EXAMPLE #1
þ Please look at the first example on the front cover. “Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets.” (Matthew 7:12, KJV) That statement of Jesus is often called the Golden Rule, and is found in the New Testament. But please notice carefully what Jesus said about it, “…for this is the LAW and the PROPHETS.”
Jesus taught people to obey the Golden Rule, and said that it was FROM THE OLD TESTAMENT.
Please keep that thought in mind, as we consider the second example on the cover.
EXAMPLE #2
þ The Bible says in Deuteronomy 22:5, “The woman shall not wear that which pertaineth unto a man, neither shall a man put on a woman’s garment: for all that do so are abomination unto the LORD thy God.”
Many professing Christians do not like that verse, because it would mean that women should not wear pants, because pants pertain to men — not to women. The word pertain means, “to have reference to” (Merriam-Webster’s 11th Collegiate Dictionary).
It is very clear that pants pertain
to men — not to women — even unsaved people acknowledge this. Consider the signs on public restrooms. Which bathroom has
the pants on the door? The Men’s. Which bathroom has the dress
on the door? The Women’s.
Why is it so important to God that men and women dress modestly and distinctively different from each other? The reason is this: if you see two people walking down the sidewalk together, and they are both in pants, how do you know which is the man, and which is the woman? If you cannot tell at a glance from a distance, then you will keep looking until you know. Your eyes will be drawn to the differences in the way that God has made men and women. Those areas entice people to lust. That is why God wants men and women to dress distinctively different from each other, and to also have clearly different lengths of hair. “Doth not even nature itself teach you, that, if a MAN have LONG HAIR, it is a SHAME unto him? But if a WOMAN have LONG HAIR, it is a GLORY to her: for her hair is given her for a covering” (Holy Bible, 1 Corinthians 11:14-15, KJV). Having clearly different lengths of hair greatly aids in distinguishing genders.
It is interesting today that so many professing Christians seem to take offence at being told how to dress, so they say,
“Oh, that is OLD TESTAMENT!
That does not apply to us today!”
Many of them also seem to take offence at being told that men should not have long hair, or women short hair, so they say,
“Oh, that was way back in the
NEW TESTAMENT! That does
not apply to us today! That
was just a cultural thing.”
These are not rare, but common statements being made by Christians today. Stop and think. What has happened? They did not like God’s instruction about dress, so they called it OUTDATED because it was written in the OLD TESTAMENT. Then they did not like God’s instruction about hair, so they called it OUTDATED because it was written way back in the days of the NEW TESTAMENT.
Do you realize what they have done? They have rejected BOTH the Old and the New Testaments based upon current traditions
of clothing and hair styles.
“Full well YE REJECT THE COMMANDMENT of GOD, that ye may keep your own TRADITION” (Holy Bible, Mark 7:9, KJV). Are YOU one of those people that have refused to obey God, because you then would stand out from the world’s traditions and styles?
“And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?” (Holy Bible, Luke 6:46, KJV). “What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore GLORIFY GOD IN YOUR BODY, AND IN YOUR SPIRIT, which are God’s” (Holy Bible, 1 Corinthians 6:19-20, KJV).
What normally lets you know
that a man is a soldier, and not
just a civilian? Two things — his CLOTHES and his HAIR.
If called by your country, would you submit to the military clothes and hair style? Then why would you do any less for God? “Thou therefore endure hardness, as a GOOD SOLDIER OF JESUS CHRIST” (Holy Bible, 2 Timothy 2:3, KJV).
Having the right clothes and the right hair style is not going to help you, if you are not really saved.
The Lord Jesus Christ is the Son of God; God Almighty in the flesh: Creator of heaven and earth. He is Master, Savior, and Messiah. He died on the cross for you, and gave His pure, sinless blood to pay your sin debt. The Lord Jesus Christ arose from the grave the third day, proving that His blood fully paid for your sins. To be saved, you must CALL upon Him from your HEART. “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the LORD JESUS, and shalt BELIEVE in thine HEART that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be SAVED.” “For whosoever shall CALL upon the NAME of the LORD shall be SAVED” (Holy Bible, Romans 10:9,13, KJV).
After we ask the Lord Jesus Christ to save us, then God instructs us to openly confess Him by getting baptized in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. When we go under the water, it pictures death to the old life of sin, and when we come up out of the water, it pictures a new life serving the Lord Jesus Christ.
Yes, I just asked the Lord Jesus Christ to save me, and I desire to now live for Him.
