Chapter 2

#3 — Matthew 23:14

“Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, ____________________! for ye devour widows' houses, and for a pretence make long prayer: therefore ye shall receive the ______________    __________________.”

Note:   This entire verse has been removed from the NIV. Why? The language is easily understandable.   This verse teaches something that many people do not understand; and because they do not, they turn against God and become bitter toward Him.  Many people look around and see all of the evil taking place, and they accuse God of not caring. They see the hypocrisy, even in religious circles, and they decide that life is not fair, and that God is not fair. So they set out to do as wickedly as they please. That is exactly what Satan wants.

Verse 14 shows that God does care about what is happening, and that

He will one day give to all people exactly what they deserve

— but the verse is completely missing in the NIV.

    1. Matthew 10:14-15 says, “And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear your words, when ye depart out of that house or city, shake off the dust of your feet. Verily I say unto you, It shall be ________   __________________ for the land of Sodom and Gomorrha in the day of ________________, than for that city.”

Note:   Why would God make it more tolerable for the people of Sodom and Gomorrah in the day of judgment, than for the people who heard the disciples preach, but rejected it?  The people of Sodom and Gomorrah were involved in wicked, immoral perversion.

    2. Genesis 19:4-7 says, “But before they lay down, the men of the city, even the men of Sodom, compassed the house round, both old and young, all the people from every quarter: And they called unto Lot, and said unto him, Where are the ______ which came in to thee this night? bring them out unto us, that we may ________ them. And Lot went out at the door unto them, and shut the door after him, And said, I pray you, brethren, do not so ________________.”

Note:   Lot was ready to offer his own daughters for immorality to these wicked men, before he was willing to give up the men who were visiting him (whom he did not yet know that they were really angels) to their wicked perversion.

    3. Genesis 19:8-9 says, “Behold now, I have two daughters which have not known man; let me, I pray you, bring them out unto you, and do ye to them as is good in your eyes: only unto these men do nothing; for therefore came they under the shadow of my roof. And they said, Stand back. And they said again, This one fellow came in to ______________, and he will needs be a __________: now will we deal __________ with ________, than with them. And they pressed sore upon the man, even Lot, and came near to break the door.”

Note:   The men of Sodom were now furious at Lot, because he was just a sojourner (a temporary visitor) there in their city, and he dared to judge them and call their actions wicked.

It is the same with Sodomites today. They go into a rage when it is

brought out that their sin is wicked and vile and perverted. No one is

born a Sodomite.   That is a wicked and perverted sin that is learned

from associating with other wicked and vile and perverted people.

    4. Romans 1:24 says, “Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to __________________ their own bodies between themselves:”
    5. Romans 1:26-28 says, “For this cause God gave them up unto ________ affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is ______________ ____________: And likewise also the men, leaving the ______________    ______ of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; ______ with ______ working that which is ________________, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet. And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a __________________ mind, to do those things which are not convenient;”

Note:   The word reprobate means, “Abandoned in sin; lost to virtue or grace.” (Noah Webster’s 1828 Dictionary)

Note:   So why would God make the judgment more tolerable for the people of Sodom, than for the people who heard the disciples, but rejected the gospel? Because the people of Sodom never heard the gospel from Lot. At the last minute, he called their actions wicked, and tried to warn his sons-in-law, but they would not listen.

    6. Genesis 19:12-14 says, “And the men said unto Lot, Hast thou here any besides? son in law, and thy sons, and thy daughters, and whatsoever thou hast in the city, bring them out of this place: For we will destroy this place, because the cry of them is waxen great before the face of the LORD; and the LORD hath sent us to destroy it. And ______ went out, and __________ unto his ________   ____   ______, which married his daughters, and said, Up, get you out of this place; for the LORD will destroy this city. But he seemed as one that ____________ unto his sons in law.”

Note:   There are more passages which teach the same thing, that it will be more tolerable in the day of judgment for those who do not hear the Word of God, than for those who do hear it, but reject it.

    7. Matthew 11:20-22 says, “Then began he to upbraid the cities wherein most of his ____________ works were done, because they ________________ ______: Woe unto thee, Chorazin! woe unto thee, Bethsaida! for if the mighty works, which were done in you, had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes. But I say unto you, It shall be ________ __________________ for Tyre and Sidon at the day of ________________, than for you.”
    8. Matthew 11:23-24 says, “And thou, Capernaum, which art exalted unto heaven, shalt be brought down to hell: for if the ____________ works, which have been done in thee, had been done in Sodom, it would have remained until this day. But I say unto you, That it shall be ________   __________________ for the land of Sodom in the day of judgment, than for thee.”

