the Triple Goddess; more specifically, the Goddess in her phases of Maiden, Mother, and Crone.” (The Craft, A Witches Book Of Shadows, page 4) She continues, “Wicca is an Earth religion… We live in harmony with Nature, and believe that all things — even inanimate objects such as stones — have a life and spirit and purpose equal to our own. We don’t believe in… sin, or hell, or fire and brimstone.” (The Craft, A Witches Book Of Shadows, page 5)

A triquetra was also a symbol featured on an occult television drama called Charmed.

“Triquetra — Three-pointed symbol seen hanging from the cat's collar and on the Book of Shadows on the occult drama CHARMED/WB/1998+. The Triquetra or "Trinity Knot". was used in pre-Christian times by the Celts to represent the triple goddess (Maiden, Mother and Crone).” (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Triquetra)

The triquetra has also been used by the rock band Led Zeppelin.

“The same symbol (with a circle) is displayed by the rock group Led Zeppelin. Members of Led Zeppelin are deeply involved in satanism and the occult.” (http://www.av1611.org/nkjv.html) In regard to the circle used with some triquetras, that fits right in with witchcraft. “In Wicca and other pagan traditions, there exists a practice known as casting a circle. Circle casting is generally done with salt, crystals, candles or other purifying materials, and requires special rituals to be considered effective. By tracing a circle the practitioner consecrates an area within it for either temporary or permanent protection. This circle affords those within it to carry out magical rituals or spells without interference. This circle is also believed to be an area which straddles two dimensions or realities. It becomes a sacred space between the mundane world and the otherside. Also known as the ‘veil between worlds.’” (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magic_circle_%28Wicca%29)

Does it not seem strange that a Bible publisher would take a symbol which is used

so openly and frequently by satanic groups, and display it on the

cover or title page of their translation of the Bible?

1. Deuteronomy 12:2-4 says, “Ye shall utterly ______________ all the places, wherein the nations which ye shall possess served their gods, upon the high mountains, and upon the hills, and under every green tree: And ye shall overthrow their altars, and break their pillars, and burn their groves with fire; and ye shall hew down the graven ____________ of their gods, and destroy the names of them out of that place. Ye shall not do so unto the LORD your God.” 2. 1 Thessalonians 5:22 says, “Abstain from all ____________________ of ________.”

Note:   The triquetra certainly has the appearance of evil. If it had an appearance associated strongly with good, then witches, satanic rock bands, and occult television programs would not be commonly using the symbol.
