First, who owns heaven? God does, because He created it. “In the beginning GOD CREATED the HEAVEN and the earth.” (Holy Bible, Genesis 1:1, KJV)
So if you are not sure whether God will let you into heaven, it is because you are not sure of your relationship with Him.
If you knocked on the door of your friend’s house, are you 5 stars sure of being let in? Of course!
So what has made your relationship to God questionable in your mind?
Here is the reason why: “But your iniquities have SEPARATED between YOU and your GOD, and YOUR SINS have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.” (Holy Bible, Isaiah 59:2, KJV)
What sins have separated you from God?
Have you ever lied?
To your parents? To your teacher? To your boss? To your husband or wife? To your friends? To the government about taxes? To God?
Then you have sinned. You have broken one of God’s Laws. “Lie not one to another.” (Holy Bible, Colossians 3:9a, KJV)
This is the penalty for lying: “And all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.” (Holy Bible, Revelation 21:8b, KJV)
Now you know why you could not choose 5 stars, because liars do not go to heaven—they are cast into hell.
Have you ever lusted?
Jesus said, “Whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.” (Holy Bible, Matthew 5:28b, KJV)
So you have broken another one of God’s Laws, and committed adultery in your heart.
Have you ever swore using God’s name—or said a bad word?
“Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.” (Holy Bible, Exodus 20:7a, KJV) “Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth.” (Holy Bible, Ephesians 4:29a. KJV) So you have broken another law of God.
You can be
sure of going to heaven.
But how can we be sure, when we have committed all these sins, and the penalty is the lake of fire?
Here is the answer: “Sirs, what must I do to be saved? And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved.” (Holy Bible, Acts 16:30b-31a, KJV)
Who is the Lord Jesus Christ?
He is the Son of God; God Almighty in the flesh; Creator of heaven and earth. “Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.” (Holy Bible, Mat. 1:23, KJV) “All things were created by him.” (Holy Bible, Colossians 1:16b, KJV)
Jesus lived a perfect, sinless life, and then died on the cross, paying the penalty for our sin. “For the wages of sin is death.” (Holy Bible, Romans 6:23a, KJV) “While we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” (Holy Bible, Romans 5:8b, KJV) “Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree.” (on the cross) (Holy Bible, I Peter 2:24, KJV)
Jesus then rose from the grave the third day, proving that He had successfully paid that death penalty for us. “He rose again the third day.” (Holy Bible, 1 Cor. 15:4b, KJV)
#1—REPENT—Jesus said, “Except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.” (Holy Bible, Luke 13:3, KJV) “For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation.” (Holy Bible, 2 Cor. 7:10) “For I will declare mine iniquity; I will be sorry for my sin.” (Holy Bible, Psalm 38:18) “Testifying… repentance toward God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ.” (Holy Bible, Acts 20:21ac, KJV)
#2—RECEIVE—“But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that BELIEVE on his NAME.” (Holy Bible, John 1:12, KJV) “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the LORD JESUS, and shalt BELIEVE in thine HEART that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be SAVED.” “For whosoever shall CALL upon the NAME of the LORD shall be SAVED.” (Holy Bible, Romans 10:9,13)
From your heart, call upon the Lord Jesus Christ to forgive you of your sins, and to save you.
#3—REJOICE—“Then they that gladly received his word were baptized.” (Holy Bible, Acts 2:41a) After we get saved, it brings joy and gladness to our hearts when we obey God, and get baptized in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
Baptism does not save us—it is just our testimony of identifying with Jesus’ death and burial (as we are placed down under the water)—and with His resurrection (as we are brought up out of the water), to now serve Him in newness of life. “Even so we also should walk in newness of life.” (Romans 6:4b)
Yes, I just asked the Lord Jesus Christ to forgive me and to save me, and I do want to now walk in that newness of life.
