Chapter 3

#9 — Luke 17:36

“Two men shall be in the field; the one shall be __________, and the other ________.”

Note:   What was so hard to understand about this verse that the NIV translators took it entirely out of the Bible?  This whole passage deals with the Lord’s return.

    1. Luke 17:24 says, “For as the __________________, that lighteneth out of the ______ part under heaven, shineth unto the __________ part under heaven; so shall also the ______ of man be in his day.”
    2. Luke 17:26 says, “And as it was in the days of ______, so shall it be also in the days of the ______ of man.”
    3. Luke 17:28-30 says, “Likewise also as it was in the days of ______; they did ______, they __________, they ____________, they ________, they ______________, they ______________; But the same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all. Even thus shall it be in the day when the ______ of man is revealed.”
    4. Luke 17:34-36 says, “I tell you, in that night there shall be two men in one ______; the one shall be taken, and the other shall be left. Two women shall be ________________ together; the one shall be taken, and the other left. Two men shall be in the __________; the one shall be taken, and the other left.”

Note:   The NIV totally removed verse 36 there, but all three of those verses are important, because they show the different time zones that will all be affected when the Lord returns — some will be sleeping; some will be grinding early in the morning; and some will be working during the day in the field.  All three verses are also important when considering the responsibilities that all believers have.
    Two men are going to be in bed when the Lord returns — but only one is going to be prepared for His coming. That one should have warned the other one, instead of taking it for granted that another day would come for that.
    Two women are going to be grinding together, but only one is going to be prepared for the Lord’s coming. You can imagine how they talk while they work, but the one woman should have brought around the conversation to eternal matters. Women have a responsibility to reach the women that God brings into their realm.
    And then the NIV removes the entire verse that shows the two men working together in the field. Men often neglect the important responsibility to reach those with whom they work. Only one man is ready for the Lord’s return, and it happens right while they are at work.

 

It is interesting that the NIV shows men sleeping and women working, but totally removes

the verse that shows the men working. That is one of our greatest problems right now

— a lack of men being the spiritual leaders that they ought to be. The NIV removes

any conviction from the men for not witnessing to those with whom they work.

Satan does not want the men to realize their responsibility and serve the Lord.

#10 — Luke 23:17

“(For of __________________ he must ______________ one unto them at the __________.)”

Note:   There is nothing in this verse that is Old English and would require updating. The NIV translators simply removed the entire verse.
Pilate could not find any fault with Jesus, so he wanted to use the traditional releasing of a prisoner at the feast, in His case.

    1. Luke 23:13-17 says, “And Pilate, when he had called together the chief priests and the rulers and the people, Said unto them, Ye have brought this man unto me, as one that perverteth the people: and, behold, I, having examined him before you, have found ____    __________ in this man touching those things whereof ye accuse him: No, nor yet Herod: for I sent you to him; and, lo, nothing worthy of death is done unto him. I will therefore chastise him, and ______________ him. (For of necessity he must release one unto them at the feast.)”
    2. With the NIV’s removal of verse 17, verses 18 and 19 would make no sense. “And they cried out all at once, saying, Away with this man, and ______________ unto us ________________: (Who for a certain sedition made in the city, and for ____________, was cast into prison.).”

Note:   Why would the people suddenly cry out for a wicked murderer to be released from prison? What did that have to do with Jesus and His case? Absolutely nothing — except for the matter that Pilate was required to release one prisoner at the feast.

 

#11 — John 5:4

“For an __________ went down at a certain season into the pool, and ________________ the water: whosoever then __________ after the troubling of the water stepped in was made __________ of whatsoever disease he had.”

Note:   The NIV removes this entire verse from the Bible. What is hard to understand about this verse? Nothing. Then why did they remove it?

    1. Verse 4 gives the explanation of what was moving the water. John 5:2-4 says, “Now there is at Jerusalem by the sheep market a pool, which is called in the Hebrew tongue Bethesda, having five porches. In these lay a great multitude of impotent folk, of blind, halt, withered, waiting for the ________________________ of the water. For an __________ went down at a certain season into the pool, and ________________ the water: whosoever then first after the troubling of the water stepped in was made whole of whatsoever disease he had.”
    2. John 5:5-7 say, “And a certain man was there, which had an infirmity ____________ and __________ years. When Jesus saw him lie, and knew that he had been now a long time in that case, he saith unto him, Wilt thou be made whole? The impotent man answered him, Sir, I have no man, when the __________ is ________________, to put me into the pool: but while I am coming, another steppeth down before me.”

Note:   Apart from the explanation that God was sending an angel to move or trouble the water, what might a person think? That the healing was coming through the water itself? Was it a hot mineral spring? Was it a geyser of some type with special healing abilities?

