Welcome to Book 5 in the Examining Bible Translations series of the Liberty Bible Course. This booklet deals with Part 3 of the examination of the New International Version (NIV). This study is written to be used with the King James Version (KJV) of the Bible, otherwise your answers are going to be incorrect. #9 — Mark 6:11

KJV (King James Version)    –   “And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear you, when ye depart thence, shake off the dust under your feet for a testimony against them. Verily I say unto you, It shall be ________   __________________ for Sodom and Gomorrha in the day of judgment, than for that city.”

NIV (New International Version)    –   “And if any place will not welcome you or listen to you, shake the dust off your feet when you leave, as a testimony against them.”

NWT (New World Translation — Jehovah’s Witnesses)   –   “And wherever a place will not receive YOU nor hear YOU, on going out from there shake off the dirt that is beneath YOUR feet for a witness to them.”

 

It is interesting to note how the NIV leaves out the same 23 words as did the

Jehovah’s Witnesses. Does that not alarm Christians, that the NIV follows the same

course as the Jehovah’s Witnesses? The Jehovah’s Witnesses started out using the

King James Version, and then translated their own version to match their perverted doctrine.

If the NIV agrees much of the time with the changes that the Jehovah’s Witnesses made,

should that not tell you something? Was there another agenda in the background of the NIV?

Removing 23 words from the text of Scripture is not updating Old English words.

 

Note:   These 23 words are important to help us understand how and why people are judged according to their works at the Great White Throne Judgment.

    1. Revelation 20:11-15 says, “And I saw a __________   __________   ____________, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them. And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were ____________ out of those things which were written in the books, __________________ to their __________. And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were ____________ every man __________________ to their __________. And death and hell were cast into the ________ of ________. This is the second death. And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the ________ of ________.”

Note:   Why are works the basis of this judgment? We are not saved by works.

    2. John 3:18 says, “He that __________________ on him is ______   __________________: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.”
3. Titus 3:4-6 says, “But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared, ______ by __________ of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he __________ us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost; Which he shed on us abundantly through __________ Christ our ______________.”

 

The Great White Throne Judgment is not to determine whether a person is saved or lost

— only lost people appear at that judgment. The purpose of that judgment is to determine the

degree of torment  that a person will suffer for all of eternity. That is why it is determined by a

person’s works. Each person will receive the EXACT DEGREE of punishment that he/she deserves.

 

    4. Revelation 18:6-7 says, “Reward her even as she rewarded you, and double unto her double __________________ to her __________: in the cup which she hath filled fill to her double. How much she hath glorified herself, and lived deliciously, so ________  ______________ and sorrow give her: for she saith in her heart, I sit a queen, and am no widow, and shall see no sorrow.”
5. Matthew 11:21-24 says, “Woe unto thee, Chorazin! woe unto thee, Bethsaida! for if the mighty works, which were done in you, had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes. But I say unto you, It shall be ________   __________________ for Tyre and Sidon at the ______ of ________________, than for you. And thou, Capernaum, which art exalted unto heaven, shalt be brought down to hell: for if the mighty works, which have been done in thee, had been done in Sodom, it would have remained until this day. But I say unto you, That it shall be ________   __________________ for the land of Sodom in the ______ of ________________, than for thee.”
6. Luke 12:45-48 says, “But and if that servant say in his heart, My lord delayeth his coming; and shall begin to beat the menservants and maidens, and to eat and drink, and to be drunken; The lord of that servant will come in a day when he looketh not for him, and at an hour when he is not aware, and will cut him in sunder, and will appoint him his portion with the unbelievers. And that servant, which ________ his lord’s ________, and prepared not himself, neither did according to his will, shall be ____________ with ________ stripes. But he that ________   ______, and did commit things worthy of stripes, shall be ____________ with ______ stripes. For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required: and to whom men have committed much, of him they will ask the more.”

Note:   When the NIV took off those last 23 words of that verse: (Mark 6:11, “And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear you, when ye depart thence, shake off the dust under your feet for a testimony against them. Verily I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for Sodom and Gomorrha in the day of judgment, than for that city.”), they removed a very important part of the verse in teaching people the fear of the Lord to bring them to repentance.

 

Imagine if people really realized that if they are unwilling to receive us

and let us give them the gospel; and if they then die, that their torment

in the lake of fire will be worse than the people from Sodom and Gomorrah?

 

Sadly, Lot never tried to warn the people there until it was too late, and the night of judgment was upon them. In that night, he then tried to warn his sons-in-law to get up and leave the city, but such last-minute, frantic warnings were looked upon as foolish by them.

    7. Genesis 19:14 says, “And ______ went out, and spake unto his ________   ____    ______, which married his daughters, and said, ____, get you ______ of this place; for the LORD will ______________ this city. But he seemed as one that ____________ unto his sons in law.”

Note:   Lot had been grieved, deep down inside, for all of the years that he had been living in Sodom, because of the great wickedness there.

    8.    2 Peter 2:6-8 says, “And turning the cities of __________ and Gomorrha into __________ condemned them with an overthrow, making them an ensample unto those that after should live ungodly; And delivered just Lot, __________ with the ____________ conversation of the wicked: (For that righteous man _______________   __________ them, in ____________ and ______________, vexed his righteous soul from ______ to ______ with their unlawful deeds;)”

Note:   Why did Lot ever stay there, when their sin grieved him so much? Just one thing kept him there — easy money.

    9. Genesis 13:8-13 says, “And Abram said unto Lot, Let there be no strife, I pray thee, between me and thee, and between my herdmen and thy herdmen; for we be brethren. Is not the whole land before thee? separate thyself, I pray thee, from me: if thou wilt take the left hand, then I will go to the right; or if thou depart to the right hand, then I will go to the left. And Lot lifted up his eyes, and beheld all the __________ of Jordan, that it was ________    ______________ every where, before the LORD destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah, even as the garden of the LORD, like the land of Egypt, as thou comest unto Zoar. Then ______   __________ him ______ the __________ of Jordan; and Lot journeyed east: and they separated themselves the one from the other. Abram dwelled in the land of Canaan, and Lot dwelled in the cities of the plain, and pitched his tent toward Sodom. But the men of Sodom were ____________ and ______________ before the LORD exceedingly.”

Note:   The bottom line was selfishness on the part of Lot. He chose the easiest place to make money when your business is cattle — the well-watered plain. He made that decision, despite the fact that it was well known that the men of Sodom were wicked and sinners exceedingly. So Lot did not warn the people of Sodom that they needed to repent.

 

What about the NIV? It has removed these 23 words from this verse,

and is thereby not warning people that if they reject people who

are trying to give them the gospel, that they will have more torment

in the lake of fire than the wicked sinners of Sodom.

 

#14 — 1 John 4:3

KJV (King James Version)    –   “And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come ____   ______   __________ is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.”

NIV (New International Version)    –   “But every spirit that does not acknowledge Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you have heard is coming and even now is already in the world.”

Note:   This is the second verse that we have dealt with this same exact matter. They have totally removed the fact, once again, that Jesus Christ CAME IN THE FLESH. If anyone denies this fact, then the verse is clear that he “is not of God.” If anyone denies that Jesus Christ came in the flesh, then that is “that spirit of antichrist,” according to the above verse.

 

The NIV translators removed this extremely important teaching here in this verse once again.

Was this decision to remove it of the Holy Spirit, or of the spirit of antichrist?

The verse itself tells you — it was of the spirit of antichrist.

