Chapter 5

V. How Do You Obtain Salvation?

1. Ephesians 2:8,9 says, “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of ____________________: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.”

When you receive a gift, it is free to you,

but only because someone else paid the price.

Note: Now some people say about salvation, “Oh, I just cannot believe that I do not have to do something to earn salvation — that is just too simple to be true!”

Simple? Was it simple for God to send His only begotten Son from heaven down to this sin-cursed earth? Would it be simple for you to send your son to a filthy, dangerous place?

Simple? Was it simple for Jesus to be born in the womb of the virgin Mary? Was it simple to have to be born out in the stable, because there was no room in the inn for them?

Simple? Was it simple for Jesus to arrive on the scene, and have the priests who were supposed to be teaching the people about Him, reject Him, and turn the people against Him? Simple?

Simple? Was it simple for Jesus to go through the whipping, the beating, the spitting, the nailing on the cross, the darkness, the forsaking of all His disciples? Simple?

Simple? Was it simple for God the Father to sit back and let those wicked men do that to His Son? Simple for God the Father to let His Son bleed on that cross, to let Him thirst, to let Him painfully die? Simple?

There was NOTHING SIMPLE  about paying the price

for the salvation of mankind! It was the most costly

undertaking that has ever been done in history.

It is offered freely to all people, because they

could have never paid the price themselves.

2. Romans 6:23 says, “For the wages of sin is death; but the ________ of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”

Note: Salvation is clearly a gift. But how do you accept this gift? At Christmas time you reach out and take the gift with your hands when it is offered to you. How do you take the gift of salvation?

3. According to Romans 10:9,10, the Bible says, “That if thou shalt confess with thy __________ the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine __________ that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the __________ man believeth unto righteousness; and with the __________ confession is made unto salvation.”

4. Romans 10:13 says, “For whosoever shall ________ upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”

5. The Bible says in John 1:12, “But as many as ________________ him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name.”

6. Revelation 3:20 says, “Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and ________ the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.”

Note: You open the door of your life to invite Jesus Christ in as your Savior, by believing upon Him with all your heart, and then asking Him to personally save you.

According to Acts 16:30, 31, “Sirs, what must I do to be saved? And they said, ____________ on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.”

Question: Has there been a definite time in your life when you have repented of your sin and asked the Lord Jesus Christ to forgive you of your sin, and have placed your faith in Him, and in Him alone to save you? Yes No

(If yes, when did you make that decision? _____________________)