This is teaching the truth that God is fair, and that He will, in the day of judgment, give to all

people exactly what they deserve. This is in regard to the saved, and in regard to the lost.

    9. 1 Corinthians 3:11-15 shows the Judgment Seat of Christ, and the saved people getting exactly what they deserve. “For other ____________________ can no man lay than that is laid, which is __________    ____________. Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble; Every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the ________ shall try every man's ________ of what ________ it is. If any man's work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a ____________. If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer ________: but he ______________ shall be __________; yet so as by fire.”
    10. Revelation 20:11-15 shows the Great White Throne Judgment, and lost people getting exactly what they deserve. “And I saw a __________    __________   ____________, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them. And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were ____________ out of those things which were written in the books, according to their __________. And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the ________ of ________.”

Note:   The lost are judged there according to their works — not to determine their salvation, but to determine the exact degree of punishment that they deserve for all of eternity.

    11. Ephesians 2:8-9 says, “For by grace are ye __________ through __________; and that ______ of ____________________: it is the ________ of God: ______ of __________, lest any man should boast.”
    12. Titus 3:5 says, “______ by __________ of righteousness which ____ have done, but according to his mercy he __________ us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;”

Note:   The lost are judged according to their works at the Great White Throne Judgment — not to determine their salvation — they are already lost, that is why they are there, but to determine the exact degree of torment that they deserve for all of eternity. Do not ever say that God is unfair. God is fair. He will give exactly what people deserve at the Judgment Day.

How can the torment in hell be of different degrees for different people? The same way that

there are different degrees of flames today. Light a match, and you will have a flame that hurts you.

Now, light a propane torch, and you will have a flame that hurts more, because it is hotter.

Now, light a gas welder, and add some oxygen to the acetylene, and you have a flame that

will hurt more severely, because it is hotter. That is the same way that the lake of fire will

hold more torment for some. All who are there are in pain in the flames of hell fire, but each

person will receive the exact degree of punishment that each one deserves.

Why would the devil not want that truth in the Bible? Because it would cause people to stop and think before they did wicked deeds. They would realize that every single wicked deed will bring about a greater degree of punishment. That thought alone may bring many people to repentance and salvation, so they could escape hell fire someday.  But with people’s present idea of hell (darkness, smoke, some fire, being chased, etc.), that is not much different than the bars where they spend their time right now (dimly-lighted, smoke-filled, flames of cigarette lighters, wicked men and women chasing each other, etc.).   Because of this mindset, people figure that they might as well live as wickedly as they want to now, seeming they are going to hell anyway. Satan wants them to think that way, because he can then use them to accomplish more wicked deeds.

#4 — Mark 7:16

“If any man have ________ to hear, let him ________.”

Note:   What is hard to understand about this verse? Why would the translators remove the entire verse?

    1. Mark 7:15 says, “There is nothing from ______________ a man, that entering into him can defile him: but the things which ________   ______ of him, those are they that ____________ the man.”

Note:   In life, man is so prone to blame his problems on someone else. The study of Psychology has only made this problem worse. Now, every problem that a person has is caused by something or someone other than himself.  Jesus was trying to get people to see that their biggest problem comes from within — their sin nature. They do bad things because they have a bad heart.

    2. Jeremiah 17:9-10 says, “The __________ is __________________ above all things, and desperately ____________: who can know it? I the LORD search the heart, I try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings.”
    3. Matthew 12:34-35 says, “O generation of vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak good things? for out of the abundance of the __________ the __________ speaketh. A good man out of the good treasure of the heart bringeth forth good things: and an evil man out of the evil treasure bringeth forth evil things.”

The problem today is that many people think that they are basically good — not basically sinful and selfish.

God wants all people to listen to what He has said, and apply it personally. The NIV has removed this verse completely.

That is exactly what Satan wants — for people to not apply the Bible to themselves personally.

    4. James 1:22-24 says, “But be ye __________ of the ________, and ______   ______________    ________,   __________________ your own selves. For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass: For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway ____________________ what manner of man he was.”

#5 — Mark 9:44

“Where their ________ dieth not, and the ________ is not quenched.”