 

#15 — Psalms 12:6, 7

KJV (King James Version)    –   “The __________ of the LORD are ________ words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. Thou shalt ________ them, O LORD, thou shalt ________________ them from this generation for ________.”

NIV (New International Version)    –   “And the words of the Lord are flawless, like silver refined in a furnace of clay, purified seven times. O Lord, you will keep us safe and protect us from such people forever.”

 

They changed the promise of preservation to refer to people, instead of to the Word of God.

 

Note:    Remember all of those verses we mentioned (136 of them) in the NIV where they removed the name of God (God, Jesus, Christ, Lord, Holy Spirit, etc.), and they replaced the name with a pronoun? Here is a good case to show how it is easier to twist the meaning of a passage or misinterpret it by the use of pronouns.  The NIV translators did not use the normal antecedent rule in this case, but totally skipped over verse 6, and tried to twist the previous verses to refer to people instead of to words.
Antecedent = “a substantive word, phrase, or clause whose denotation is referred to by a pronoun (as John in ‘Mary saw John and called to him’)” (Merriam-Webster’s 11th Collegiate Dictionary)  But notice that even the previous verses are emphasizing words.

    1. Psalms 12:1-2 says, “Help, LORD; for the godly man ceaseth; for the faithful fail from among the children of men.  They __________ vanity every one with his neighbour: with flattering ________ and with a double heart do they __________.”
2. Psalms 12:3-5 says, “The LORD shall ______  ______ all flattering ________, and the ____________ that speaketh proud things: Who have said, With our tongue will we prevail; our lips are our own: who is lord over us? For the oppression of the poor, for the sighing of the needy, now will I arise, saith the LORD; I will set him in safety from him that ______________ at him.”

Note:   How were the wicked being exalted? Through their words. So the Lord will deal with those wicked people. How? “The LORD shall CUT OFF all flattering LIPS, and the TONGUE that SPEAKETH proud things.”

 

It then contrasts God’s pure Word (that which will be preserved forever),

with the words of the wicked (those words which God will cut off).

 

As long as the wicked are allowed to speak, the next verse tells us what happens.

    3. Psalms 12:8 says, “The ______________   ________ on __________ side, when the vilest men are exalted.”

Note:   Satan is subtle, but his work is clearly seen here. He will use even Scripture, just like the cults do, when he can twist it to his own liking. He did that with the Lord Jesus Christ.

    4. Matthew 4:5-7 says, “Then the __________ taketh him up into the holy city, and setteth him on a pinnacle of the temple, And saith unto him, If thou be the Son of God, ________ thyself ________: for it is ______________, He shall give his ____________ charge concerning thee: and in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone. Jesus said unto him, It is written again, Thou shalt not __________ the Lord thy God.”

Note:   God never promised that He would have His angels protect us, if we do foolish things just to see if they will come to our rescue.

Note:   Satan has corrupted the sacred text of Scripture here in regard to a clear promise that God has preserved His precious Word for every generation.
“The translators of the NIV numbered more than 100. They represented more than 20 denominations (Anglican, Assemblies of God, Baptist, Brethren, Christian Reformed, Church of Christ, Evangelical Free, Lutheran, Mennonite, Methodist, Nazarene, Presbyterian, Wesleyan and other churches) helped to safeguard the translation from sectarian bias.” (www.ibs.org, International Bible Society).   What does sectarian bias mean? What it really means is that by having so many denominations represented, it guaranteed great compromise when translating the text. Is it any wonder that they left out the entire verse of Acts 8:37?

    5. Acts 8:36-38 says, “And as they went on their way, they came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, here is water; ________ doth ____________ me to be ________________? And Philip said, ____ thou __________________ with all thine heart, thou ____________. And he answered and said, I ________________ that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. And he commanded the chariot to stand still: and they went down both into the water, both Philip and the eunuch; and he baptized him.”

Note:   Read verse 36, and then jump to verse 38. “What doth hinder me to be baptized?” Nothing hinders anyone from getting baptized, according to the NIV.
Now read all three verses in the KJV. There is something that hinders a person from being baptized — that person must first believe on the Lord Jesus Christ as his/her personal Savior.

 

Here is a clear example of the problem of so many denominations being represented on the

translation committee. Most denominations baptize babies, which verse 37 clearly proves is wrong.

A baby cannot believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and give clear confession of such, because a baby

cannot yet understand those things. So what did the translators do? They simply removed the entire

verse (verse 37). Does that protect people from sectarian bias? No, what it does is guarantee sectarian

bias — it now guarantees that certain unscriptural sects can go on baptizing babies against what the

Scripture clearly teaches. And people who use the NIV will not be able to prove them wrong from this passage.

 

Note:    Sometimes people who hold fast to the King James Bible as the pure Word of God without error, are accused of being in a cult. What is a cult? A cult is a group of people that blindly follow man — not the Word of God. The King James crowd is not a cult. They are simply holding fast to what God has promised in His Word. If anyone is part of a cult between these two groups (the NIV verses the KJV), it is the NIV crowd. They are blindly following men who are butchering the Word of God, and all the while these people are defending their actions.

 

It is noble Christians (not cultists), who demand that all teaching submit to the authority

of God’s Word. It is the cultists who allow the word of their leaders to become the authority.

If you can be confronted with the fact that the translators of the NIV removed Acts 8:37, and you

still defend the NIV, its translators, and the pastors that use it, then you are the one that is

cultish.   You are willing to follow man over the authority of what God has said.

 

    6. Acts 17:11 says, “These were more __________ than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all __________________ of mind, and ________________ the scriptures __________, whether those things were ____.”

#16 — 2 Timothy 2:15

KJV (King James Version)    –   “__________ to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.”

NIV (New International Version)    –   “Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a workman who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth.”

NWT (New World Translation — Jehovah’s Witnesses)   –   “Do your utmost to present yourself approved to God, a workman with nothing to be ashamed of, handling the word of the truth aright.”

Note:   What is so hard to understand about the word study? Is that an Old English word? The translators of the NIV followed the Jehovah’s Witnesses with the same thought.    The word study means, “a careful examination or analysis” (Merriam-Webster’s 11th Collegiate Dictionary).   People are prone to give excuses when they do not do well on a test. They may say that they “did their best” or “did their utmost,” but the fact remains that many times they did not really study the material — they did not do “a careful examination or analysis” of the material.

 

The word study   did not need to be changed in the text — it simply needed

to be obeyed.   It is not a lack of understanding  that is the problem here.

The problem here is a lack of ambition  on the part of many people.

 

    1. Ecclesiastes 12:12 says, “And further, by these, my son, be admonished: of making many books there is no end; and much __________ is a __________________ of the flesh.”
2. Acts 17:11 says, “These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and ________________ the scriptures __________, whether those things were so.”

 

 

#17 — John 3:13

KJV (King James Version)    –   “And no man hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, even the Son of man which is ____    ____________.”

NIV (New International Version)    –   “No one has ever gone into heaven except the one who came from heaven—the Son of Man.”

NWT (New World Translation — Jehovah’s Witnesses)   –   “Moreover, no man has ascended into heaven but he that descended from heaven, the Son of man.”

Note:   How can any honest Christian defend what the NIV translators have done? The Jehovah’s Witnesses do not believe that Jesus is God Almighty, that is why they removed those four words “which is in heaven.” Why did the NIV translators remove those same four words?

 

What is the importance of those four words? They prove that Jesus is not just “a god”

upon earth, but the Almighty God which is present everywhere in heaven and earth.

No one can be present on earth and in heaven at the same time, unless that one is God Almighty.

