I was born in Detroit, Michigan, the youngest of 5 girls; and one brother, who is younger than me.

When I was 17, I joined the Reorganized Church of the Latter Day Saints.

At that age, I felt a great need for God in my life.  That was the church my family had attended when I was very small, so that is where I went.  I hesitated when it came time to actually joining it, because I had some doubts about it, but I did not know why.

Note:  How about you?  Are you attending a church just because of family tradition, but still have found no real peace in your soul?  Listen to what the Bible says, “Forasmuch as ye know that ye were NOT REDEEMED with corruptible things… RECEIVED BY TRADITION from your fathers;  But with the PRECIOUS BLOOD OF CHRIST, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot” (Holy Bible, I Peter 1:18,19).  Religious traditions can never meet that deep need down in your soul—only the blood of the Lord Jesus Christ can cleanse you.

By the time I was 23, I was

very unhappy in that church.

They spoke more about life experiences than they did from the Bible.  They were also letting women into the priesthood—and I knew that was against what the Bible teaches.

I knew that I needed God

in my life, but I was unsure

where  or how  to find Him.

Note:  Are you still searching, too?  “And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart” (Holy Bible, Jeremiah 29:13).  That is the key—it must be a heart decision.  Jesus is not just someone you say certain words to when you are in trouble.  Jesus is someone to whom you give your heart and life.

My husband and I were married, and were soon expecting a baby.  I was very sick before, and after he was born.  Two years after our second son was born, I became very ill and was hospitalized.  They diagnosed me as having Crohn’s Disease.

In July, I was rushed to the hospital in pain.  I was there for over a month, and underwent

three major surgeries.

I had another surgery in December; and another one after our daughter was born.

I prayed before each surgery, and thought that if I just lived a good life, I would go to heaven.  But inside, I was still unsure.

Note:  Are you trying to get into heaven by your good works?  Listen to what the Bible says, “NOT BY WORKS of righteous-ness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us” (Holy Bible, Titus 3:5).  “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that NOT OF YOUR-SELVES: it is the gift of God:  NOT OF WORKS, lest any man should boast” (Holy Bible, Ephesians 2:8,9).

One summer day, a Pastor and his wife from a local Baptist Church stopped by our home.  I was not there, but they talked to my husband, and left him some literature.  I read it over when I got home, but I had been taught  to be wary of other churches.

In the following year, we experienced great discipline problems with our boys.  I was at the point where something

just had to be done.

I then remembered the Pastor and his wife from the Baptist Church, that had visited the previous year.  I went to a service and liked it, because a lot of Scripture was used in the message.  The very next evening, a couple from the church came and shared with me how I could be saved.  I repented of my sin, and asked Jesus to save me.  Since that time, many in my family have also gotten saved.

“Say unto them, As I live, saith the Lord GOD, I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked; but that the wicked TURN from his WAY and LIVE” (Holy Bible, Ezekiel 33:11a, KJV).

The Lord Jesus Christ is the Son of God; He is Master, Savior, and Messiah; God Almighty in the flesh; the Creator of heaven and earth.  He died on the cross for you, and gave His pure, sinless blood to pay your sin debt.  The Lord Jesus Christ arose from the grave the third day, proving that His blood fully paid for your sins.  To be SAVED, you must CALL upon Him from your HEART.  “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the LORD JESUS, and shalt BELIEVE in thine HEART that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be SAVED.”  “For whosoever shall CALL upon the NAME of the LORD shall be SAVED” (Holy Bible, Romans 10:9,13, KJV).

After we ask the Lord Jesus Christ to save us, then God instructs us to openly confess Him by getting baptized in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.  When we go under the water, it pictures death to the old life of sin, and when we come up out of the water, it pictures a new life serving the Lord Jesus Christ.

Yes, I just asked the Lord Jesus Christ to save me, and I desire to now live for Him.