 

By the NIV totally removing verse 4, people could easily think that

people were healed there because of the special water, instead of through God

sending his angel. Satan wants people to look to natural things, instead of to God, for healing.

#12 — Acts 8:37

“And Philip said, ____ thou __________________ with all thine __________, thou ____________. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.”

Note:   Once again, this change has nothing to do with updating Old English words. The NIV translators simply removed this entire verse from the Bible.

 

There is nothing hard to understand about this verse.

A question was asked, and this verse is giving the answer.

The problem is that the NIV translators were from a variety of denominations

— and many of them would not like the answer given in verse 37.

    1. Acts 8:36 says, “And as they went on their way, they came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, here is __________; what doth ____________ me to be ________________?”
    2. The NIV skips right to verse 38, “And he commanded the chariot to stand still: and they went down both into the __________, both Philip and the eunuch; and he ________________ him.”

Note:    According to the NIV, nothing hinders a person from getting baptized (because they entirely took away verse 37), so Philip baptized him. But according to the Bible (verse 37), a person cannot get baptized unless he first believes upon the Lord Jesus Christ with all his heart.

What is so important about this verse is that it clearly rules out baptizing babies

— a practice that many of the NIV translators (who were representative of Anglican’s,

Lutheran’s, Reformed, Methodist’s, etc.) practice in their churches.  Satan wants

people to think that if a baby is baptized, he/she will go to heaven.  Satan does not want

people to know that they must first, personally trust Jesus Christ with all their hearts.

Note:   By taking away verse 37, it also lends to the false teaching that baptism can also save adults.  Also, by taking away verse 37, it totally takes away the confession of a person’s faith in Christ.

    3. Romans 10:9-10 “That if thou shalt ______________ with thy mouth the ________   __________, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the __________    ____________________ is made unto salvation.”

The NIV takes away this most important verse.  If the NIV had made

only this one change, all Christians everywhere should have rejected it.

#13 — Acts 15:34

“Notwithstanding it pleased __________ to abide there __________.”

Note:   This verse has been totally removed by the NIV translators. Was there any Old English in it that made it impossible to understand? No. Then why was this verse removed?

    1. Romans 14:7 says, “For ________ of us liveth to ______________, and no man dieth to ______________.”

Note:   What this means is that our lives affect others. If we live we affect others, and if we die, that also affects others. That is why it is so important that we faithfully serve the Lord while we have the chance, that others may also be encouraged to do so.  That is exactly what we see here in this passage. False doctrine had been brought up by false teachers that had come from Judea, and Paul and Barnabas had faithfully stood against that false doctrine.

    2. Acts 15:1-2 says, "And certain men which came down from Judaea taught the brethren, and said, ____________ ye be ______________________ after the manner of Moses, ye ____________ be __________. When therefore Paul and Barnabas had no small dissension and disputation with them, they determined that Paul and Barnabas, and certain other of them, should go up to Jerusalem unto the apostles and elders about this question."

Note:   They discussed the matter at Jerusalem, and sent word back to refute that false doctrine. When people are willing to stand upon God’s Word as the authority, it stirs up others to also stand, and that is exactly what we see happen here.

    3. Acts 15:22-27 says, “Then pleased it the apostles and elders, with the whole church, to send ____________ men of their own company to Antioch with Paul and Barnabas; namely, Judas surnamed Barsabas, and __________, chief men among the brethren: And they wrote letters by them after this manner; The apostles and elders and brethren send greeting unto the brethren which are of the Gentiles in Antioch and Syria and Cilicia: Forasmuch as we have heard, that certain which went out from us have ________________ you with __________, ____________________ your souls, saying, Ye must be circumcised, and keep the law: to whom we gave no such commandment: It seemed good unto us, being assembled with one accord, to send chosen men unto you with our beloved Barnabas and Paul, Men that have hazarded their lives for the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. We have sent therefore Judas and __________, who shall also tell you the same things by __________.”
    4. Acts 15:33-35 says, “And after they had tarried there a space, they were ______   ____ in peace from the brethren unto the apostles. Notwithstanding it ______________ Silas to __________ there __________. Paul also and Barnabas continued in Antioch, teaching and preaching the word of the Lord, with many others also.”

Note:   By taking verse 34 right out of the Bible, it is removing a powerful reminder to us that each of our lives do have an influence upon others.  By Paul and Barnabas being willing to stand upon God?s Word, it not only stopped the false doctrine that some were spreading, but it also ended up being used of God to call out yet another missionary ? Silas. Would that not be exciting, to think that God used you to encourage a person to give his life full-time to missions? You do not get that example in the NIV, because the translators took this entire verse out of the Bible.