 

This is an attribute that only God possesses — omnipresence. The prefix omni means “all.” So God is all present (all places at once).

    1. Psalms 139:7-12 says, “Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy ________________? If I ascend up into ____________, thou art __________: if I make my bed in ________, behold, thou art __________. If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the ______; Even __________ shall thy hand lead me, and thy right hand shall hold me. If I say, Surely the darkness shall cover me; even the night shall be light about me. Yea, the darkness hideth not from thee; but the night shineth as the day: the darkness and the light are both alike to thee.”
2. Proverbs 15:3 says, “The eyes of the LORD are in __________    __________, beholding the evil and the good.”
3. Jeremiah 23:24 says, “Can any ________ himself in secret places that I shall not ______ him? saith the LORD. Do not I ________ heaven and earth? saith the LORD.”

Note:   A common argument of those who use the modern translations is, “But the changes they make do not affect any doctrines.” We have seen that is not a true statement at all. Remember Acts 8:37?  This is another critical change that they have made here in this verse, because there are groups out there that teach that when Jesus came to earth, He had to give up certain of His attributes of being God Almighty. That is not true. Jesus was always fully God Almighty as He walked upon earth. He was fully God and fully man. While He was here on earth, he was also in heaven.

    4. Matthew 1:23 says, “Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, ______   ________ ____.”
5. John 1:14 says, “And the ________ was made __________, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his __________, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.”
6. John 14:7-9 says, “If ye had known ____, ye should have known my ____________ also: and from henceforth ye ________ him, and have ________ him. Philip saith unto him, Lord, shew us the Father, and it sufficeth us. Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen ____ hath seen the ____________; and how sayest thou then, Shew us the Father?”

 

#18 — Acts 3:26

KJV (King James Version)    –   “Unto you first God, having raised up his ______ Jesus, sent him to bless you, in turning away every one of you from his iniquities.”

NIV (New International Version)    –   “When God raised up his servant, he sent him first to you to bless you by turning each of you from your wicked ways.”

Note:    Remember what we saw when dealing with the New King James Version? The resurrection deals with power — not servitude.

    1.    1 Corinthians 15:42-43 says, “So also is the ________________________ of the dead. It is sown in corruption; it is raised in ________________________: It is sown in dishonour; it is raised in __________: it is sown in weakness; it is raised in __________.”

Note:   The word son has not changed to servant. That is not an Old English word that needs updating. A son has full rights and authority, but a servant does not.

 

The resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ does not give a

picture of servant hood, but of great authority and power.

 

    2. Romans 1:3-4 says, “Concerning his ______ Jesus Christ our Lord, which was made of the seed of David according to the flesh; And declared to be the ______ of God with __________, according to the spirit of holiness, by the ________________________ from the dead.”

 

#19 — Heb. 3:15-17

KJV (King James Version)    –   “While it is said, To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts, as in the provocation.    For ________, when they had heard, did provoke: howbeit ______   ______ that came out of Egypt by Moses.    But with whom was he grieved forty years? was it not with them that had sinned, whose carcases fell in the wilderness?”

NIV (New International Version)    –   “As has just been said: “Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts as you did in the rebellion.”     Who were they who heard and rebelled? Were they not all those Moses led out of Egypt?    And with whom was he angry for forty years? Was it not with those who sinned, whose bodies fell in the desert?”

NWT (New World Translation — Jehovah’s Witnesses)   –   “While it is being said: “Today if YOU people listen to his own voice, do not harden YOUR hearts as on the occasion of causing bitter anger.”    For who were they that heard and yet provoked to bitter anger? Did not, in fact, all do so who went out of Egypt under Moses?    Moreover, with whom did [God] become disgusted for forty years? Was it not with those who sinned, whose carcasses fell in the wilderness?”

Note:   Once again, the NIV translators followed the Jehovah’s Witnesses in their change, and have made a clear contradiction in the Bible because of it.
The KJV says some that came out of Egypt provoked the Lord, but not all (not everyone). The NIV and the NWT give a question, “Who rebelled or provoked the Lord? Was it not all (everyone) that Moses led out of Egypt?”

    1. Numbers 14:6-9 says, “And ____________ the son of Nun, and __________ the son of Jephunneh, which were of them that searched the land, rent their clothes: And they spake unto all the company of the children of Israel, saying, The land, which we passed through to search it, is an exceeding good land. If the LORD delight in us, then he will bring us into this land, and give it us; a land which floweth with milk and honey. Only __________  ______ ye against the LORD, neither fear ye the people of the land; for they are bread for us: their defence is departed from them, and the LORD is with us: fear them not.”
2. Joshua 14:7-9 says, “Forty years old was I when __________ the servant of the LORD sent me from Kadeshbarnea to espy out the land; and I brought him word again as it was in mine heart. Nevertheless my brethren that went up with me made the heart of the people melt: but I ____________  ________________ the LORD my God. And Moses sware on that day, saying, Surely the land whereon thy feet have trodden shall be thine inheritance, and thy children’s for ever, because thou hast ____________   ________________ the LORD my God.”

 

The little children who have paid attention in Sunday School could tell you

that the NIV has made a false statement here. They know that not everyone

who came out of Egypt rebelled — they know that Joshua and Caleb did not.

#20 — Heb. 2:16

KJV (King James Version)    –   “For verily he took not on him the ____________ of angels; but he took on him the seed of Abraham.”

NIV (New International Version)    –   “For surely it is not angels he helps, but Abraham’s descendants.”

NWT (New World Translation — Jehovah’s Witnesses)   –   “For he is really not assisting angels at all, but he is assisting Abraham’s seed.”

Note:   This is but another example of how the translators of the NIV have corrupted verses that deal with the deity and humanity of the Lord Jesus Christ. This verse clearly teaches that Jesus did not come to earth as an angelic being.

 

We can understand the Jehovah’s Witnesses wanting to change this passage,

because they do not accept that the Lord Jesus Christ, God Almighty, came in the

flesh to redeem man-kind. The Jehovah’s Witnesses say, “The foremost angel,

both in power and authority is the archangel, Jesus Christ, also called Michael.”

What the translators of the NIV have done here is help or assist the cults in their false teaching.

 

Note:   This was not an update of archaic words, but a total change in meaning; proving, once again, that the NIV translators were not just translating the Bible to update Old English words.   By making this change, the NIV translators have made another error and have made a false statement. They have stated that God does not help angels. That is not true. God does help angels, or angels would be unable to do anything. Angels are not omnipotent (the prefix omni means “all,” and the word potent means “power” —all powerful) beings. They depend upon God for their strength, just like we do.

    1. Jude 1:9 says, “Yet Michael the __________________, when ____________________ with the devil he disputed about the body of Moses, durst not bring against him a railing accusation, but said, The ________ rebuke thee.”

Note:   We find here that Michael the archangel was disputing with the devil about the body of Moses. Michael did NOT try to REBUKE the devil in his own power, but called upon the Lord to do it, “The Lord rebuke thee.”  God does give help to His angels, or they would have no power. The NIV translators have made an absolutely false statement here.

    2. Revelation 15:7 says, “And one of the four beasts gave unto the seven ____________ seven golden vials full of the wrath of ______, who liveth for ever and ever.”

Note:   It is not the wrath of these angels that is being poured out upon earth. The angels are simply the means by which God is delivering His wrath upon earth.

    3. Hebrews 2:5 says, “For unto the ____________ hath he not put in subjection the __________ to come, whereof we speak.?”

Note:   The angels are not in charge of the world to come. They are subject to God’s will and His power.

