Question:
I believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, but I am homosexual. Why do some people feel that I cannot be saved when the Lord loves all his children?
Answer:
The answer to your question does not lie with what people “feel” or “think.” The Bible says in Proverbs 14:12, “There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.” The answer that we must accept is what God says in His Word.
For you to claim to believe in the Lord Jesus Christ for salvation, and yet to openly state that you are a Sodomite, shows that you have not come to Christ as a repentant sinner, but as one who is still hanging on to his sin.
Remember how John the Baptist began his ministry? Matthew 3:1,2 says, “In those days came John the Baptist, preaching in the wilderness of Judaea, And saying, REPENT ye: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.”
Jesus started His earthly ministry with those exact words. Matthew 4:17 says, “From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, REPENT: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.”
Getting saved is not “adding Jesus to your life, and continuing right on in your sin.” Getting saved is repenting of your sin, and turning to Christ to save you. Repentance is a change of mind about sin — that it is wrong — that it is disgusting — that it is wicked — that it is against God. That does not mean that you are suddenly perfect. But when you are truly repentant, you do not try and justify your sin. Acts 3:19 says, “REPENT ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord.”
In your statement, you do not admit that your lifestyle is sinful, wrong, wicked, and an abomination to God. You simply lash out at those who are questioning whether you are truly saved. They are simply following the Scripture. Leviticus 20:13 says, “If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them.” The New Testament does not paint a different picture of Sodomy. Romans 1:21-28 says, “Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things. Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves: Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen. For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompense of their error which was meet. And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient.” Your sin is an abomination to God.
The good news, is that Jesus can save your soul, and deliver you from the sin of Sodomy. I Corinthians 6:9-11 says, “Know ye not that THE UNRIGHTEOUS SHALL NOT INHERIT THE KINGDOM OF GOD? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, NOR EFFEMINATE, NOR ABUSERS OF THEMSELVES WITH MANKIND, Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God. And SUCH WERE SOME OF YOU: BUT YE ARE WASHED, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.”
Come to Jesus Christ in repentance and faith, and be washed from your sin. I John 1:6,7 says, “If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth: But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.”
