TEXT VERSION

1962-63

Prayer & Bible-reading

thrown out of the public schools.

Madalyn Murray O’Hair, the infamous atheist, was instrumental in bringing cases before the U. S. Supreme Court in 1962 and 1963, which banned prayer and Bible-reading in the public schools.  What is interesting is that her son, William J. Murray, grew up and became a professing Christian, and an advocate for the rights of Christians. (www.allaboutpopularissues.org/prayer-in-the-public-schools-faq.htm)

2003

The Ten Commandments

thrown out of the courthouse.

In 2003, a federal judge banned a monument bearing the Ten Commandments from the Alabama State Supreme Court Building.

Chief Justice Roy Moore resisted the order, but was eventually forced to comply.(www.allaboutpopularissues.org/prayer-in-the-public-schools-faq.htm)

2011

The Ten Commandments

thrown out of churches.

Many church members do not even realize that this has happened in their churches.

A contemporary Christian was talking to a pastor of a different church, and disapproved of what he had posted on the sign out front.  The contemporary Christian said, “I don’t think that the Christian life should be a list of Thou Shalt Not’s,” and then he went on to state that the message of the church needs to be positive — not negative.  The pastor listened.

Then the contemporary Christian changed the subject, and became very passionate about how evil our court system has become, to have thrown out the 10 Commandments from public life.

The pastor let him finish,

and then said, “Sir, what are

the Ten Commandments?”

#1 — “THOU SHALT HAVE NO other gods before me.”(Exodus 20:3)

#2 — “THOU SHALT NOT make unto thee any graven image.”(Exodus 20:4)

#3 — “THOU SHALT NOT take the name of the Lord thy God in vain.”(Exodus 20:7)

#4 — “Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.”(Exodus 20:8)

#5 — “Honor thy father and thy mother.”(Exodus 20:12)

#6 — “THOU SHALT NOT kill.”(Exodus 20:13)

#7 — “THOU SHALT NOT commit adultery.”(Exodus 20:14)

#8 — “THOU SHALT NOT steal.”(Exodus 20:15)

#9 — “THOU SHALT NOT bear false witness.”(Exodus 20:16)

#10 — “THOU SHALT NOT covet.”(Exodus 20:17)

Eight of the Ten Commandments

are negative — that is 80%.

Do you see the hypocrisy of contemporary Christians condemning the judicial system, when they have done the same exact thing in their churches?

Contemporary churches do not want anything negative posted on the church sign, nor preached from the pulpit — they have thrown out the Ten Commandments,

and are blind to it.

“For the time is come that JUDGMENT MUST BEGIN AT THE HOUSE OF GOD…”(1 Peter 4:17a)

Some would argue that the New Testament is all about grace, and is positive.  Is that true?  In the New Testament we read, “PREACH the WORD; be instant in season, out of season; REPROVE, REBUKE, EXHORT with all longsuffering and doctrine.”(2 Timothy 4:2)  That is instructing the preaching to be about 66.66% negative (reprove/rebuke — telling you what you should not be doing), and about 33.33% positive (exhort — telling you what you should be doing).  Why does such a large percentage have to be negative?  The following verses give the answer.  “For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but AFTER THEIR OWN LUSTS shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;  And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.”(2 Timothy 4:3-4)   The problem is that Christians still have bodies of flesh, and the flesh is weak —“…the spirit indeed is willing, but the FLESH IS WEAK.” (Matthew 26:41b)

The world has never seen so many large churches — but at the same time, been so low, spiritually.

The reason is because in the majority of those churches, you will never hear any warnings given — everything has to be positive.  When Christians are not warned about sin, they begin to follow their flesh, which is weak.

When everything has to be positive, a false gospel begins to be preached — one that includes no repentance.  Jesus said, “I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.” (Luke 13:3).

When no repentance is preached, churches fill up with tares (false Christians), whose influence causes the church to accept rock music, immodest dress, dancing, and

the drinking of alcohol.

Are those the same changes that your church has experienced?  “Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.”(2 Timothy 3:5).  “Dear Lord Jesus, I do believe that you are the Son of God; that you are God Almighty in the flesh, the Creator of heaven and earth.  I do believe that you are the only Savior; that you died on the cross for me, and gave your precious blood to pay my sin debt; and then you arose from the grave the third day.  I do now repent of my sins, and receive you as my Savior.  Please forgive me, and save my soul.  Please raise up my life from sin and shame, and use it now for your glory.  In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.”

Yes, I just asked Jesus to save me,

and I desire to now live for Him.

Yes, I am saved, but I now realize why

my church has changed.  Please pray

for me to find a good church.

God wants you to now openly confess Him by getting baptized under the water at a good Bible-preaching church, and to faithfully attend the services there.  If you will write to us, we have some excellent Bible Study booklets to help you learn more.