    4. Psalms 103:20, 21 says, “Bless the LORD, ye his ____________, that excel in strength, that do his ________________________, hearkening unto the voice of his ________. Bless ye the LORD, all ye his hosts; ye ministers of his, that do his ________________.”

Note:    Angels are not all-powerful. They cannot fulfill God’s pleasure by their own power, but only by being helped or given power by God to fulfill such tasks.
The NIV translators have made a serious error here, and also aided the Jehovah’s Witness false doctrine.

 

#21 — Isaiah 14:12-15

KJV (King James Version)    –   “How art thou fallen from heaven, O ______________, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations!    For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north:    I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High.    Yet thou shalt be brought down to ________, to the sides of the pit.”

NIV (New International Version)    –   “How you have fallen from heaven, O morning star, son of the dawn! You have been cast down to the earth, you who once laid low the nations!    You said in your heart, “I will ascend to heaven; I will raise my throne above the stars of God; I will sit enthroned on the mount of assembly, on the utmost heights of the sacred mountain.    I will ascend above the tops of the clouds; I will make myself like the Most High.”    But you are brought down to the grave, to the depths of the pit.”

Note:   The NIV translators took away the name Lucifer, and replaced it with the title morning star. Is there anything wrong with that? Yes, there is something dreadfully wrong with that.

    1. Revelation 22:16 says, “I __________ have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. __   ____   ______ root and the offspring of David, and the bright and ______________   ________.”

 

Has Lucifer now become the Savior of the world who is worthy to be worshipped?

No, but that is exactly what he is going to set himself up as in the Tribulation Period,

and will cause all to receive his mark and will demand that all worship him.

 

    2.    2 Thessalonians 2:3-4 says, “Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of ______ be revealed, the son of perdition; Who opposeth and ________________   ______________ above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that ____ as God sitteth in the ____________ of God, shewing himself that he is God.”
3. Revelation 13:11-12 says, “And I beheld another beast coming up out of the earth; and he had two horns like a lamb, and he spake as a ____________. And he exerciseth all the power of the first beast before him, and causeth the earth and them which dwell therein to ______________ the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed.”

Note:   Satan is a god — a false god, and he has deceived many. The NIV translators certainly have helped his cause by removing the name Lucifer, and replacing it with morning star.

    4.    2 Corinthians 4:3-4 says, “But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are ________: In whom the ______ of this world hath ______________ the __________ of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.”

 

To further the weakening and corrupting of this passage,

the NIV translators changed the word hell  to the word grave.

KJV (King James Version)    –   “Yet thou shalt be brought down to ________, to the sides of the pit.”

NIV (New International Version)    –   “But you are brought down to the grave, to the depths of the pit.”

 

Is that the end of Lucifer — the grave? No, the end

of Lucifer is the torment of hell — the Lake of Fire.

 

    5. Matthew 25:41 says, “Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into ______________________   ________, prepared for the __________ and his angels.”
6. Revelation 20:10 says, “And the __________ that deceived them was cast into the ________ of ________ and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be __________________ day and night for ________ and ________.”

Note:  How can any Christian maintain that the NIV translators have not affected any doctrine by their changes to the text? They take away one of Satan’s names (Lucifer), and replace it with a title used of the Lord Jesus Christ (morning star); then they change the end of Satan to being cast into the grave, instead of being cast into hell.

 

How can Christians defend such men as the NIV translators, and at the same time

erupt violently against people who point out these errors and stand faithfully

upon the KJV text? Something is wrong in the heart of such a person.

 

    7. Isaiah 5:20 says, “______ unto them that call evil ________, and good ________; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!”

KJV (King James Version)    –   “And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every ________ of ______.”

NIV (New International Version)    –  “Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man does not live on bread alone.’”

NWT (New World Translation — Jehovah’s Witnesses)   –   “But Jesus replied to him: “It is written, ‘Man must not live by bread alone.’”

Note:   The NIV translators followed the lead of the Jehovah’s Witnesses, and removed the last six words of the verse “but by every word of God.”
Man knows that he does not live by bread alone, but the NIV and the NWT do not tell him what he does need to live eternally — the Word of God.

    1. 1 Peter 1:23 says, “Being ________  __________, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the ________ of ______, which liveth and abideth for ever.”
2. Romans 10:17 says, “So then __________ cometh by hearing, and hearing by the ________ of ______.”

Man knows that he has an appetite, but he does not know

what will really satisfy it. He will only find the answer in the Word of God,

and the NIV translators left off those last six words telling him that.

#23 — Titus 3:10-11

KJV (King James Version)    –   “A man that is an ________________ after the first and second admonition reject; Knowing that he that is such is subverted, and sinneth, being condemned of himself.”

NIV (New International Version)   –   “Warn a divisive person once, and then warn him a second time. After that, have nothing to do with him.   You may be sure that such a man is warped and sinful; he is self-condemned.”

Note:   Does heretick and divisive mean the same thing?   No.  The word heretic means, “a dissenter from established religious dogma; one who dissents from an accepted belief or doctrine” (Merriam-Webster’s 11th Collegiate Dictionary).   The word divisive means “creating disunity or dissension” (Merriam-Webster’s 11th Collegiate Dictionary).  Why has the modern church succumbed to so many doctrinal errors? To a great extent, because of translations like the NIV. It is no longer doctrinal error that is the bad thing that must be dealt with or removed. The real culprit is the person who causes disunity in the church.

 

The practical result of the wording change in that verse is that Delilah  gets up and sings

a special number that has a rock beat in it.  After the service, David  takes aside the Music Director

and privately states his concern over the song that was sung by Delilah, when compared with

Ephesians 5:19 (psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs). On Monday evening, David receives a call

from the Music Director stating that the Pastor and himself want to have a meeting with David

in regard to this matter. At the meeting, David is rebuked for being critical of Delilah’s music,

and is told that all music is neutral.   He is warned that the real danger is not the type

of music being used, but the people who create disunity  over it, because it does not

happen to be the style of music that they personally enjoy.

 

This change that the NIV has made to this verse becomes deadly to a church, because it makes the real enemy disunity — not doctrinal error. Now, anyone who dares to say that something is not scripturally right, is accused of creating disunity in the church.

    1. John 3:16 says, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever __________________ in him should not ____________, but have everlasting ________.”

Note:   That used to be the most well-known Bible verse in the world. We are now told that that is no longer the case, but that it has been replaced by the following verse.

    2. Matthew 7:1 says, “__________   ______, that ye be not judged.”

Note:   It is important to note that Matthew chapter 7 does not forbid all judging, but warns about judging others when you are not willing to judge sin in your own life.

    3. Matthew 7:3-5 says, “And why beholdest thou the ________ that is in thy ________________ eye, but considerest not the ________ that is in thine ______ eye? Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye? Thou hypocrite, __________ cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and ________ shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother’s eye.”

 

Do you see how the context of that passage does not forbid all judging, but is warning us to judge sin

in our own lives first?   When we have our lives in order, then we are to go to our brother about his problem.

 

    4. Galatians 5:11 says, “And I, brethren, if I yet preach circumcision, why do I yet suffer persecution? then is the ______________ of the __________ ceased.”

Note:   Just witness to lost people about the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be accused of being divisive. Whenever people are brought under conviction, they accuse the one instrumental in it of being divisive. Consider carefully what Jesus said.

    5. Matthew 10:34-39 says, “Think ______ that I am come to send __________ on earth: I came not to send peace, but a __________. For I am come to set a man at ______________ against his father, and the daughter ______________ her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law. And a man’s ________ shall be they of his own household. He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me. And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me. He that findeth his life shall lose it: and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it.”

