The “Contemporary Christian” crowd is the only group that
says, “All music is neutral.”
Bill Gaither said, “God speaks through all different kinds of musical styles” (David Cloud, fbns@wayoflife.org, 4-6-06). Rick Warren said, “There is no such thing as ‘Christian’ music; there are only Christian lyrics. It is the words that make a song sacred, not the tune. There are no spiritual tunes.” (The Purpose Driven Life, p. 66)
God disagrees with them.
God says, “Speaking to yourselves in PSALMS and HYMNS and SPIRITUAL SONGS, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord.” (Ephesians 5:19, KJV) If all music is neutral, then why did God instruct us to sing and play only three types?
Unsaved people know that
the tune and rhythm of rock music
is not neutral — but is sinful.
While accepting awards given to his rock band at the Australian Recording Industry Association Awards on October 18, 2004, Jet guitarist Cameron Muncey said:
“I’d like to thank God [for the awards], but I can’t, because rock and roll is the devil’s music.”
(Cameron Muncey, David W. Cloud, fbns@wayoflife.org, 10-29-2004)
In the book, The Legacy of John Lennon, David Noebel wrote:
“Rock ‘n’ roll is a moral hemlock.
It is by nature a music of demonic
rebellion and protest.”
(David Noebel, David W. Cloud, fbns@wayoflife.org, 7-31-2007)
Little Richard, an architect of rock and roll, said in The Dallas Morning News, 10-29-78:
“Rock-n-roll doesn’t glorify God. You can’t drink out of God’s cup and the devil’s cup at the same time. I was one of the pioneers of that music.”
(Little Richard, David W. Cloud, fbns@wayoflife.org, 7-31-2007)
Lita Ford, of the heavy metal group, The Runaways, was quoted in the Los Angeles Times, on August 7, 1988:
“Listen, rock ‘n roll AIN’T CHURCH. It’s nasty business. You gotta be nasty too. If you’re goody, goody, you can’t sing or play it…”
(Lita Ford, David W. Cloud, fbns@wayoflife.org, 7-31-2007)
Shortly before his death in 1980, John Lennon (one of the Beatles), was quoted in Pop Goes the Gospel, as saying:
“Rock music has got the same message as before [back in his days with the Beatles]. It is anti-religious, anti-nationalistic and anti-morality. But now I understand what you have to do. You have to put the message across with a little honey on it.”
(John Lennon, David W. Cloud, fbns@wayoflife.org., 7-31-2007)
One of the songs he partly helped write was called, Back in the USSR, which portrayed the Soviet Union as a better place (because of its girls) than the USA. He also wrote a song called, Imagine, which included lines imagining that there is no heaven, and no hell, and no religion. John Lennon said that despite the honey (the religion) that people are putting with rock and roll today; the music, by its nature, is still anti-religious, anti-nationalistic, and anti-morality.
Timothy Leary, psychologist and promoter of LSD drugs, said of rock:
“Don’t listen to the words,
it’s the music that has its own message… I’ve been stoned
on the music many times.”
(Timothy Leary, David W. Cloud, fbns@wayoflife.org., 4-6-2006).
Frank Zappa, a rock musician, said:
“Rock music is _____ (immorality).”
(Frank Zappa, David W. Cloud, fbns@wayoflife.org., 4-6-2006).
Gene Simmons, of the rock group Kiss, said:
“That’s what rock is all about — ______ (immorality) with a 100 megaton bomb, the beat!”
(Gene Simmons, David W. Cloud, fbns@wayoflife.org., 4-6-2006)
Tina Turner, called, Queen of Rock, said:
“Rock and roll is… naughty.”
(Tina Turner, David W. Cloud, fbns@wayoflife.org., 4-6-2006)
The world openly admits that the beat of rock music tempts a person to immorality. That was the same thing that Moses and Joshua found to be true when they were coming down from the Mount with the Ten Commandments. When they heard the wild music, Joshua said, “There is a noise of war in the camp.” When the camp came into view, they saw “the calf, and the dancing: and Moses’ anger waxed hot…” “Moses saw that the people were naked…” (Holy Bible, Exodus 32:17-25, KJV). Dancing, nakedness, and immorality are the message of the rock and roll beat.
Musical notes are like letters of the alphabet. Alone, they are neutral; but as soon as you place them together, they send a distinct message, either B-A-D or G-O-O-D.
What happened to the hymns?
Do you remember when church leaders told the congregation that they had to play the world’s music to attract them to their services, so they could hear the gospel and be saved? They would still have a “Traditional” service (for Christians), and then a “Contemporary” service (for the lost). Why do you not see those two church services listed on most church signs anymore? Because most churches now play rock music for every service.
Did they win the world?
No. The world won them.
“Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin.” (Holy Bible, John 8:34, KJV).
“Dear Lord Jesus, I do believe that you are the Son of God; that you are God Almighty in the flesh, the Creator of heaven and earth. I do believe that you are the only Savior; that you died on the cross for me, and gave your precious blood to pay my sin debt; and then you arose from the grave the third day. I do now repent of my sins, and receive you as my Savior. Please forgive me, and save my soul. Please raise up my life from sin and shame, and use it now for your glory. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.”
Yes, I just asked the Lord Jesus Christ to
save me, and I desire to now live for Him.

God wants you to now openly confess Him by getting baptized under the water at a good Bible-preaching church, and to faithfully attend the services there. If you will write to us, we have some excellent Bible Study booklets to help you learn more.