Note:   Once again, there is nothing here that needs to be updated, in regard to the language. Then why did the NIV translators remove this verse? Many different denominations were involved in the translation work of the NIV, and many churches are forsaking the idea that there is a literal, eternal, lake of fire for the lost. For those who believe in some kind of punishment, they generally think that it is temporary, and then man will be released.

This verse teaches two very important things. Number one, that people are physically whole,

but experiencing an eternal dying for ever in hell. And number two, that there is eternal torment in hell.

    1. The first part of Mark 9:44 says, “Where their worm __________   ______.”
    2. Job 24:19-20 says, “Drought and heat consume the snow waters: so doth the __________ those which have sinned. The womb shall forget him; the ________ shall ________ sweetly on him; he shall be no more remembered; and wickedness shall be broken as a tree.”

Note:   When the body dies, the worms come and feed upon it. But when the body is consumed, the worms perish.  The Bible says in verse 44 that when people are resurrected and cast into the lake of fire, their worms will not die. That is clear language showing that those people’s bodies continue to be physically whole — but forever dying and their bodies never consumed.  That is a very important verse that would prove many churches wrong in their doctrines dealing with what awaits mankind after death. But the NIV has totally removed this important verse.

    3. The second part of Mark 9:44 says, “...and the fire is ______   ________________.”

Note:   The first part of the verse shows that the people in hell are never consumed, but eternally experiencing death. The second part of the verse shows that the fire in hell is never going to be extinguished.  Without the first part of the verse, someone may say that the fire in hell continues on forever, but the people are either let out after a while, or are just totally consumed and cease to exist after a while. But neither is true. Lost people in hell experience an eternal death in an eternal fire.

The NIV has totally removed this very important verse
from the Bible. That is exactly what Satan wants — people
to not fear what awaits them in an eternal lake of fire.

#6 — Mark 9:46

“Where their ________ dieth not, and the ________ is not quenched.”

Note:   This is repeating the same previous verse. When God repeats something, it is because He wants man to especially note that thing.

#7 — Mark 11:26

“But if ____ do not ______________, neither will your ____________ which is in heaven forgive ________ trespasses.”

Note:   This entire verse is missing in the NIV. What Old English words are there that were so out-of-date that it required removing the entire verse? None.

    1. Mark 11:25 says, “And when ye stand ______________,   ______________, if ye have ought against any: that your ____________ also which is in heaven may forgive you ________ trespasses.”

Note:   To remove verse 26 is to remove the seriousness of not forgiving those who have wronged you. This is not just a suggestion from the Lord, but a requirement if you want the Father to forgive you.

Satan would love for people to not take this “forgiving others thing” seriously.

For he knows that if they do not, then their prayer lives will be hindered,

and he will then be able to accomplish more of his wicked plan.

    2. Psalms 66:18 says, “If I regard ________________ in my __________, the ________ will ______ ________ me.”

#8 — Mark 15:28

“And the __________________ was __________________, which saith, And he was numbered with the transgressors.”

Note:   The NIV totally removes this verse of Scripture which shows the importance of Scripture being fulfilled. Notice, once again, how updating language has nothing at all to do with this change.

The fulfillment of prophecy in Scripture is counted as a very important thing in the Bible.

For one thing, it proves the supernatural character of the Bible.

    1. John 17:11-12 says, “And now I am no more in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to thee. Holy Father, keep through thine own name those whom thou hast given me, that they may be one, as we are. While I was with them in the world, I kept them in thy name: those that thou gavest me I have kept, and none of them is lost, but the ______ of __________________; that the __________________ might be __________________.”
    2. John 19:23-24 “Then the soldiers, when they had crucified Jesus, took his garments, and made four parts, to every soldier a part; and also his coat: now the coat was without seam, woven from the top throughout. They said therefore among themselves, Let us not rend it, but cast lots for it, whose it shall be: that the __________________ might be __________________, which saith, They _____________ my raiment among them, and for my vesture they did ________ ________. These things therefore the soldiers did.”
    3. John 19:28-30 says, “After this, Jesus knowing that all things were now accomplished, that the __________________ might be __________________, saith, I ____________. Now there was set a vessel full of vinegar: and they filled a spunge with vinegar, and put it upon hyssop, and put it to his mouth. When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost.”

The Bible is very careful to mention that every last prophecy in Scripture about the cross

and Jesus’ life was fulfilled before He died — right up to saying, “I thirst.”

The NIV translators did not revere the Scripture in that same way, for they took out

an entire verse that referenced the fulfillment of prophecy in Jesus’ life.