Note:    Biblical living is always divisive, because man has a sinful nature, and does not like to be told that he is a sinner. Many times just living a holy life is an aggravation to those around you — without even speaking a word.

 

Let a woman wear a modest dress all of the time, instead of body-hugging jeans or

short or slit skirts or dresses, and it will often aggravate the women around her.

They just cannot stand it, and will automatically think of the modestly dressed woman as having

a holier-than-thou attitude, even though she may never even mention the matter of proper attire.

 

    6. Proverbs 29:27 says, “An ____________ man is an ______________________ to the just: and he that is ______________ in the way is ______________________ to the wicked.”

Note:   Any time that a person decides to live by the Word of God, it is going to bring conviction upon those around that one. That is not being divisive, that is being Biblical.

 

#24 — Revelation 5:9-10

KJV (King James Version)    –   “And they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed ____ to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation; And hast made ____ unto our God kings and priests: and ____ shall reign on the earth.”

NIV (New International Version)    –   “And they sang a new song: “You are worthy to take the scroll and to open its seals, because you were slain, and with your blood you purchased MEN for God from every tribe and language and people and nation. You have made THEM to be a kingdom and priests to serve our God, and THEY will reign on the earth.”

Note:   These people are in heaven singing a song. In the KJV it is personalized, “Thou… hast redeemed US… And hast made US… kings and priests… and WE shall reign on the earth.” The NIV changed this song to be an impersonal song: “You purchased MEN… You have made THEM to be a kingdom and priests… THEY will reign on the earth.”

 

The NIV has people singing in heaven that are evidently not able to make the song personal.

The error here is clear — no one will be in heaven who is not personally redeemed.

 

    1. John 3:3 says, “Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be ________   __________, he ____________ see the ______________ of God.”

Note:   They not only make impersonal the matter of redemption, but also the matter of rewards. “You have made THEM to be a kingdom and priests… THEY will reign on the earth.”  Rewards are a personal incentive in the Christian life to be faithful and ambitious in serving the Lord. Just like you cannot get saved for someone else, neither can you gain rewards for someone else — these matters are personal. It is always a personal decision whether to yield to the Lord and to obey Him. No one else can make that decision for you.

    2. Revelation 3:11 says, “Behold, I come quickly: hold that fast which ________ hast, that no man take ______    __________.”

    3. Romans 14:11-12 says, “For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God. So then every ______ of us shall give ______________ of ______________ to God.”

#25 — Revelation 5:14

KJV (King James Version)    –   “And the four beasts said, Amen. And the ________ and ____________ elders fell down and worshipped him that liveth for ever and ever.”

NIV New International Version)    –   “The four living creatures said, “Amen,” and the elders fell down and worshiped.”

 

What is missing in the NIV in this verse? First, the number of the elders. Is it beyond the average person’s

ability to count to 24? If the translators were trying to update Old English, why did they make this change?

 

Note:    Remember the warning given in the end of the Book of Revelation?

    1. Revelation 22:19 says, “And if any man shall take ________ from the __________ of the book of this prophecy, God shall take ________ his part ______ of the book of ________, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.”

    2. Revelation 20:15 says, “And __________________ was not found ______________ in the book of ________ was ________ into the lake of ________.”

Note:   These verses are very clear that anyone who would tamper with God’s Word and remove parts of it, is not truly saved.

 

We often use Revelation 22:19 to warn people of the seriousness of what these new

translations do, in removing words, verses, and whole passages from the Bible.

In response, the statement is often made, “Oh, that only refers to the Book of Revelation!”

Well, here the NIV translators have removed words from the Book of Revelation.

 

Sometimes people refer to the translators as good and godly men. That is not what God says. He says that anyone who would take away from the words of the Bible is an unsaved man who will spend eternity in the lake of fire.

 

The NIV translators also took away the last seven words of this verse, “Him that

liveth for ever and ever.”  Is that important? Yes it is, because it is describing the One

that is being worshipped. No one but the eternal God is to be worshipped.

 

Who would want these words removed?   Satan, because he is not the eternal God, and he will cause many people to fall down and worship him.

And there was given unto him a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies; and power was given unto him to continue forty and two months. And he opened his mouth in __________________ against ______, to blaspheme his name, and his tabernacle, and them that dwell in heaven. And it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and power was given him over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations. #26 — Revelation 6:16-17

KJV (King James Version)    –   “And said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him that sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb: For the great day of ______ wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand?”

NIV (New International Version)    –   “They called to the mountains and the rocks, ‘Fall on us and hide us from the face of him who sits on the throne and from the wrath of the Lamb! For the great day of THEIR wrath has come, and who can stand?’”

    1. We see from Revelation 4:10-11, that this one is Jesus: “The four and twenty elders fall down before him that ______ on the ____________, and worship him that liveth for ever and ever, and cast their crowns before the throne, saying, Thou art worthy, O ________, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.”

 

So the NIV, then, is trying to take Jesus off from the throne. By changing his, which is singular,

to their, which is plural, they are separating the person on the throne as a distinct person from the Lamb.

 

    2. It is, indeed, the wrath of the Lamb that will be poured out upon this world. John 5:22 affirms, “For the ____________ judgeth ____ man, but hath committed ______ ________________ unto the ______.”

Note:   Once again we see that the NIV translators consistently change verses to make it harder to show that Jesus is truly God. Now you can see one reason why many churches that use the NIV do not have door-to-door witnessing. It is pretty hard to face the cults out there, when your “bible” agrees with them in many verses!

#27 — Revelation 7:14-15

KJV (King James Version)    –   “And I said unto him, Sir, thou knowest. And he said to me, These are they which came out of great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb. Therefore are they before the throne of God, and serve him day and night in his temple: and he that sitteth on the throne shall __________ among them.”

NIV (New International Version)    –   “I answered, “Sir, you know.” And he said, “These are they who have come out of the great tribulation; they have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb. Therefore, “they are before the throne of God and serve him day and night in his temple; and he who sits on the throne will SPREAD HIS TENT over them.”

Note:   Dwelling among some people, or spreading your tent over them is not necessarily the same thing at all. You may allow me to stay on your property, if I have a need, but that does not necessarily mean that you are going to be there, yourself, dwelling with me. You may have a vacation home somewhere, or a vacant condo — places where I would have a roof over my head — but not a place where you would be dwelling with me. The whole point of this passage is to bring comfort because the Lord is with us. Dwelling with someone, and spreading a tent over someone, is not the same meaning at all. It can be pretty lonely in a tent!

    1. Exodus 3:10-12 teaches us that our comfort, when we are facing a difficult time, is that the Lord is with us. “Come now therefore, and I will send thee unto Pharaoh, that thou mayest bring forth my people the children of Israel out of Egypt. And Moses said unto God, Who am I, that I should go unto Pharaoh, and that I should bring forth the children of Israel out of Egypt? And he said, Certainly ___ will be ________ thee; and this shall be a token unto thee, that I have sent thee: When thou hast brought forth the people out of Egypt, ye shall serve God upon this mountain.”

    2. Haggai 2:3-4 says, “Who is left among you that saw this house in her first glory? and how do ye see it now? is it not in your eyes in comparison of it as nothing? Yet now be ____________, O ____________________, saith the LORD; and be ____________, O ____________, son of Josedech, the high priest; and be ____________, all ye people of the land, saith the LORD, and work: for ___ am ________ you, saith the LORD of hosts.”

