Question:
Can we lose our salvation?
Answer:
No we cannot lose our salvation. John 6:37 says, “All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I WILL IN NO WISE CAST OUT.”
I have shared this verse with some who then reply, “God will never cast me out, but I can fall out or fall away on my own.” That is not true. Just two verses later, Jesus says, “And this is the Father’s will which hath sent me, THAT OF ALL WHICH HE HATH GIVEN ME I SHOULD LOSE NOTHING, but should raise it up again at the last day” (John 6:39).
Jesus will never “cast anyone out,” nor can they “fall out,” because He will never lose one who comes to Him.
The Bible promises, “Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee” (Hebrews 13:5).
The reason that salvation cannot be lost, is because it is paid for by the blood of Jesus Christ, not by any works of ours. “Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot” (I Peter 1:18,19). “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast” (Ephesians 2:8,9). Our salvation is based upon JESUS’ RIGHTEOUSNESS — NOT OURS. “For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him” (II Corinthians 5:21). “My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous: And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world” (I John 2:1,2) It is God’s will that we not sin, but when we do sin, it is JESUS CHRIST THE RIGHTEOUS that pleads for us based upon His righteousness.