    3. Matthew 28:18-20 says, “And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. ____ ye therefore, and __________ all nations, __________________ them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: ________________ them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, ___ am ________ you __________, even unto the end of the world. Amen.”

 

 

#28 — Hebrews 1:7

KJV (King James Version)    –   “And of the angels he saith, Who maketh his angels ______________, and his ministers a flame of fire.”

NIV (New International Version)    –   “In speaking of the angels he says, “He makes his angels winds, his servants flames of fire.”

Note:    According to the NIV, are angels real beings, or are they just a part of nature — part of the wind? Some groups believe that departed souls become a part of nature — the trees, the wind, the sky, etc. What that does is cause people to worship nature. Angels are not a part of nature — they are real, living beings.

    1. Hebrews 1:13-14 says, “But to which of the ____________ said he at any time, Sit on my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool? Are they not all ministering ______________, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation?”

    2. Psalms 103:20-21 says, “Bless the LORD, ye his ____________, that __________ in ________________, that do his commandments, hearkening unto the voice of his word. Bless ye the LORD, all ye his hosts; ye ministers of his, that do his pleasure.”

KJV (King James Version)    –   “And he arose out of the synagogue, and entered into Simon’s house. And Simon’s wife’s mother was taken with a great fever; and they besought him for her. And he stood over her, and rebuked the fever; and it left her: and immediately she arose and ministered unto them. Now when the sun was setting, all they that had any sick with divers diseases brought them unto him; and he laid his hands on every one of them, and healed them. And devils also came out of many, crying out, and saying, Thou art Christ the Son of God. And he rebuking them suffered them not to speak: for they knew that he was Christ. And when it was day, he departed and went into a desert place: and the people sought him, and came unto him, and stayed him, that he should not depart from them. And he said unto them, I must preach the kingdom of God to other cities also: for therefore am I sent. And he preached in the synagogues of ______________.”

NIV (New International Version)    –   “Jesus left the synagogue and went to the home of Simon. Now Simon’s mother-in-law was suffering from a high fever, and they asked Jesus to help her. So he bent over her and rebuked the fever, and it left her. She got up at once and began to wait on them. When the sun was setting, the people brought to Jesus all who had various kinds of sickness, and laying his hands on each one, he healed them. Moreover, demons came out of many people, shouting, “You are the Son of God!” But he rebuked them and would not allow them to speak, because they knew he was the Christ. At daybreak Jesus went out to a solitary place. The people were looking for him and when they came to where he was, they tried to keep him from leaving them. But he said, “I must preach the good news of the kingdom of God to the other towns also, because that is why I was sent.” And he kept on preaching in the synagogues of Judea.”

Note:   The KJV says that Jesus preached in the synagogues of Galilee after He healed Peter’s mother-in-law. The NIV says that He preached in the synagogues of Judea. If you will look on a map, that is quite a difference. Galilee is way up by the Sea of Galilee, and Judea is way down by the Dead Sea. One of the translations is wrong.   The KJV is right, because Peter’s house was in Galilee — not Judea.

    1. Mark 1:28-39 says, “And immediately his fame spread abroad throughout all the ____________ round about ______________. And forthwith, when they were come out of the synagogue, they entered into the house of Simon and Andrew, with James and John. But ______________    ____________   ____________ lay sick of a __________, and anon they tell him of her. And he came and took her by the hand, and lifted her up; and immediately the fever left her, and she ministered unto them. And at even, when the sun did set, they brought unto him all that were diseased, and them that were possessed with devils. And all the city was gathered together at the door. And he healed many that were sick of divers diseases, and cast out many devils; and suffered not the devils to speak, because they knew him. And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed. And Simon and they that were with him followed after him. And when they had found him, they said unto him, All men seek for thee. And he said unto them, Let us go into the next towns, that I may ____________ there also: for therefore came I forth. And he preached in their ____________________ throughout all ______________, and cast out devils.”

Note:   The NIV contradicts itself between Luke 4:38-44 and Mark 1:28-39. They said Judea in Luke 4:44, but Galilee in Mark 1:39. The NIV says in Mark 1:28-39, “News about him spread quickly over the whole region of Galilee. As soon as they left the synagogue, they went with James and John to the home of Simon and Andrew. Simon’s mother-in-law was in bed with a fever, and they told Jesus about her. So he went to her, took her hand and helped her up. The fever left her and she began to wait on them. That evening after sunset the people brought to Jesus all the sick and demon-possessed. The whole town gathered at the door, and Jesus healed many who had various diseases. He also drove out many demons, but he would not let the demons speak because they knew who he was. Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed. Simon and his companions went to look for him, and when they found him, they exclaimed: “Everyone is looking for you!” Jesus replied, “Let us go somewhere else—to the nearby villages—so I can preach there also. That is why I have come.” So he traveled throughout Galilee, preaching in their synagogues and driving out demons.”

 

The NIV contradicts itself from Luke 4:44 to Mark 1:39.

 

This was not updating Old English, this change was substituting one region for another.

 

You do not have to be a scholar in manuscript evidence to discern which translation of the Bible

is the right one. Just study them carefully, and remember the following verses of Scripture.

 

    2. Proverbs 30:5-6 says, “__________   ________ of God is ________: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him. ______ thou ______ unto his __________, lest he reprove thee, and thou be __________ a ________.”

 

The NIV translators both removed  and added  to God’s Word, and we see that the above Scripture

has been fulfilled — they are found to be liars. They have printed that which is not true.

They have created contradictions even within their own translation.

    1. Mark 6:11 says, “And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear you, when ye depart thence, shake off the dust under your feet for a testimony against them. Verily I say unto you, It shall be ________    __________________ for Sodom and Gomorrha in the day of judgment, than for that city.”

    2. The NIV leaves out the last ____ words of that verse, just like the Jehovah’s Witnesses did in their translation.

    3. The Great White Throne Judgment is not to determine whether a person is saved or lost — only ________ people appear at that judgment. The purpose of that judgment is to determine the ____________ of torment that a person will suffer for all of eternity. That is why it is determined by a person’s __________.     5. 1 John 4:3 says, “And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the __________ is not of God: and this is that spirit of ____________________, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.”

    6. They (the NIV translators) have totally removed the fact, once again, that Jesus Christ CAME IN THE __________. If anyone denies this fact, then the verse is clear that he “is not of ______.” If anyone denies that Jesus Christ came in the flesh, then that is “that spirit of antichrist.”

    7. Psalm 12:6-7 says, “The __________ of the LORD are ________ words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. Thou shalt ________ them, O LORD, thou shalt ________________ them from this generation for ________.”

    8. They (the NIV translators) changed the promise of preservation to refer to ____________, instead of to the Word of God.

    9. The NIV translators did not use the normal ____________________ rule in this case, but totally skipped over verse 6, and tried to twist the previous verses to refer to people instead of to words.

    10. How were the wicked being exalted? Through their __________. So the Lord will deal with those wicked people. How? “The LORD shall CUT OFF all flattering LIPS, and the TONGUE that SPEAKETH proud things.” It then contrasts God’s pure Word (that which will be preserved forever), with the words of the wicked (those words which God will cut off).

    11. Sometimes people who hold fast to the King James Bible as the pure Word of God without error, are accused of being in a ________. What is a cult? A cult is a group of people that blindly follow ______ — not the ________ of God. The King James crowd is not a cult. They are simply holding fast to what God has promised in His Word. If anyone is part of a cult between these two groups (the NIV verses the KJV), it is the NIV crowd. They are blindly following men who are butchering the Word of God, and all the while these people are defending their actions.

    12. It is noble Christians (not cultists), who demand that all teaching submit to the __________________ of God’s Word. It is the cultists who allow the word of their ______________ to become the authority.

    13.    2 Timothy 2:15 says, “__________ to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.”

    14. The NIV says, “Do your ________ to present yourself to God as one approved, a workman who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth.”

    15. What is so hard to understand about the word study? Is that an Old English word? The translators of the NIV followed the Jehovah’s Witnesses with the same thought. The word study means, “a ______________ examination or analysis” (Merriam-Webster’s 11th Collegiate Dictionary). People are prone to give ______________ when they do not do well on a test. They may say that they “did their ________” or “did their utmost,” but the fact remains that many times they did not really study the material — they did not do “a careful examination or analysis” of the material.

    16. John 3:13 says, “And no man hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, even the Son of man which is ____   ____________.”

    17. The NIV says, “No one has ever gone into heaven except the one who came from heaven—the Son of Man.” How can any honest Christian defend what the NIV translators have done? The Jehovah’s Witnesses do not believe that Jesus is God Almighty, that is why they removed those four words “which is in heaven.” Why did the NIV translators ____________ those four words? What is the importance of those four words? They prove that Jesus is not just “a god” upon earth, but the Almighty God which is present ____________________ in heaven and earth. No one can be present on earth and in heaven at the same time, unless that one is ______ Almighty.

    18. Acts 3:25 says, “Unto you first God, having raised up his ______ Jesus, sent him to bless you, in turning away every one of you from his iniquities.”

    19. The NIV says, “When God raised up his ______________, he sent him first to you to bless you by turning each of you from your wicked ways.”

    20. The word son has not changed to servant. That is not an Old English word that needs updating. A ______ has full rights and authority, but a servant does not. The resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ does not give a picture of servant hood, but of great authority and __________.

    21. Romans 1:3-4 says, “Concerning his ______ Jesus Christ our Lord, which was made of the seed of David according to the flesh; And declared to be the ______ of God with __________, according to the spirit of holiness, by the ________________________ from the dead.”

    22. Hebrews 3:15-17 says, “While it is said, To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts, as in the provocation. For ________, when they had heard, did provoke: howbeit ______ ______ that came out of Egypt by Moses. But with whom was he grieved forty years? was it not with them that had sinned, whose carcases fell in the wilderness?”

    23. The NIV says, “As has just been said: “Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts as you did in the rebellion.” Who were they who heard and rebelled? Were they not ______ those Moses led out of Egypt?”

    24. The little children who have paid attention in Sunday School could tell you that the NIV has made a __________ statement here. They know that not everyone who came out of Egypt rebelled — they know that __________ and __________ did not.

    25. Hebrews 2:16 says, “For verily he took not on him the ____________ of angels; but he took on him the seed of Abraham.”

    26. The NIV says, “For surely it is not angels he __________, but Abraham’s descendants.”

    27. This is but another example of how the translators of the NIV have corrupted verses that deal with the deity and humanity of the Lord Jesus Christ. This verse clearly teaches that Jesus did not come to earth as an ______________ being.

    28. We can understand the Jehovah’s Witnesses wanting to change this passage, because they do not accept that the Lord Jesus Christ, God Almighty, came in the flesh to redeem man-kind. The Jehovah’s Witnesses say, “The foremost angel, both in power and authority is the archangel, Jesus Christ, also called Michael.” (The Watchtower, Nov. 1, 1995, p. 8 – http://www.afcministry.com/What_do_Jehovahs_Witnesses_believe.htm). What the translators of the NIV have done here is ________ or assist the cults in their __________ teaching.

    29. By making this change, the NIV translators have made another error and have made a false statement. They have stated that God does not ________ angels. That is not true. God does help angels, or angels would be unable to do anything. Angels are not omnipotent (the prefix omni means “all,” and the word potent means “power” —all powerful) beings. They depend upon God for their ________________, just like we do.

    30. Jude 1:9 says, “Yet Michael the __________________, when ____________________ with the devil he disputed about the body of Moses, durst not bring against him a railing accusation, but said, The ________ rebuke thee.” We find here that Michael the archangel was disputing with the devil about the body of Moses. Michael did NOT try to REBUKE the devil in his own power, but called upon the Lord to do it, “The Lord rebuke thee.” God does give help to His angels, or they would have no power. The NIV translators have made an absolutely false statement here.

    31. Isaiah 14:12-15 says, “How art thou fallen from heaven, O ______________, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations! For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north: I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High. Yet thou shalt be brought down to ________, to the sides of the pit.”

    32. The NIV says, “How you have fallen from heaven, O ______________   ________, son of the dawn! You have been cast down to the earth, you who once laid low the nations!”

    33. The NIV translators took away the name Lucifer and replaced it with a title used of the Lord Jesus Christ — morning star. Revelation 22:16 says, “I __________ have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and ______________   ________.”

    34. Has Lucifer now become the Savior of the world who is worthy to be worshipped? No, but that is exactly what he is going to set himself up as in the Tribulation Period, and will cause all to receive his mark and will demand that all worship him. 2 Thessalonians 2:3-4 says, “Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of ______ be revealed, the son of perdition; Who opposeth and ________________   ______________ above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that ____ as God sitteth in the ____________ of God, shewing himself that he is God.”

    35. To further the weakening and corrupting of this passage, the NIV translators changed the word hell to the word __________. Is that the end of Lucifer — the grave? No, the end of Lucifer is the torment of hell — the Lake of Fire. Matthew 25:41 says, “Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into ______________________    ________, prepared for the __________ and his angels.”

    36. Luke 4:4 says, “And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every ________ of ______.”

    37. The NIV translators followed the lead of the Jehovah’s Witnesses, and removed the last ______ words of the verse “but by every word of God.”  Man knows that he does not live by bread alone, but the NIV and the NWT do not tell him what he does need to live eternally — the Word of God. 1 Peter 1:23 says, “Being ________   __________, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the ________ of ______, which liveth and abideth for ever.”

    38. Titus 3:10-11 says, “A man that is an ________________ after the first and second admonition reject; Knowing that he that is such is subverted, and sinneth, being condemned of himself.”

    39. The NIV says, “Warn a ________________ person.”  Does heretick and divisive mean the same thing? No. The word heretic means, “a dissenter from established religious dogma; one who dissents from an accepted belief or doctrine” (Merriam-Webster?s 11th Collegiate Dictionary). The word divisive means “creating disunity or dissension” (Merriam-Webster?s 11th Collegiate Dictionary).

   40. This change that the NIV has made to this verse becomes deadly to a church, because it makes the real enemy disunity — not doctrinal error. Now, anyone who dares to say that something is not scripturally right, is accused of creating ________________ in the church.

    41. Revelation 5:9-10 says, “And they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed ____ to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation; And hast made ____ unto our God kings and priests: and ____ shall reign on the earth.”

    42. The NIV makes it all impersonal, “…you purchased MEN for God from every tribe and language and people and nation. You have made THEM to be a kingdom and priests to serve our God, and THEY will reign on the earth.” The NIV has people singing in heaven that are evidently not able to make the song ________________. The error here is clear — no one will be in heaven who is not ____________________ redeemed.

    43. Revelation 5:14 says, “And the four beasts said, Amen. And the ________ and ____________ elders fell down and worshipped him that liveth for ever and ever.”   

    44. “The four living creatures said, “Amen,” and the elders fell down and worshiped.” What is missing in the NIV in this verse? First, the ____________ of the elders. Is it beyond the average person’s ability to count to 24? If the translators were trying to update Old English, why did they make this change?

    45. Revelation 22:19 says, “And if any man shall take ________ from the __________ of the book of this prophecy, God shall take ________ his part ______ of the book of ________, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.”

    46. These verses are very clear that anyone who would tamper with God’s Word and ____________ parts of it, is not truly __________. We often use Revelation 22:19 to warn people of the seriousness of what these new translations do, in removing words, verses, and whole passages from the Bible. In response, the statement is often made, “Oh, that only refers to the Book of Revelation!” Well, here the NIV translators have ______________ words from the Book of ____________________.

    47. Hebrews 1:7 says, “And of the angels he saith, Who maketh his angels ______________, and his ministers a flame of fire.”

    48. The NIV says, “In speaking of the angels he says, “He makes his angels __________, his servants flames of fire.” According to the NIV, are angels real beings, or are they just a part of ____________ — part of the wind? Some groups believe that departed souls become a part of nature — the trees, the wind, the sky, etc.. What that does is cause people to worship nature. Angels are not a part of nature — they are real, living beings.

    49. Luke 4:38-44 says, “And he arose out of the synagogue, and entered into Simon’s house. And Simon’s wife’s mother was taken with a great fever; and they besought him for her. And he stood over her, and rebuked the fever; and it left her: and immediately she arose and ministered unto them. … And he said unto them, I must preach the kingdom of God to other cities also: for therefore am I sent. And he preached in the synagogues of ______________.”

    50.The NIV says, “And he kept on preaching in the synagogues of __________.” The KJV says that Jesus preached in the synagogues of Galilee after He healed Peter’s mother-in-law. The NIV says that He preached in the synagogues of Judea. If you will look on a map, that is quite a difference. Galilee is way up by the Sea of Galilee, and Judea is way down by the Dead Sea. One of the translations is wrong. The KJV is right, because Peter’s house was in Galilee — not Judea.

    51. The NIV contradicts itself between Luke 4:38-44 and Mark 1:28-39. They said Judea in Luke 4:44, but Galilee in Mark 1:39. The NIV says in Mark 1:28-39, “News about him spread quickly over the whole region of ______________. As soon as they left the synagogue, they went with James and John to the home of Simon and Andrew. Simon’s mother-in-law was in bed with a fever, and they told Jesus about her. So he went to her, took her hand and helped her up. The fever left her and she began to wait on them. … So he traveled throughout ______________, PREACHING IN THEIR SYNAGOGUES and driving out demons.”

Are you certain that if you died today, you would go to heaven?

1. Do you realize that you have sinned?

(Romans 3:23)  “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.”

(1 John 1:8)   “If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.”

(Ecclesiastes 7:20)   “For there is not a just man upon earth, that doeth good, and sinneth not.”

 

2. Do you realize the penalty for your sin?

(Romans 6:23)   “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”

 

3. Do you realize that if you die in your sin, you will go to hell?

(Psalms 9:17)   “The wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the nations that forget God.”

(Proverbs 15:24)   “The way of life is above to the wise, that he may depart from hell beneath.”

(Luke 12:4-5)   “And I say unto you my friends, Be not afraid of them that kill the body, and after that have no more that they can do.   But I will forewarn you whom ye shall fear: Fear him, which after he hath killed hath power to cast into hell; yea, I say unto you, Fear him.”

 

4. Do you realize that the Lord Jesus Christ, God in the flesh, paid that death penalty for you?

(Matthew 1:21-23)    “And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.    Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying,     Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.”

(John 14:6-7)    “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.   If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him.”

(John 3:16)    “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

(Romans 5:8)   “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”

(1 Peter 3:18)   “For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit.”

(1 Peter 2:24)   “Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.”

 

5. Do you realize that it is only through the shed blood of the Lord Jesus Christ that you can be saved, and not through any good works of your own?

(1 John 1:7)   “But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.”

(1 Peter 1:18-19)   “Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers;    But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot.”

(Ephesians 2:8-9)   “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:    Not of works, lest any man should boast.”

(Titus 3:5-7)   “Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;   Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour;   That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.”

 

6. Do you realize that after Jesus died for your sins, He arose victorious from the grave the third day, proving that His sacrifice was sufficient to pay for all of the sins of the whole world?

(1 Corinthians 15:1-4)    “Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;   By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.    For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;   And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures.”

 

7. Do you realize that to be saved you must repent (you must have the desire to turn from your sin and false beliefs, and have the desire for God to transform your life)?

(Luke 13:3)   “I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.”

(Acts 3:19)   “Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord.”

(Acts 26:20)   “But shewed first unto them of Damascus, and at Jerusalem, and throughout all the coasts of Judaea, and then to the Gentiles, that they should repent and turn to God, and do works meet for repentance.”

(Mark 9:43-48)   “And if thy hand offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter into life maimed, than having two hands to go into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched:   Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched.   And if thy foot offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter halt into life, than having two feet to be cast into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched:   Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched.   And if thine eye offend thee, pluck it out: it is better for thee to enter into the kingdom of God with one eye, than having two eyes to be cast into hell fire:   Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched.”

 

8. Do you realize that after you get saved, God’s first command for you is to get baptized and then to live for Him?

(Acts 2:41)   “Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls.”

(Romans 6:1-4)   “What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?   God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?   Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?    Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.”

(2 Corinthians 5:17)    “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.”

(Titus 3:3-8)   “For we ourselves also were sometimes foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving divers lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another.   But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared,   Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;   Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour;   That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.   This is a faithful saying, and these things I will that thou affirm constantly, that they which have believed in God might be careful to maintain good works. These things are good and profitable unto men.”

(Titus 2:11-14)    “For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men,   Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;   Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;   Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.”

(1 Corinthians 6:9-11)   “Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind,   Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.   And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.”

(Galatians 5:19-26)   “Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,   Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,   Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.   But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,    Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.   And they that are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.   If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.   Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another.”

(1 Corinthians 11:14-15)   “Doth not even nature itself teach you, that, if a man have long hair, it is a shame unto him?    But if a woman have long hair, it is a glory to her: for her hair is given her for a covering.”

(Deuteronomy 22:5)   “The woman shall not wear that which pertaineth unto a man, neither shall a man put on a woman’s garment: for all that do so are abomination unto the LORD thy God.”

(Ephesians 4:22-32)   “That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts;   And be renewed in the spirit of your mind;   And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.    Wherefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbour: for we are members one of another.   Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath:   Neither give place to the devil.   Let him that stole steal no more: but rather let him labour, working with his hands the thing which is good, that he may have to give to him that needeth.   Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.   And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.   Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice:    And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.”

 

9. Are you ready to now ask the Lord Jesus Christ to forgive you of all your sins, and to save you?

(John 1:12)   “But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name.”

(Romans 10:9-11)   “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.   For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.    For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.”

(Romans 10:13)   “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”

(1 John 5:13)   “These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.”

 

 

ATTENTION:    If you die before you make this decision, then you will spend eternity in the torment of hell fire.  Turn from your wickedness and sin, and humble yourself before Almighty God right now.

Bow your head right now and confess to God that you are a sinner deserving judgment.  Ask the Lord Jesus Christ to forgive you of all your sins, and to save you.  Tell Him that you now repent, and ask Him to cleanse your life, and to give you the power to live for Him.  Tell Him that you are trusting in His shed blood alone to cleanse you from all your sin.  Ask Him to lead you to a good, Bible-preaching church, where you can follow the first command after salvation — that of getting baptized and publicly confessing your faith in Him.  Ask Him to help you find some good Christian friends to encourage you in the faith and to help you grow.
